Tracey Alley (traceya) | 485 comments Hi all,
It's raining again today and they say we're unlikely to see sunshine till Monday. I'm off to the museum tomorrow to see the new Egyptian display with my sister and her 3 girls plus my new great-niece Tallie. I'm really looking forward to it as this is supposed to be an all new collection from the British Museum. Cynthia, my sister, along with her eldest daughter Rachel, my other niece Britney and I went down to Melbourne earlier in the year to see the Tutankhamen display which was amazing. I did one of my University degrees in Egyptology so I absolutely adore all this stuff - next step Egypt itself but Robbie needs to make some more money first lol

Hi Tracey,

I was wondering if you've read 'Gods, Graves and Scholars'. It's a wonderful, highly readable book, crammed full of information and marvellous stories.

Tracey Alley (traceya) | 485 comments I have actually read God, Graves & Scholars - I had to do an archaeology component in my degree and that was on the reading list but it is, as you say, a highly readable book that I'd personally recommend to anyone even slightly interested in our ancient past. Thanks to Uni I got the chance to read some really wonderful books that I might not have come across otherwise - I still love the Uni library :)

I have some news about Kindle. We expect both 'A Taste of Life and Love in Australia' and '25 Stories of Life and Love in Australia' to be available within twelve hours.

There's no way I'll be putting '25 Stories....' up on the list until it happens!

I do enjoy re-reading it. Another book I was introduced to by Uni was
The Histories That's one I kept on my bookshelf and pull out quite often.

And congratulations on the new releases, they sound very interesting - I'll have to grab a copy.

Tracey Alley (traceya) | 485 comments Congratulations David on meeting John Williamson. I'm a big fan of his as well.

Just had a wonderful visit from my brother-in-law, Robbie's identical twin, and his son Hunter. While Robbie and Brett are very similar in many ways being identical twins it's amazing at how different they are - they each had different parents raise them and it definitely shows.

Margaret Sharp (margaretlynettesharp) | 1215 comments I just want to thank Mark for the lovely review of 'The Essence of Life and Love in Australia' that he posted both here on Goodreads, and Amazon. Much appreciated!

message 6122: by Mark (new)

Mark Not at all, Margaret. It was well-deserved, and I was very happy to do it! Tracey -- I'm remiss in that I owe you a review (love "Erich's Plea"), but it's next on my agenda!

message 6123: by Tracey (new)

Tracey Alley (traceya) | 485 comments HI Mark,
I'm so pleased you enjoyed Erich's Plea and if you could post your review here and at Amazon that would be much appreciated.

There may be an opportunity opening up for Robbie & I to move to a slightly bigger house, which it looks like we'll need as his Mum is probably moving in with us. Lynne, my MIL, hasn't been very well of late & Robbie & I would prefer to have her close by so we can keep an eye on her so I'm praying that this all works out well.

Congratulations on Mark's high opinion of your book!

Hi, Tracey,

I've rated it (5 stars) and will absolutely have a review up in both places in thr next day or two. Great fun, and definitely a page-turner!

message 6126: by Tracey (new)

Tracey Alley (traceya) | 485 comments Wow Mark, thanks so much. I hope you enjoy the rest of the series as well.

The house deal fell through so Robbie & I are still looking. I'm sure we'll find a place, it's just a matter of timing.

The weather's been so lovely lately that we may see an early Spring, although the nights and early mornings are still very cold.

Robbie bought me a new car yesterday, a beautiful silver Ford that has everything I need - Air Conditioning and a great stereo lol. Now I need to sell my old car but already have a very keen potential buyer who's offered me $3000 for it, which is very good money considering its' age. It was well maintained though and still runs beautifully, I just felt it was a bit too small for me as it's a 3 door Daihatsu with no A/C :( So, as good as it's been to me I won't be that sorry to see it go - especially not with my shiny new car in the carport :)

Margaret Sharp (margaretlynettesharp) | 1215 comments Hi Brenda, are you suggesting it goes in the same thread as Kindle editions of 'A Taste of Life and Love in Australia' and '25 Stories of Life and Love in Australia', or do you have a different one in mind?

Margaret Sharp (margaretlynettesharp) | 1215 comments Hi Brenda, I think it would be a good idea to put the first four titles in the one thread, since they are a series, and have separate threads for the other two.
We could call the first thread maybe the 'Life and Love in Australia' series, but I think changing the thread title to that looks rather tricky.:)
Maybe I'll leave well enough, alone.:)

Tracey Alley (traceya) | 485 comments Thanks Margaret for tweeting about the book, all exposure helps.

I actually got approached today by a new UK magazine which would like to do a feature on me and my books - if it's all legit should be a fantastic break to help me get into the UK marketplace. Wish me luck :)

Wow Tracey, good luck with it...do so hope it's legit! That will be wonderful for you if it is:)

message 6143: by Tracey (new)

Tracey Alley (traceya) | 485 comments Well it turns out they are a legit online magazine so that's great news. I've just sent off my details. It's not quite the same as being on the stationers shelf but online magazines do get good followings so this is a big break for me, especially as they approached me and not the other way around.

Other than that, life is pretty good, well very good actually. Robbie bought me a new car and I was able to sell my old car for top dollar. I may have found us the perfect place to move to [although the actual moving part will be a pain] and my writing's going well, sales are up. I really can't complain about anything right now, super happy :)

Tracey Alley (traceya) | 485 comments Thanks Brenda & Margaret. I'll post a link as soon as I know which issue I'll be in.

I'm really happy at the moment, after a couple of really bad months in a row sales wise, now I'm suddenly doing pretty good again. In fact, I'm on track to have one of my best months ever and even better is that Amazon currently have Erich's Plea (The Witchcraft Wars, #1) by Tracey Alley free so that will really help with exposure to new readers. Wish me luck!
