Rossy mentioned you didn't have recs.. So in case your partner doesn't have time, here are the ones I would recommend:

from your TBR

Lover Eternal by JR Ward... I saw you read the first BDB book and gave it 3 stars... I personally loved it, but did think that the second book (and especially the third) just got better and better.. I would totally recommend you giving it another shot! Rhage is the heartbreaker in the Brotherhood, and he becomes beastly when he gets mad.. Mary is a sweet and sick human woman for whom Rhage falls big-time..

Dying Bites by DD Barand is on my TBR as well, and I've heard good things about it:-)

Kitty and the Midnight Hour by Carrie Vaughn - the first of the Kitty Norville (werewolf DJ extraordinaire) series.. Add in a sexy werewold hunter and some "killer" undead, and you get a great UF read:-)

Crazy Hot by Tara Janzen: 1st in the series.. I enjoyed them, and thought they were a lot of fun:-) They start off a little weird, but it's the "basic" secret spy/special forces group of sexy men going around saving gorgeous girls and blowing things up:-)

Kiss of Midnight by Lara Adrian - Group of hot immortal vampire warriors (the Breed) saving the human race from the rogue vampires.. Lucan is the head of the warriors, and can't get attached to a woman, but - big surprise here!- naturally he meets his mate.. I love this series!

new to you

Every Boy's Got One by Meg Cabot: I found it to be a light and fun read that I very much enjoyed.. The story is told through emails/letters/diaries, so you get the POV from all the characters, which I find cool..

Dream Man by Linda Howard - I saw you enjoyed LH's other books, and this one, while it has a psychic element, was (for me) well worth the read.. I loved the interaction between Marlie and Dane, which was very fun!

Lord of the Fading Lands by CL Wilson: Now I know you asked for UF, PNR, CR and YA, but I have to recommend this book: the first in a 5-part series, it's a mix of PNR and fantasy and major romance, and is my absolute favorite read! The interaction between Ellie and Rain is beautiful, the secondary characters amazing, and the books just get better and better (even when you didn't think it possible!)... I recommend this one with all my heart:-)

City of Bones by Cassandra Clare - first in the Mortal Instruments (YA) trilogy, very well paced, with a twist at the end that left me gasping..

The Darkest Night by Gena Showalter - Lol.. yet another 1st book in a series about Immortal warriors who each house a demon: Wrath, Pain, Lies, Death, Violence,... This book is about Maddox, whose body houses Violence, and how he meets sweet and psychic Ashlyn.. I loved this series way more than her Atlantis books!

The Fire Rose by Mercedes Lackey - Just adding it on in case you like Beauty & the Beast retellings... I do, and this would probably some kind of historical fantasy romance, lol, but one I thorougly enjoyed:-D

Ok... phew... I hope you find something here that you'll love, Diane! If nothing interests you, let me know and I'll browse some more through your extensive TBR:-) Otherwise, enjoy!

Hi Cloe, thanks for the recs. I will probably read all books some day in the future, but for now I'll choose "A Deadly Game" and "1984" by George Orwell.

Melanie,

Thanks for pitching in at the last minute and picking for me. You gave me some great options. I think I'm going to try for Dying Bites and I'm putting Dream Man and Lord of the Fading Lands on my wishlist and if I get them in time (and have time with all my challenges), I'll read one or both as well.

I'll have your list up in a few. Thanks again!

Diane ~Firefly~ | 1512 comments Melanie

Wow, when I saw the size of your TBR, I wasn't sure I'd be able to find anything new for you! And I thought mine was huge...

TBR
The Marriage Test by Bettina Krahn - you seem to like historicals and while that isn't my favorite genre, this is one I've held on to for many years because I enjoy the story. It's a marriage of convenience for the groom to have the bride be his cook.

Men of the Otherworld by Kelley Armstrong - I saw you read most of the werewolf stories in this series. I just recently read this book (which tells of Jeremy's birth, Jeremy raising Clay and an adventure with Jami and Jeremy) and loved it. Plus the author is donating money to charity from the sales of this. So it is a win-win.

Simply Irresistible by Kristine Grayson - this starts the fun trilogy where The Fates are sent to our world powerless and are being protected by some interesting characters.

Dying to Please by Linda Howard - one good Howard rec deserves another! I really like the premise that Sarah is a butler/bodyguard which is very unusual.

New to you
Moon Called by Patricia Briggs. I was shocked that she wasn't on your shelves. While you don't seem big in UF, I think if you like Armstrong you will like Briggs. If you don't want to take the UF leap, check out her short story in On the Prowl which starts her PNR series in the same world.

The Wizard of Seattle by Kay Hooper - I saw you enjoyed her contemporaries and thought you might like this PNR. It is a bit older, but still a great story about Atlantis.

Weddings Can Be Murder by Christie Craig - I saw you enjoy Crusie and figured you would also like Craig. Her stories have lots of humor and heart.

One good fantasy rec also deserves another - although I'm going to make it two.
Pawn of Prophecy by David Eddings. This is the first book (of 5) of The Belgariad. It is classic fantasy starting with Garion's youth as an orphan being raised by his aunt on a farm leading to leaving the farm with his aunt and others on a mission. One of my favorite all time series that I'm currently re-reading.

