The copy I read was the Large Print volume of Spoken From the Heart by Laura Bush wich was a total of 722 pages.

I was credited the points and GR Author but not the Big Book ticket. If there's a problem, please let me know.
Thanks!

Theodore Boone, Kid Lawyer was specifically listed in the help thread for task 15.6(post 3) as not okay for the task. Sorry.

Wow, I didn't see that. Sorry!! I went back and re-read the thread, and can I appeal that decision? It's not a YA book, really -- it's for kids (elementary school-aged) and the task specifically allows a children's book writer who has written one adult fiction. This is certainly the inverse (opposite?) of that. I can see where there is a fine line between YA and adult, but the recommended age on this one is 8-12. (NOT, of course, that I could get my 8 year old or my 10 year old to read it!! I was pretty miffed about that ;) ) And while press is certainly not always reliable, this book was highly publicized as a complete genre departure for Grisham.
Let me know if I should post this in the Help Thread for that task instead?
I have another book I can use in this task, but I really do think that this one fits squarely in the intent of it :)

Do you generally read large print books due to a vision problem, Cheryl? Otherwise, Cynthia has always disallowed LP books for page requirements purposes in the past.

Whoops missed that part ;o). Thanks for bringing it to my attention so quickly, Petra. It's fixed now and should show up in the next update.

sorry, Ashley, but this won't work. The distinction between adult/kids books is meant to be between little kids books, like picture books, not a distinction between books for tweens and for adults. Also, realistically, this is another legal book, so not a real departure for Grisham.
Finally, this book has been specifically mentioned from the beginning as not okay. The challenge is almost halfway through, and it isn't really fair to others to change the rules at this point (any more than we would now disallow books that we had specifically allowed.
Sorry.

I do read regularly printed books but would rather read the large print because I get a lot of migraine headaches. I will choose a large print book ever a regularly printed book any day. I also didn't know that Cynthia had disallowed this so you don't have to count it. I am just waiting on the 50 point challenge to finish the challenge so I won't need the Big Book Ticket.

On your post for Task 15.6, Goodreads shows two different Jane Austen "Choose Your Own Adventure" books by Emma Campbell Webster.

Sheila, Cynthia's response to your question about LP books (in the Spring Challenge, I believe it was) is what I was basing my answer to Cheryl on. Obviously, you can (and should) read LP books if you have vision problems, migraines, etc. But I want to make sure we're being fair to everyone when it comes to reaching a required page count or claiming BB tickets. And I think Sheila's method of using the regular hardback page count is a fair way to handle this issue.

While Brave New World appears on almost every banned/challenged book list, I have not been able to find any list of banned/challenged books that included Brave New World Revisited (described as a book of essays published more than 20 years later). Can you provide some reference to a ban, challenge, etc. of this book?
And please only post newly completed tasks in your postings, not previously posted ones.
Thanks.

Your first post was a total of 110 points - after taking out 10.3, that left you with 100 points. Adding the 60 in the second post gives you 160 points.
5.2, 5.9, 5.10, 10.1, 10.5, 20.5, 20.7, 25.3, 30.1, 30.7

That's okay - it can get confusing to keep up with the points!

The GR authors claimed up until the midpoint can be found in post #2 of the Readerboard thread. It's a hassle to keep posting all of the GRA and BB individually because I quickly run out of alloted characters in the posts. Therefore, I am now only listing the individual GRA and BB tickets earned since the midpoint.
You claimed Chris Cleave as a GR author in post #1425 of the Completed Tasks thread (midpoint was post #1510). So, the 1 GRA ticket you earned up to the midpoint (Chris Cleave) shows up in post #2.
The other GRA ticket you've earned (Chevy Stevens) shows up in message #6 of the Readerboard thread because you claimed him in message #1566 of the Completed Tasks thread (past the midpoint). So I have you listed as having 2 GRA tickets.

You posted for task 25.4, but you have already posted that task, with the same book for part A but a different book for part B.
Also, please check your total points. In post 1552, your total was 450. Your next completed task posting appears to be post 1723, a 5 point task, but you put your total as 480 and have continued on from there.

Task 25.2, part B, requires that you read an author's debut novel published in 2010. Goodreads shows the book you posted as the 3rd novel for this author, with the other two having been published in 2009.

When you're changing around a task, you need to indicate that, not just post it again with new books. Otherwise, it just looks as if you've forgotten you posted it before, and are now posting it again.
My spreadsheet shows your current total is 475. You seem to have counted 25.4 twice, and you jumped from 450 in post 1552 to 480 in post 1723, while adding only a 5 point task.

Message #2 lists the GRA tickets earned through the midpoint (post 1510). Messages #3-6 list the GRAs claimed since the midpoint and are updated through post 1750, just like the Readerboard.

For task 20.3, you posted The History of Lesbian Hair. From the rather scanty GR description and the reader comments, this doesn't sound as if it fits the task description:
For this purpose the idea of feminist literature is a work that focuses on the struggles of women in a male-dominated society and hopefully their efforts to change their environment.
El stated that a book about lesbians doesn't necessarily fit this definition. If the book's focus does fit the task, please explain further.
Thanks.

My spreadsheet shows 240. I double checked the Readerboard and that's how it came out there, too. So, all is fine!
When the totals don't match, I go back through that person's earlier postings to make sure that I've credited the poster with all tasks claimed, and no tasks that weren't claimed. So, while it makes my job easier if they match, I am able to sort it out.
