Tracey Alley (traceya) | 485 comments Well done Emily. I'm not a big fan of sparkling water, I prefer still and try to always drink 2 litres a day but that's just because I'm a coffee addict :)

Margaret Sharp (margaretlynettesharp) | 1215 comments I like coffee, too, but have it only a couple of times a week.

message 6154: by Emily (new)

Emily E (emily_e1) | 347 comments I used to drink 3-5 cups of coffee a day, I'm trying to limit myself to one lately. Learning to appreciate tea!

I drink lots of tea (used to be a real coffee drinker years ago!), and my drink of choice when hubby and I are out, is MOCHA!! Love it:)

Faye (lastchapter) | 409 comments I am a chai drinker, but like it brewed from the actual leaves and spices, anyone else out there like chai? Also I purchased a soda stream, best purchase ever, just make the bubbly water and pop lemon or lime in it and I have got my water intake up!

Tracey Alley (traceya) | 485 comments Amazon's been having a huge sale of Erich's Plea, now free, and I've gained nearly 3000 new readers - fingers crossed that even half of them like the book enough to read the rest of the series. I can't believe how well things are suddenly going with my writing career - it's like going from famine to feast and my head is spinning.

Congratulations Tracey! I'm one of the ones who downloaded it for free (many thanks!). It's not my usual genre, but I will give it a go, and we will see!!! Fantastic everything is going so well for you...you deserve it, for sure!

Tracey Alley (traceya) | 485 comments We've had a bit of rainy weather here lately, good for me as it means I actually get some work done ;)

Had breakfast with my sister this morning which was fantastic. I really do consider myself incredibly blessed to have such a great sister, she's more like a best friend than a sister if that makes any sense. I have to remind myself sometimes how lucky I really am, with a great husband, wonderful family, career I love and a beautiful fur family. Not trying to be boastful because being so blessed is a truly humbling experience.

Hope everyone has a great day :)

Tracey Alley (traceya) | 485 comments Rainy and miserable today AND I have to go to the dentist **shudders** I HATE the dentist but unfortunately my teeth are atrocious. We've tried everything over the years to hold onto my teeth but for some reason they just break really easily. It's not a matter of cavities exactly it's just that the teeth themselves chip and break. At my last visit the dentist warned me I'd probably have to get false teeth put in soon, either dental implants or the removable plate kind and now I've broken 3 more teeth - I don't think I'll be able to put it off any longer **sigh**

Wishing everyone a fabulous day :)

Oh Tracey! Sounds like you have brittle teeth. Are you on medication? The same thing happens to my husband, and they have told him some medication erodes the enamel:(

Mark Tracey wrote: "Rainy and miserable today AND I have to go to the dentist **shudders** I HATE the dentist but unfortunately my teeth are atrocious. We've tried everything over the years to hold onto my teeth but ..."
I'm extremely sorry to hear this, Tracey. I'm sure you've investigated every possible cause and remedy, and implants or plates may not be avoidable, but assuming there isn't a genetic cause, and that you've been taking abundant calcium and D vitamins, and that you aren't bruxing or have a night guard to wear if you are, and that you don't have gastric reflux and drink no acidic beverages (and especially not oj or erosive colas), and aren't taking any suspect medications, have you checked out the ph of the water where you live? It's more often calcium deficiency, exposure to acids or mechanical erosion than anything genetic. (I'm not medically trained, but my ex- was at one point employed as a research scientist in a dental school, so I've heard the issue discussed.) Anyway, hope it went well for you today, and you have my sympathies.

I've broken two teeth over a three year span, but the last one was mainly because it had been filled twice and there wasn't much left of original tooth. I had both fixed by getting crowns, which is a rather drawn out process but I'm happy with the result. And yes, you have my sympathies.

