I love that series! It starts off slow, so don't be put ..."

Good to know. I'm about 30% through and I've had trouble getting into it. It seems to be picking up now with big events starting to happen. I'm hoping I enjoy it since I already have the second book waiting on my TBR.

Danielle The Book Huntress (gatadelafuente) I finished The Warded Man (Demon Trilogy, #1) by Peter V. Brett yesterday. I enjoyed the heck out of it although the beginning was a bit hard to get into.

I too enjoyed that book and the following one in the series. I hope you enjoy the next one.

Danielle The Book Huntress (gatadelafuente) Angelmass, I'm tempted to buy The Desert Spear when I go to the bookstore tomorrow!

message 1455: by Angelmass (new)

Angelmass | 17 comments Do it! But then you'll be sad that there's not another one =(

Danielle The Book Huntress (gatadelafuente) That always sucks when you get caught up on a series and the loooong wait begins!

Oh thank you for that. I've been eying this book but you've just made my mind up for me...no reason to start it with the end no where in sight.

Do you know I left the Kushiel's Scion books on my shelves for years because she hadn't finshed writing the entire thing. Yes, I bought them as they came out but didn't start reading until book 3 was about to be published.

Danielle The Book Huntress (gatadelafuente) No problem, MrsJ. I do have to warn you that it has some stuff you might not like. You can PM if you want details.

message 1459: by [deleted user] (new)

There's also The Great Bazaar and Other Stories, Lady D. It's set in the same world. And, personally, I enjoyed The Desert Spear a bit more than Warded/Painted Man. It's more from Jardir's POV, so your mileage may vary.

Also, yeah, it might not be to your liking, MrsJ.

Danielle The Book Huntress (gatadelafuente) I didn't really care for Jardir in The Warded Man, so we'll see, Ala.

Nicki, sorry I didn't know that.

message 1461: by [deleted user] (new)

Thanks Nicki, I never saw that one before :)

Lady D, I wasn't a fan of his either but changed my mind after Desert Spear.

message 1462: by Sandra (new)

Sandra (sleo) "Scuse me, but what's LARPing? Out of touch here. I just read a good urban fantasy called Spiral Hunt. I had gotten tired of them, but a friend loves this series, so I gave it a try. May read #2 soon.

Currently reading Black Sun Rising: The Coldfire Trilogy #1, just finished Silverthorn, am starting Berg's The Spirit Lens.

The Warded Man did not engage my interest at any level, so I gave up halfway through. No objection to the story line, just didn't find the characters convincing or the demons, for that matter.

message 1463: by [deleted user] (new)

LARP=Live Action Role Playing.

Basically, you dress up in costume and act out RP games.

Ah! Thanks. Doubt if I'll be participating. :D

Danielle The Book Huntress (gatadelafuente) I have Spiral Hunt, Black Sun Rising, and The Spirit Lens in my tbr pile, so I'm glad you liked them, Sandra.

message 1466: by Lori (last edited Apr 16, 2011 03:53PM) (new)

Lori I'm reading The War of the End of the World which is so strange it is kind of like fantasy. Then deathless

message 1468: by Christine (new)

Christine I'm reading The Wise Man's Fear I'm a couple hundred pages in and loving it.

message 1469: by Amanda (new)

Amanda M. Lyons (amandamlyons) Todd just started Wise Man's Fear and keeps cackling so I assume it has funny bits toward the front. I'm still working on graphic novels myself.

message 1470: by Christine (new)

Christine I don't remember anything amusing but maybe I haven't got to that part yet. Its a big book!

message 1471: by Scott (new)

Scott | 165 comments I just finished A Game of Thrones.

Now I'm going to start Death Mask. My first foray into Masterton.

I haven't picked a book to read since I finished Unfamiliar Fishes(which I enjoyed).

It's not that I don't have choices, I just don't wanna read right at the moment...

I know you posted something, I just don't want to read it though, so I'll pretend you asked about aardvarks.

They have out of prints...

message 1483: by [deleted user] (new)

I'm back Denae :) Ala's lack of desire to read is actually my fault. I got in about fifteen books over the weekend and had a bit of a reading orgy. I had to tap into his desire, plus a fair amount of caffeine to read to my heart's desire. I'll let him get back to his usual pace now ;)

message 1484: by [deleted user] (new)

I hate when you do that. It's so unseemly.

message 1485: by [deleted user] (new)

Well I have boxes and boxes of wet wipes. Seems a shame to let them wile away the days

Whooosh! Right over my head.

message 1487: by [deleted user] (new)

Grant just has bad aim.

message 1488: by [deleted user] (new)

I used the phrase "reading orgy". Ala called me unseemly. I made a lewd joke insinuating the orgy was one that would require cleanup using baby wipes rather than simply a whirlwind of very pleasurable reading. It wasn't over your head your just got hit really hard by that ninja car *pats your hand in sympathy*

:D

So guess I'll start a re-read of that.

At work, I'm reading (on my iPod) my very first Star Wars novel: Deceived (Star Wars: The Old Republic, #2). It's pretty great so far!

message 1499: by Laura (new)

Laura (booksbytheflame) Maybe he should move to Australia; age limit here is 18 :)
