Sashana Welcome to the group, Dessa! I love 10 Things I Hate about You, it is one of my favorite movies of all time. My favorite part is the end when Julia Stiles recites the poem. *tear*

Yes, I had heard that, Sara. I think that is why I've been putting it off. Zipped through the others.

message 464: by Mary (new)

Mary (merinwe) | 1043 comments Hello!

My Favorite Book(s): To Kill a Mockingbird (I changed schools three times in high school and ended up reading this three times in a row...hated it the first time, but appreciated it more with each read), Daughter of the Forest, The Blind Assassin, Harry Potter, Till We Have Faces, Number the Stars, and...lots more.
My Favorite Movie(s): The Princess Bride, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Amelie, Lord of the Rings, Rear Window
My Favorite Celebrity: Hmm. David Tennant, maybe? I'm kind of an obsessive Doctor Who fan. Does Joss Whedon count as a celebrity?
My Favorite Author: That's pretty difficult. My favorite fantasy author is probably Juliet Marillier - her writing is so gorgeous. I haven't read everything she's written, though. J.K. Rowling, C.S. Lewis, and Margaret Atwood are favorites of mine, too. And I just recently got into Ilona Andrews...who pretty much rocks.
My Favorite Music: Classical/instrumental music, Broadway stuff, singer/songwriter stuff like Ingrid Michaelson, A Fine Frenzy, Amos Lee, etc.
Sign: Cancer
Day Job: Bookkeeping/clerical assistant/doing dirty work for three accountants at a private accounting firm.
If I could live anywhere in the world it would be: I agree with Kirsten up there...I'd choose the TARDIS. :-) If I had to choose someplace on Earth, though, I'd choose somewhere like San Francisco, where the climate is nice and cool all year round.
Weird stuff I’m into: Hmm. Well, I collect postcards from countries all over the world through PostCrossing.com. It's pretty fun, though the postage going up a few months ago isn't very fun. I have postcards all over my apartment in albums, on my refrigerator, etc.
Why I read: I read for many reasons, but the biggest reason is to escape. I have a crazy life and I need to get away. It's nice to be able to step into a book and tune out the real world for a little while.

message 465: by Lisa Kay (new)

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 15159 comments Mary wrote: "Does Joss Whedon count as a celebrity?"

Sashana I love A Fine Frenzy! Her fans are few and far though.

message 467: by Sashana (new)

Sashana Alison Sudol from A Fine Frenzy is writing a book! I think it's awesome because she is a great lyricist.

Yes! I'm so excited, actually. I hope it's great. It kind of makes sense, as she's always been really into books and writing and talks about them a lot on her blog. Awesome to meet a fellow Fine Frenzy fan! :-)

message 469: by Julianne (new)

Julianne | 63 comments My Favorite Book(s): The Mortal Instruments, Ogre, Ogre,
My Favorite Movie(s): Practical Magic, almost all the Marvel Comic movies with The Avengers topping the list

My Favorite Music: Marianas Trench, Volbeat, Country music
Sign: Taurus
Day Job: retail (Booo)
If I could live anywhere in the world it would be: Hawaii maybe...definitely somewhere hot and sunny (but with A/C)
Weird stuff I’m into: I'm obsessive, whatever I'm into at the moment I research it obsessively, talk about it constantly, until the next thing catches me attention. I'm still waiting for fitness to get picked up as an obsession. lol
Why I read: To escape reality, because it really is so much better than watching tv - what's going on in my book is almost always more interesting than what's happening on tv...and mainly because it just makes me happy to be able to curl up with a book.

message 470: by Mary (new)

Hah, I love that there are other people that are like that. I am SO obsessive. Whenever I get into a new hobby, everyone around me is constantly hearing about it. And I always think my new obsession is THE obsession, you know? Until I find the next thing. I'm like you - I wish I could get into exercise that way.
