He was a favorite of mine, too!

Aim is to finish it in next 2 days (Purely because I have to return it to Library :P )
I loved Sword of Truth series when it started. But somewhere in Middle, I lost interest a bit. Too much preaching by TG??
Considering the reviews, I don't have high hopes with it. But then again, Its supposed to be about Richard and Kahlan. So I would postpone everything for next 2 days and finish it.

Was just thinking about how I wanted to have my library's copy of The Name of the Wind.

I don't own a copy, and that's the one I fell in love with.
Currently reading Prince of Thorns, as part of FBC read. On Ch. 4 and enjoying.

Glokta just gets better and better as the books go on. Enjoy!

I plan on reading the whole series through, and then a few ghost stories, and maybe that Sprunk book for the SFFBC totalitarian regime.

I read the book and believe that he should not just write about Richard anymore, he has jumpped the shark.

I'm jealous! =D

Lol, thanks! I'm definitely more on the side of carrots than sticks ;P

A have started Bloodlands by Christine Cody which is a western vampire fantasy. Different.

What should I read next? Beyond the Shadows, A Brother's Price, The Erevis Cale Trilogy or Red Seas Under Red Skies?

How can you not put volume 3 of a trilogy first? ... don't you want to know the dramatic conclusion?

I'll reserve judgment from my fellow FA'ers who like that author, but I am NOT a fan of his.
You're right, I must know the conclusion! Beyond the Shadows will be next. Thanks Carol!

I liked the first two books of Night Angel, but you can definitely tell they're Weeks' first books. The plots are a little disjointed and the action skips around between unconnected groups of characters. I'm going to give the whole trilogy a re-read next year to see if I can get a better grip on the plot.

Beyond Shadows! The conclusion is SO GREAT.

Too bad, you did not like the Crystal Shard. I guess not everyone likes a book that is light, but I find there is a lot one can learn from Drizzt, which other characters in other books often cannot be learned from.

Began Catching Fire 2nd book in the Hunger Games series this morning but not far into that yet. With several more waiting should be a good week.

Hmm, I think I'll move that to the top of my TBR list.

First 50 pages and I'm already finding it hard to read. I ended up assembling furniture that was supposed to be done by flatmate, just to avoid reading it.
Writing style is soooo different. It's as if some other person is taking notes. And Bad note-taking.

Oh, wow, that can't be good. Did you buy it or borrow it?

I've enjoyed them. They aren't anything special, but I like the writing and characters and the little dog too!

Luckily borrowed from Library.

Really? I heart the MHI series. I think its lots of fun.
Hard Magic isn't the same style but it does have a lot of guns like the first one.

I just read it recently and loved it. Laini Taylor is a great writer and has become one of my favourites. Have you read her Lips Touch Three Times?

I'm weird though. I find I have contrasting tastes with the majority at times, since I wasn't all that crazy about Hounded, either.

I'm the opposite - I thought the first two books were pretty meh, but I loved Mockingjay.

Finished Kushiel's Avatar and although I liked it and the series has become a favorite I have to gripe (view spoiler) Now that I got that off my chest. :) I'm starting Kushiel's Scion next. Thought about giving it a break but I'm looking forward to Imriel's story.

Not something I find entertaining.

I stayed with it as long as I did because of Nine Fingers but it just wasn't *enough* to keep me going. Another big turnoff for me was the political corruption and dishonesty as well. If I really want to hear depressing news about people being robbed, beaten, killed and tortured ... and about political corruption in every walk of life ... I can turn on the TV news.
For entertainment ... I'll pass.

I get that it's dark. But like I said, it's one of the best reads I've had all year.

I read and enjoyed more of the darker books and more of the *gritty reality* writing when I was younger. The older I've gotten and the more real trouble I've seen and dealt with the more I've found I want my entertainment to be less realistic. I'm definitely old enough to know there are very few 'lived happily ever afters' in real life ... but I'm also old enough to prefer 'happy ever after' in my fantasies.

I love Glokta. I think he's probably one of the best fantasy characters from the last ten years. I've got that on audio too. I love the job the narrator does with all the voices! As soon as I'm done listening to Leviathan Wakes I'm going to finish that one.