The Mirror of Her Dreams by Stephen R. Donaldson. This is book 1 of 2. It starts a bit depressing (the heroine is considering suicide) but she is pulled into another world through her mirror that is going through troubling times and needs her help. There is a lot going on and some very interesting characters.

And a few extras I thought you'd like but are probably OOP.
Gift of Gold by Jayne Ann Krentz - older book where JAK was just starting to play with the paranormal. Love the hero, Jonas.
High Energy by Dara Joy - quirky book where they meet and the hero falls instantly and does whatever it takes to keep the heroine around. In this case it is investigating a phony psychic.
Highland Knight by Cindy Miles - A bunch of knights are cursed and only have physical bodies at night. When a writer visits the keep, she helps them discover why.

I hope something strikes your fancy and you enjoy whichever one you pick. :)

Kristina Simon (kristinasimon) Ari

You've got a lot of great books on your TBR shelf (many of which are on mine, too ;o)). So here goes...

From your TBR shelf:
1. Gone With the Wind by Margaret Mitchell -- If you're in the mood for a historical, you can't go wrong with this one! I finally got around to reading it the end of last year and loved it.
2. The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins -- I noticed that you seen to like YA dystopian fiction (The Giver and Uglies) so you might like this one. I found it really disturbing. It certainly makes you think about what our society could become.
3. Love Walked In by Marisa de los Santos -- I found this and it's sequel, Belong to Me, really sweet. I'd definitely read them in order, though.
4. Royally Jacked by Niki Burnham -- I haven't read this one, but it sounds like a perfect, light-hearted beach read to me ;o).

New to you:
1. Life As We Knew It by Susan Beth Pfeffer -- if you're in the mood for some YA dystopia, I liked this one better than The Hunger Games. But that might be because I'm a science geek ;o).
2. Dance Upon the Air by Nora Roberts -- I noticed that you're reading Nora's latest, but you're not rating them all that highly. If you're in the mood to give her another try, this is the first book in my all-time-favorite series by her.
3. Welcome to Temptation by Jennifer Crusie -- if you're looking for something funny and light.
4. The Fire Rose by Mercedes Lackey -- this is probably the first historical romance I'd ever read and I really liked it. It's a blend of historical and fantasy, a retelling of Beauty and the Beast.
And one last one because I can't resist:
5. Garden Spells by Sarah Addison Allen -- this is a contemporary with just a touch of magic. Very sweet.

Hope you can find something in here that you're interested in reading, but, if not, just let me know and I'll try again ;o). Happy reading!

Desperado (lethallovely) | 822 comments Danielle, it was a pleasure looking through your shelves. I really hope you find something you enjoy from my recs.

From Your To-Read Shelf:
1.Cry Wolf by Patricia Briggs~I was rec'ed this book a few months ago by Nairabell & I thought it was great. It has a bit more romance than Brigg's Mercy Thompson series. I would advise you to start with Alpha & Omega, the short story in On the Prowl as the events of this novel begin right after the ending.
2.Halfway to the Grave by Jeaniene Frost~This series is fantastic, imo. The heroine is kickass & the hero reminds me of Spike from Buffy the Vampire Slayer. It's a nice mix of UF & PNR.
3.Dead Until Dark by Charlaine Harris~ I'm sure you know a little about this series as it's now been turned into an HBO show. The novels are almost nothing like it is on HBO. It has a nice combination of humor, mystery, romance, supernatural & horror.
4.Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead~Rose is one of the best Paranormal YA heroines I've come across in a long time. She's strong, fiesty & loyal to those she loves. There's also a forbidden romance in this series.
5.Fantasy Lover by Sherrilyn Kenyon~I thought this was a pretty good first novel in Kenyon's Dark-Hunter series. I will say that I consider this more PNR-Lite because of the humorous situations the h/h get into in every novel.

Cry Wolf (Alpha & Omega, #1) by Patricia Briggs Halfway to the Grave (Night Huntress, #1) by Jeaniene Frost Dead Until Dark (Sookie Stackhouse, #1) by Charlaine Harris Vampire Academy (Vampire Academy, #1) by Richelle Mead Fantasy Lover (Dark-Hunter, #1) by Sherrilyn Kenyon

New to You Novels:
1.A Hunger Like No Other by Kresley Cole~ I think this is a fantastic series with fun, loveable heroes & heroines, not to mention the sex scenes are HOT.
2.Pleasure Unbound by Larissa Ione~I think this is also a great PNR series, although it's a little darker than you might be used to. Wait, you read BDB. Nevermind, LOL.
3.Playing with Fire by Katie MacAlister~This is one of MacAlister's newest series & I love it. The first book suffers a little from first-in-series syndrome (characters finding their footing/excessive world-building/some things not being explained fully et cetera) but you should definitely give it a try.
4.Daughter of the Blood by Anne Bishop~This is one of the first Fantasy novels I've ever read & it did not disappoint. I love the world-building & how you really connect with the characters.
5.Abarat by Clive Barker~This is also another Fantasy novel I read way back when I thought & it was beyond amazing. I'd read it just for the illustrations scattered throughout the novel but the writing is pretty awesome too!
6.Black Ships by Jo Graham~I noticed you've read & enjoyed a few Historical Fiction novels & I think you might like this one too. It's a retelling of The Aenid & set around the Trojan War. It also has a few supernatural elements & it made me cry.

