Joanna (joannaoj) | 394 comments gaaah I don't know what to read. And I want to read right now. suggestions, anyone?

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Oh, and Isa...I really liked this one. It's a bit sappier love story wise but the time travel thing was pretty cool, and I liked that there were a few bad/evil type guys in it. Still waiting on book 2 in this series to show up.
The Hourglass Door (Hourglass Door Trilogy, #1) by Lisa Mangum

message 1808: by Isamlq (new)

Isamlq @Joanna I recently read the STRANGE ANGELS books; they're really good.

@Stacia. I see that you put TRASH on your TBR. I just got a copy of that one... haven't read it yet though. Is the HOURGLASS DOUR anything like Time Traveller's Wife?

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) No. I didn't like TTW.

message 1810: by Isamlq (new)

Isamlq Stacia wrote: "No. I didn't like TTW."

OK good to know because TTW wasn't my cup of tea either. Im going book hunting in a few... hope I get some good titles :) I hope they have MATCHED... If it reminds you of UNWIND, then I'm really excited about it :)

message 1811: by Stacia (the 2010 club) (last edited Dec 01, 2010 10:12PM) (new)

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) The story isn't the same at all, I just felt like the writing style was similar.

There are a few parts that dragged a little bit more than I would have liked, but it was still a decent book.

message 1812: by Joanna (new)

Joanna (joannaoj) | 394 comments @Islamlq thanks i'll look for that book. :)

@Stacia i'm in the mood for paranormal romance that isn't annoying.

message 1813: by Isamlq (last edited Dec 01, 2010 11:39PM) (new)

Isamlq @Joanna. Sorry for butting in, for YA PNR try Raised By Wolves, Paranormalcy, Nevermore or Hex Hall... those didn't not annoy me at all and they're pretty quick reads.

@Stacia, thanks!

message 1814: by Joanna (new)

Joanna (joannaoj) | 394 comments @Isamlq thanks! I already read the first two. I'll definitely check out Hex Hall then. :)

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Hex Hall is great. Lots of snarky humor.

Haven't read Paranormalcy or Raised by Wolves (yet, but plan to), but Isa usually knows what to recommend.

I think you've read Mortal Instruments based on your Jace comment, but I didn't see them on your list. Love the humor in those books.

Morganville Vampires has a bit of a dark side to it...the vamps are not always friendly. There is romance though, and after you get past book 1 (the girl is a little annoying in the first book), the series is pretty great.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) If you're willing to try adult PNR :

Night Huntress series (I don't shut up about these, I know)
Fever series
Shifters series
Black Dagger Brotherhood series
Chicagoland Vampires series

Next book will be "Personal Demons" by Lisa Desrochers.

Joanna (joannaoj) | 394 comments @Camilla oooh! i DEFINITELY want to read the next one!!!! i am thrilled for it to come out already. :)

message 1828: by Catherine (new)

Catherine (cattymccat) | 754 comments I'm reading: The Morganville Vampires Volume 1 (Glass Houses & The Dead Girls' Dance) by Rachel Caine & A Dirty Job by Christopher Moore

A Dirty Job is a little too close to home for me right now, so I'm trying to take a break by reading The Morganville Vampires: Volume 1. I know A Dirty Job is humourous, but still. I think I'm gonna give up on it completely for now. I'll go back eventually.

Ooooo SISTERS RED!!!! Let me know how that goes for you!

So, I have decided that Pride and Prejudice and Zombies by Seth Grahame-Smith will be a filler between the books that I really get into. Just started Once a Witch (Witch, #1) by Carolyn MacCullough last night. And I must say, It's great so far!

Jean Valjean (OG 2010) (courfeyrack) I'm fiiiiiinally going back through the Vampire Academy series. I'm glad because there's a lot of things that happened that I forgot about.

message 1850: by Nikki (new)
