Studio Ghibli announced recently that instead of growing, their studio has financially gone back in time. Due to this they cannot have permanent animators and have to release them until they are stable again. They are only going to look after trademarks at present once the release of their two latest movies are done-- then it might be awhile until they make another, and when they do, they will hire animators temporarily like with movies pre Porco Rosso.

Studio Ghibli are like the Asian Disney and in my opinion, far superior. But as they are there for the art, not money, it has taken its toll and were disney had expanded, they have fallen. So they need to get their business in line before proceeding.

They made movies like Spirited Away, Howls Moving Castle, Laputa Castle in the Sky etc.

That's really neat, I mean sad that they are having to make budget cuts and let people go, but really neat that they have kept to their foundation statements.
