Kathy Anne (kathyanne) Thanks Rachel
I love ghosts and they are killers to find good ones,I`ll check it out now before I forget.

message 3: by Sashana (new)

Sashana The Hunger Games series is pretty good. The Vampire Academy series (I know vampires are getting to be played out but this series is really good). And His Dark Martial Series is great (aka The Golden Compass).

Ang -PNR Book Lover Reviews (pnrbookloverreviews) I would have to day
Lords of the Underworld By Gena Showalter
Dark Hunters By Sherrilyn Kenyon
Shiver By Maggie Stiefvater
Merry Gentry series By Laurel K Hamilton

Carol Cork *Young at Heart Oldie* (httpsrakesandrascalswordpresscom) Anything by Lisa Kleypas and Loretta Chase.

Danielle The Book Huntress (gatadelafuente) I've gotten where I'm afraid to recommend books b/c people have such different tastes. When I get asked for historical romance recommendations, I always recommend Kleypas. She's usually a sure hit.

message 7: by Alycia (new)

Alycia I have recommended The Shadow of the Wind, Outlander, The Bronze Horseman, and author Lisa Kleypas a lot. I do make sure before I recommend that there will be a good chance that the book will be liked. I don't want to recommend a book to someone who has a potential to hate it.

Rebecca Jane (bec3sjhdbzljldsgwsm) Beautiful Malice-Rebecca James

Suzanne (Under the Covers Book blog) My favourite book ever out of any genre is:

The Sugar Queen by Sarah Addison Allen

But other books I would recommend are:
The Black Dagger Brotherhood by J.R. Ward,
The Wallflower Quartet by Lisa Kleypas,
The Belgariad by David Eddings,
Thursday Next series by Jasper Fforde,
The Handmaidens Tale by Margaret Atwood.
The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins

There are others but I will leave it at that for now!

Is Sugar Queen a sequel to Garden Spells, Suzanne? I have wanted to read GS, but wasn't sure if I would like it.

Did you read book 5 of the Wallflower Series?

message 11: by Alyssa (new)

Alyssa (shyluck13) The Darkest Powers series are amazing!

Kathy Anne (kathyanne) Suzanne
You have some books that I haven`t seen on every board so I think I`ll start with your Sugar Queen, does the GS stand for Gena Showalter Alycia.

Garden Spells, I believe it is the book before Sugar Queen or related to Sugar Queen.

Suzanne (Under the Covers Book blog) @ Kathy Anne and Alycia. Nope, it isn't a series and Garden Spells and Sugar Queen are stand alone reads. You should definately read them, I love them both, but Sugar Queen is my fave. I recently read and reviewed Garden Spells(naturally it got 5*!) if you wanna check it out see if you would like it. I hope you like them as much as I did, let me know what you think : )

@ Alycia. I have read Wallflower Christmas, I liked it but I didn't think it was as good as the other Wallflower books, although it was nice seeing them all again! Have you read it?

Thanks for the clarification. I will let you know what I think. I have not read the Wallflower Christmas yet.

Suzanne (Under the Covers Book blog) Well it is worth having a look at if you like the Wallflowers, you get to see all the characters again I am hoping that maybe LK will do something on Lilliand and Daisy's other brothers, but a full length novel instead of a novella.

message 17: by Alycia (new)

Alycia I have it, I just wanted to read it closer to christmas since it seems Christmas themed. :) Thanks for your input. I would love to see more after the novella.

Suzanne (Under the Covers Book blog) Lol, that is a very good idea, to get you into the spirit : )

Kathy Anne (kathyanne) Suzanne and Alycia,
I have been wanting to find some stand alone books for quite awhile now.I like series but I also like the stand alone characters staying on my mind and not being able to get another book to find out about them, sometimes it`s good to remember and wonder about them
And these sound like two good ones to do it with. Thanks for posting about them.

I like stand alones as well, they are a nice break from series. Feel free to recommend any or ask for more.

Suzanne (Under the Covers Book blog) That's okay. I know what you mean about stand alones, although there are loads of great series, sometimes just finding a great standalone book to read can be difficult.

have you read Sunshine Kathy Anne? That is a really good book.

message 23: by Heather (new)

Heather | 504 comments Suzanne, I have recommended The Hunger Games and can't wait for Mockingjay to come out. I am #1 at the library for it.

I always recommend J.D. Robb's In Death and Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum series.

Suzanne (Under the Covers Book blog) I have preordered Mockingjay, I can't wait for it to arrive! I have put off reading Catching Fire until it arrives so I can read them all at once!

message 25: by Kim (last edited Jul 10, 2010 11:43AM) (new)

Kim (catmommie) A few weeks ago I read Hidden Wives and loved it.

I won from First Reads: The Blind Contessa's New Machine: A Novel, which was pretty good.

I normally read suspense genres, but I'm branching out more lately.

another one: Angels Fall

message 26: by Alycia (new)

Alycia I have seen Hidden Wives lately on GR and have wondered about it. Glad you liked it Kim

Oh, I second, third and fourth C.L. Wilson's Tairen Soul series! They're absolutely amazing, and I can't wait for the last book to come out in November!!!

I've also gotten hooked on Julie Garwood (I've read all but 4 of her books in the last 5 weeks) who writes the greatest heroes and Diana Palmer, who makes your heart clench (if only they would sit down and talk it out, lol) till the very end!!

I would recommend starting both of these authors with:

Julie Garwood: The Bride (Lairds' Fiancees, #1) by Julie Garwood The Prize by Julie Garwood or Heartbreaker (Buchanan, #1) by Julie Garwood

Diana Palmer: Lawless by Diana Palmer or Heartless by Diana Palmer

And of course, Larissa Ione's Demonica series, starting with Pleasure Unbound (Demonica, #1) by Larissa Ione !

Suzanne (Under the Covers Book blog) I love Julie Garwood, espeically The Prize, I think they are great.

I enjoyed THE PRIZE, too! I think that was my favorite Garwood...

Suzanne (Under the Covers Book blog) Me too, I think it was actually the first one of hers I read aswell

message 31: by Katherine (new)

Katherine With all this talk about Julie Garwood I really need to pick up some of her books.

Suzanne (Under the Covers Book blog) You definately should, I would pick The Prize or maybe her Lairds series, they were my faves.

The Bride (Lairds' Fiancees, #1) by Julie Garwood The Wedding (Lairds' Fiancees, #2) by Julie Garwood

The Prize by Julie Garwood

message 33: by Katherine (new)

Katherine Thanks I added them to my TBR list.

message 37: by Lauren (new)

Lauren | 931 comments ^ I really would like to read My Sister's Keeper sometime, but I did a not-so-smart thing and went out to see the movie with some friends. I don't like the feeling that I already know the storyline (even though I know the ending is dramatically different.)

message 46: by Neal (new)

Neal Thakkar (nnt15) | 1 comments I got a hold of the galley of this book and it was the best thriller I have read in years. There is an amazing secret world for the black market for organs that I knew nothing about and the protagonist in this novel explains it all, while racing around the globe trying to prevent a murder and trying to make up for his own sins. Incredible book. Mark it "to read" right now. The Organ Broker
