Creature Challenge [ENDED]

Laura Lulu, I think I can safely say that it was painful for me to finish it... Most of the time I wanted to slap some sense into Mary! There's a saying in Greek that goes something like this: "He who has much and wants more, ends up with even less." Although at times I sympathized with her, she also brought this saying to my mind a lot. She didn't seem to be able to make up her mind and figure out what it is she really wanted, obsessing with either her big dream, or her supposedly true love. I'll read the next book to see how her story continues and the book was good in general, but it annoyed me more than it pleased me in the end. I can see why people either love or hate it, though. I'm in neither category so far... Have you read the next book in the series?

Yes, I read the 2nd one and I think it was much better than the 1st, and I liked the first. It's not really a continuation of Mary's story, it's her daughter Gabry's story, and she's a much more likable character than Mary. You only get a tiny bit of Mary, but it's a good bit--she looks back on her life and the mistakes she made and what she would do differently.
I just remember finishing the 2nd book and being emotionally moved by it--Ryan's writing isn't happy, but it touches me, I guess. :)

I do get what you mean, about the book moving you. But the part you mentioned - the one in the abandoned town - reeeally pissed me off. Anyway! I'll put the next one on my list and let you know what I think when I finally get to read it.
(After the 60 something books I have listed for my various challenges, and yes, I must be crazy because I'm actually considering entering several more of the new ones... Is it my fault? New year, new challenges! That's the way it goes, isn't it? :P)