A Hunger Like No Other (Immortals After Dark, #2) by Kresley Cole Pleasure Unbound (Demonica, #1) by Larissa Ione Playing with Fire (Tales of an Extraordinary Girl, #1) by Gena Showalter Daughter of the Blood (The Black Jewels, #1) by Anne Bishop Abarat by Clive Barker Black Ships by Jo Graham

I hope you find something you like. Have fun!

I hope you enjoy them.

The thing to remember with Moon Called is it is UF, so there is very little romance in the first couple of books, but it does eventually get there...

I'm not surprised most of those are hard to find as I believe they are out of print (OOP), but I thought The Wizard of Seattle was available on Amazon.

Ari (moochew12) | 159 comments Kristi:
Stolen – I loved this one as much as the first. It definitely is suspenseful, Elena is taken!
Animal Farm – I had to read this in school. And I am skeptical about talking animal books, but it’s something everyone should read. I find it so relevant to today’s society. (Same for 1984--this ones more science-y.)
Reincarnation- sounds really good, if you are in the mood to travel in time.
Annie's Ghosts: A Journey Into a Family Secret- I feel like I may have heard of this one before. It sounds sort of depressing though, so not sure if you would want to dive into such a sad mystical story.

New Reading for you:
Into the Wild – This isn’t really a mystery per se. But it kinda has an air of that. I find myself wanting to get into Chris’ mind to try and find out what his thought process was. An engaging story.
Mr. Peanut- This sounds humorous, and a mystery at that. The only thing is, it just came out so if you were to be ordering it from a library or something there may be a lot of holds…
The Imperfectionists – Sounds good too. Came out recently too. Enough of that…here’s some other good looking books:
Midnight in Death – 7.5 in the “in death series” a Nora Roberts. I saw you read Silent in Death, this is like a really shorter version. o.O
The Fifth Victim- This is a beginning to a series. Very suspenseful I hear.
And something light, and entertaining Stargirl by Jerry Spinelli. This is different, I read it when I was younger so I don’t remember it much. Kinda just a random addition to this list lol.

Halfway to the Grave, Black Ships & A Hunger Like No Other. If you saw some rec's that your really interested in, you don't have to read them all this month. You could always put them on your TBR shelf to read at a later date.

Here's my recs for you. I'm not much of a mystery reader but hope you find something new here and (like myself) dust off a few from the TBR list. Cheers

~from your TBR list~
1.Sweet Revenge I haven't read this but it looks good :)

2. Thrill Me to Death Haven't read this yet either but its also on my list

3.Odd Thomas I read this a few years ago and loved it in fact I plan on reading it again

4.Storm Front Another pick from my TBR list (damn you have good taste)

~NEW to you~
1.Naked in Death I see you're a fan of Nora Roberts, then you'll fall in love with JD Robb's Roarke.

2.The Lucky One I really liked this romance with an aura of mystery throughout

3.Show No Mercy My fav romantic suspense series. These Black-op BOI's are awesome, sexy, exciting, funny I can't get enough. This one has Gabe's story, one of my top "lit boyfriends"

4.Thunder Moon Paranormal Romance. Part of the Night creature series. This is fine as a stand-alone with an exciting who-dunit mystery, sexy Cherokee doctor and tough yet funny sherriff heroine

Thanks Pollyanna for the rec!
I enjoyed the Eileen Wilks story as it was a standalone - and different in its approach. Also the Rebecca York, although it was part of a series, you didn't need to have read any of the books to get it.
The Hamilton & Davidson stories, however, you really needed to know the universes to understand the stories - I just skimmed the Hamilton one. The Davidson wasn't so bad, just when they arrived to see the new queen, a knowledge of the history would help.

See you on the lists again some month, I'm sure!

Conspiracy was good. I'd give it a solid 3.5/5. The humor is there. The characters are good as always. Just a good solid book. Better than Holiday but not quite up to Vengeance were I to rank the last three.

I'm glad you said that cuz I was just struggling to decide between Start Me Up and Lord of Scoundrels for the "funny romance" in the July challenge. I don't know if I want to read a HR or Cont. Any ideas?

Dee (austhokie) | 7316 comments i loved them both...lol! but if you want funny, I would probably go with Start me Up - lords was funny, but more in a witty way (if that makes sense) - i'm reading a paranormal for mine

I've finished The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest by Larsson and it was AWSOME! A bit different from other two in the series, but equally good in my opinion. The work it took the author to create such detailed plot...! I enjoyed the book immensely. Great, wonderful pick :D Now, I plan to read To Kill a Mockingbird (at last...). As soon as I finnish books I currently read.
Thank you, Kristi!
