Naevehsa Sashana wrote: "500 books a year is easy?!! You people are seriously making me look bad. How many books have you read so far this year?"

even though I work in a library I don't actually get to read much so I'm just now starting to get back into reading again. So far this year I've read 6 but that has been in the last 2 months. I expect that since I will be jobless after next week there will be much more reading taking place. It would definitely be alot easier to get through my collection if I could just stop adding to it.-sigh-

Lisarenee | 7659 comments Hi Amanda. After reading Hunger Games I wouldn't mind learning about uses of herbs either. I just started reading Kelly Armstrong and she is one of my favorite new authors. How many of her books have your read? I've read Bitten and Stolen, but am waiting on Dime Store Magic, Industrial Magic, and Haunted. Is it best to read them in order or are some okay to read out of sequence? I'm itching to read Broken and have it sitting on my shelf.

message 16: by Lisarenee (new)

Lisarenee | 7659 comments Hi P Q. I'll have to check out The Immortals series. Looks like we may like some of the same books.

message 18: by Amanda (new)

Amanda (daughterofoak) | 3473 comments Lisarenee- I haven't read Hunger Games yet but I've been wanting to. I have read the Women of the Underworld series 1-4. I'm hoping to get the others from the library (I try to save money that way) so that I can finish the series. It might be best to read them in order, but if you're itching to get your hands on Broken, who's stopping you? :P

message 20: by Lisarenee (new)

Lisarenee | 7659 comments Amanda said,"I haven't read Hunger Games yet but I've been wanting to."

Well, I screamed at the end of the Hunger Games because of a giant cliffhanger at the end I didn't see coming. I didn't know it was part of a Trilogy. The last book comes out next month. I so want to know what happens. The second book also had a cliffhanger. So I think you were wise to wait.

Amanda also said,"I'm hoping to get the others from the library (I try to save money that way)"

I do that too and also look for the books at thrift stores. I got Stolen for a buck that way. Now if only I could find the others....

message 31: by Heather (new)

Heather | 504 comments P.Q. & Lisarenee, I've convinced several ladies on this site to read Nobody's Darling. I need to reread it to remind myself why I loved it so much. I do remember the ending and that's did it to me the most but I also loved how the heroine stood up to the hero's mom.

message 32: by P.Q. (new)

P.Q. Glisson Yep, that was priceless! :)
Another you might want to try is:
An Angel For Emily.

I tried to find you in my friends to shoot you over a recommendation but I couldn't find you amongst all my "Heathers". lol
It's by Jude Deveraux. I probably spelled her name wrong but anyway, you can go to find books and put in the title. It will come up, then click on the title and the synopsis will come up. You can also read reviews on it from others. Hope that helped. :)

message 35: by Heather (new)

Hi Sashana, Tamora Pierce has been on my TBR for ages, I really must read her books soon. Yes, fantasy is my favorite genre, with science fiction and historical fiction very close seconds. I also have a thing for trashy romances, especially if the hero is all brooding and Byronic with fangs or a British/Irish/Scottish accent. Hey, fangs AND and accent? even better!

message 45: by Lisarenee (new)

Lisarenee | 7659 comments Sashana you should check out A Kingdom of Dreams. It is very good.

If you're going to try Tamora Pierce then I suggest starting off with Terrier. The first few chapters were kinda ruff for me but it was a good book. I haven't read much fantasy books but the few that I read were really good. Mostly, I don't know many authors in the fantasy genre. Who or what would you suggest I read in the fantasy genre? I do read a lot of Urban Fantasy though and I think that every girl secrectly loves trashy romance and accents (I know I do!). My guilty pleasure is chick-lit, you can never go wrong with a good chick-lit book.

message 49: by Heather (new)

Heather | 504 comments Hey Samantha, I think the reason I have reread it is that Alec comes off as a jerk and then slowly changes when he realizes just how special Jamie is and how much love she has for his people. Alec has a heart, he is just too scared to use it, and being the leader of his people is hard enough but to show tender feelings, especially to an English woman?? That's why I love it so. Have you tried The Gift and The Secret? I love those as well.

message 50: by Samantha (last edited Aug 18, 2010 02:45PM) (new)

Samantha | 106 comments Heather, I cant read it because they didn't translated my language:( I live in turkey and speaking turkish but I learned english at my anotolian high school so I can tell people what I trying to tell but I cant read it like you :(
I love Alec because he isn't like Connor(if you read The wedding you know him) He is really king-hearted and he always trying to protect his humans and also he trying to combine all of the clans. And he is so hilarious. and I think he is really smart. I also join your thought. And I hate when author writing women characters stupid because I'm a bit feminist :)
I always send e-mail to publishing houses for translating Julie Garwood's books but they always translate paranormal books...:(