Thanks for you nice wishes!

message 6173: by Tracey (new)

Tracey Alley (traceya) | 485 comments Thanks everyone, it wasn't completely horrible at the dentists - close, but not completely. My biggest problem, as you guessed Brenda, is the medications I take and yes, Mark, that I suffer from gastric reflux & have done for years. However the dentist did offer some comfort, she's certain she can save the majority of my teeth with crowns and the few that will have to be pulled will be filled with a partial plate - not fun but better than I have at the moment. It'll mean a couple of months worth of dental work on a regular basis but if I do this and start using that Pro-Enamel toothpaste all the time I should, fingers crossed, be all right with 6 monthly check ups. I appreciate the sympathy and I do apologise for coming in to whine.

On a brighter note I absolutely adore my new car. It drives beautifully, looks gorgeous and is super comfortable with great seats, A/C, and a kick a@@ stereo :)

message 6180: by Mark (last edited Jul 16, 2012 09:22PM) (new)

Mark Possibly it will help to know, Jeanette, that here on the other side of the Acheron, it's been >95 degrees (35 C.) for at least two weeks, and on Saturday my A/C (emulating me, possibly) experienced critical system failure, so that 95 was also the temperature indoors. You will eventually get the sun back, but here in Texas, a day without heatstroke is like a cosmic anomaly. :) (I don't actually know how cold it is where you are, and you certainly have my sympathies, but there actually do exist places you might enjoy less -- if that sort of "cold comfort" is of any use at all).

I couldn't stand that heat Mark! Do you have humidity though? That's what we suffer through a lot of the year where I am (in the warmer months of course!) Our overnight temp was 4C last night, but it's a mild 19C today! There have been heatwaves over your way too, haven't there?

There are parts of the state somewhat more arid, though it's difficult, actually, to classify gradations of hell. (Yes, I know, Dante tried, but he'd never been to Texas.) There have been uncharacteristic heatwaves all over the US this summer, but here, it's just business as usual for people to undergo spontaneous combustion (and in my region, it's also humid). 4C sounds a bit chilly to me (cryogenesis-inducing, actually), but I suppose it beats sinking into the melting asphalt. :)

message 6183: by Brenda, Aussie Authors Queen (new)

Brenda | 80171 comments Mod
Yes, I think I'd prefer 4C to 'sinking into the melting asphalt'!! To my way of thinking, you can always put more clothes on, warm up, but in the heat, you can only take so much off, and if you're still hot...well, so be it!!

message 6185: by Margaret (new)

Margaret Sharp (margaretlynettesharp) | 1215 comments I dislike the intense heat more than the cold. Having said that, it doesn't get all that cold in Sydney, especially in a well insulated house.
We've had air-conditioning for about three years, and it's certainly taken the edge off those days in the high thirties and low forties. We rarely use it in the winter; it's enough, just to rug up with a warm jumper or two.

Amber (elfkingdom) | 366 comments Not very happy with my local ER. During the middle of the night two weeks ago went to them with severe pains only to be told it was a bladder infection. It was actually a ruptured ectopic pregnancy...makes you wonder how something like that can be so grossly misdiagnosed....

Oh Amber, that's terrible! You poor thing...are you ok? Things like that happen all too often I'm afraid. We had an elderly (83yo) man fall from a bus a few weeks ago. He waiting in the emergency for 10 hours in the freezing cold, then his big gash was bandaged and he was sent home, WITHOUT a CT scan or anything. After a few days of intense pain, his family took him to another hospital, where it was discovered he had a fractured skull, among other things! Needless to say, it made the front page of the paper!

That's awful. I know doctors are overworked, hospitals are understaffed, but it makes me angry when I think how they could mistake a ruptured ectopic for a bladder infection. Especially when the ER told me tests had 'proved' I was 100% not pregnant...I was actually 8 weeks along...I have since undergone emergency surgery to remove the ruptured tube...I think mental issues will last longer than the physical scars

Yes, you would probably be right there. Are you still able to fall pregnant Amber? Are you seeing a counsellor? Take care:)

message 6192: by Amber (new)

Amber (elfkingdom) | 366 comments Thanks Brenda... The surgeon said that it will be more difficult to fall pregnant now because I have only one tube, and the risk of another ectopic is higher than normal as I've already had one. Everything just seems harder right now - in 09 I miscarried twins, and now this...
