Zen raised an eyebrow. "Nothing about a curse. Just what could make him lose his memory? I mean a Dark Arts?" He said.

Siki scowled. It was almost like they used to do, pick apart puzzles, but this time it was much bigger. "I really don tlike mages." she looked at Felway, then rolled up her scroll and put it back in her inside pocket. "And standing here isnt going to help much."
Kia had followed them to the town and watched them deliberate from a shadowy corner. Getting the scrolls would be easy, she mused.
Felway was out of it. He heard what Siki said, and it kept picking at him in the back of the mind. "'What protection without danger.'" Felway whispered. It came to him. He grabbed Siki by both shoulders. "The one who told you that, 'What protection without danger', is the same jerk that promised you safety!" Felway started to become mad, partly at the remembrance of being lied to, and part that he couldn't remember who promised Siki's safely.
"Who was it. Do you know?" Felway looked straight in her eyes still holding her by the shoulders. "Who said that to you?"
"Who was it. Do you know?" Felway looked straight in her eyes still holding her by the shoulders. "Who said that to you?"
Siki looked at him, surprised. "Felway.... it was you." she said looking at him, he didnt even rember the day he left. "Felway....." she was shocked, he didnt remeber. She looked at his eyes, they looked so forien and... confused.
A dark look crossed Zen's face. "Siki, it was him. But also it was me." He looked ashamed. "When you were a little child you got hurt, I was twelve and I tolf my father I'd never let anything happen to you. I'm sorry." He said.
Siki looked at Zen, confused. "What-" she didnt recall that. "But nothing ever happened to me... I - I"
A falcon dropped out of nowhere and dropped to Kia's shoulder. She pulled a slip of paper from the chamber attached to his foot. A smile spread across her face as she read it. She patted the falcon and gave it something to eat. After eating, the falcon jumped to a perch on a roof.
Zen heard the flapping of wings and raised an eyebrow. He looked at Kia but didn't see anything. He shrugged it off.
Zen nodded. "Sure." He said. Attis was eating some grass a few yards away. He whistled and he came galloping.
Kia slipped her cloak off and changed a few things about her appearance while haggling a vendor for his horse. She made a signal to the falcon, which took off
Zen sighed. "Siki. I know you haven't seen me in four years, but wouldn't you of all people remember? Rules don't accuire to me. You guys will ride on the saddle. I'll ride on the foot hold." He said.
Siki smiled. "Fine, Zen, but dont fall off, remeber last time you did that." she recalled years ago when zen fell off the horse they were all riding and they left him.
Zen chuckled. "Yes. I remember, a killer weggie and a cast for a month. Well I ripped it off at two weeks but, ya know." He said.
Siki was already on the the saddle and Zen was climbing on the foot hold. Felway looked to the shiny grass off the the side. "No." He answered. Siki stuck out her hand and helped him up. Felway knew that for them this was like a get together for an old friendship, but something had changed, everyone left and was set off to get the scrolls for their own reason. It was like their childhood was gone and they were enemies, and patching the gash to their friendship would take the world.
Felway blinked off the thought of friendship as the horse moved on.
Felway blinked off the thought of friendship as the horse moved on.
Siki kicked the horse into a gallop. "Hang on." she said, and snapped the reins to get the horse into a full feleged run. She smiled. She leaned forward on the hourse and laughed, almost osing her grio on the reins, she felt like she was flying.
Some time passed before the three of them and Attis arrived at the rocky ledge that started the maze of caverns. They all got off and looked into the dark cave. Day had almost passed now and the moon could be seen.
They stood there for a moment just looking in the cave.
"What you you going to do with your horse Zen?" Felway asked not taking his eyes off the cave.
They stood there for a moment just looking in the cave.
"What you you going to do with your horse Zen?" Felway asked not taking his eyes off the cave.
Zen shrugged. "Attis is not my horse. He is my partner. And he'll wait, notify us if anyone is coming. If I need him, I whistle." He said, wiping dirt out of his eyes.
Siki looked at the both of them. She tied her hair back and ripped off her glove, and tieing it like her bandana, "Anyone have a match or something?" she asked.
Siki nodded a thank you and found a nearby branch, she broke off a torch sized peice and with some dried leaves, coaked it into a flame. She tossed the box back to Zen.
Siki raised her eyebrows at Zen. "I've heard stories about this place, i'd prefer not to go in blind, only to be attack by something." She'd only had a few missions here and they were all in broud daylight.
Zen smiled. "Of course, of course." he said, rummaging around in his leather bag. He took out a torch shaped piece of metal filled with kindling and twigs and mulch. She lit a match and stuck it in. It began to blaze. "It has a burch center, will burn for days." He said, "Of course it's enhanced." He said.
Zen nodded. "Part of my job. You should look into it, it's called Theif. Well I steal from the Rich, give to the poor." He said, "Sometimes keep handy object like theese." He said, gesturing to the metal torch.
Siki glared at him. "Lcuky you." she said bitterly. While he was away doing good she'd been forced to steel, lie, and kill. She didnt even know what would happen to her sister if she didnt complete her mission.
Siki shrugged. "I dont know these parts, where do they let out?" she asked, she didnt like the topic they were on. She didnt like the angry pit feeling she got when she talked about things like that.
"The caves? Well there are 5 tunnels. First, you go in a few minutes later there are three tunnels. Pick the wrong one, you're sent to the dead land. Lots of blood thirsty animals no way out. Go through the right one, you go to the next passage way, or you pick the dead end and just retrace your steps to the first hall. The second one only has two tunnels. The first one you're slid down, under ground then have to walk up a lot of steps to the other side of thees moutains." He getured to the long landscape of mountains. They looked like they'd never end. "The other one, well no one knows. No one's ever came back." He said with a shrug. "The only reason the know about the other one is that he made friends with the animals some how and slipped out when they were sleeping." He explianed.
She frowned as he talked. When he finished she looked at him. "Great, that leaves us a 1 in 150 chance of sureving." she said sacastically.
"You were the one that choose this way Siki." Felway brushed past the two. "Let's go." He finished with a snarl.
Zen nodded. "Well, actually 40% since there's only two definite death traps. then 50% that we will and 10% unknown." He said, doing the math in his head.
Siki scowled. "I dont want you to live memoryless forever." she said at Felway, and followed him, ingnoring Zens statictics.
Zen snorted a little. Attis fit throught the cave. "Erm, I know the dead end is farthest to the right." He said. He glanced at Fel and sighed. "Poor compadre." He murmered.
"But you wouldn't trade my memories for your sisters life." Felway said to her. "Would you now?"
Siki didnt reply. She felt like pushing Felway into a wall. She readied a knife and looked at Felway, it was strange seeing him years later, remebering almost nothing.
Siki exchanged a look with Zen. She stopped and looked at Felway, she looked straight into his eyes. She shook her head.
Zen stopped and turned around. "Nice, mischeivous, charming, laughable." He said, softness in his voice. "A guy who doesn't care. Who cares about his bestfriend " he gestured to Siki. "And his practically brother." He said, gabbing a thumb to himself,
Siki looked up at Zen, what happened to them, the three of them, they were so close. She blew out her torch and stepped into the blackness, she couldnt look at the either of them, she continued on.
