So his story is told in a different plotline and not in the current case plotline?

No... If I remember correctly the plotline that is in book #1 continues and then there is a 2nd part of the book where the MC re-connects with his family. Abusive family. He is trying to save his brother out of the clutches of his father. He has a VERY dark backstory but it's readable due to the narrative. It's an interesting book even if the pacing is not perfect.

Is this a MC? Surely it takes all sexual contact except maybe a careful bj with a condom off the table?

I really love those anthologies.

The pacing was a bit off in this book too. After the first part of the investigation ends and before the final resolution (from 75% to 90%) it dragged some. Probably it was to allow a bit of time to the main characters to solve or come to terms with a few issues, but I was already thinking ahead, so my reading was somewhere and my mind somewhere else.

Sagajo | 179 comments Kaje wrote: "Is this a MC? Surely it takes all sexual contact except maybe a careful bj with a condom off the table?"

No sexual contact is possible I think... he doesn't even hug his family. In the 2nd story he has a life-threatening injury and they can't treat him, even if they use gloves, because he is giving off so much heat.

The other MC is a mage that is osmosic, he sucks energy from people. He IS able to touch the fire mage.

Ah, yes, that would make it interesting. A combination between "here's someone I can finally touch" and maybe a touch of resentment at "here's the only person I can touch and I don't get to choose". I'll have to check those out.

Guess so; my imagination is coming up with a whole story already. I love the premise. (And I'm so glad to let go of the image of giving birth to a smoking-hot infant. The process is painful enough as it is.)

You're anticipating!!!

The mage is older than the other man. That's something to consider too.

I want to see at which point you won't be able to resist and read it, lol

It's a very interesting story, psychologically. And I like that Astrid didn't make the Osmosic mage "perfect", that there was a struggle.

Hell Cop I has the first story with how they meet and start a relationship. Hell Cop II has the story when the Osmosic mage struggles with his powers.

As long as you didn't buy it twice ...

Strangely enough, for all I tell people I don't go for covers, Crazy Wind is one book that I would have bought for the cover alone. It's gorgeous

Crazy Wind here's the link

mc | 1308 comments I'm not really a cover girl, either. I appreciate them, but it doesn't make a difference in my book buying, particularly when it comes to ebooks. Clearly, I was designed for radio.

So, did you like Crazy Wind?

As far as buying it twice, I do appreciate that FW tells you if you own it already. Of course, if you've bought it from the publisher or elsewhere, that doesn't work. Which is why I started a 'master list' of m/m ebooks and try to keep it relatively updated. Kaje, I am so impressed! (I'm also thrilled that in this Kindle world in which we live, there's another Nookie!)

I've been reading a LOT, but oddly very little is m/m (though may backlog is bigger than Lucy and Ethel at the chocolate factory). I've been on a mystery binge, with a few biographies thrown in.

I've also been re-reading some tried and true favorites in the m/m canon. But I need to stop doing that, because I've been staying up too late, and that is not good.

message 5242: by Becky (new)

Becky (fibrobabe) | 1052 comments Crazy Wind didn't send me. The premise was interesting, but one of the heroes spent half the story drunk, and was quite possibly the least sheriff-like sheriff I've encountered.

Yvonne's review pretty well explains my feelings about the story. (Although I gave it 3 stars. Don't really remember why now.)

Now, that you mention it, yeah; his situation was very poignant. It's actually been a long time since I read Hell Cop. I did read both books, I think. Both were available at that time, as I recall. I didn't love them. But with the different authors, some were definitely better than others. And I bought those anthologies for Amara's stories, because I had just read The Archer. Maybe I wasn't in the right frame of mind for them.

Whoa - 8 or 9 books? I think I am hopping off this train until they're done. I have series phobia - I hate cliffhangers, and they almost have to do horrible things to the MCs and the relationship in order to keep things moving. I haven't even read (lowering voice) the Dangerous Ground books because of that.

Sarian | 17 comments Hiya Mr. Lanyon,

I heard you are going on a sabbatical next year. I hope you will have a fun filled and relaxing time.
Does this mean you will not be doing anymore Jessewave contributions or blog or anything like that while on sabbatical?

Also, I just finished reading the DG serie which was totally awesome. I luv how it ended. Will there be more to this story or is this it?

For your sabbatical may I recommend a new female m/m mystery writer named Kaje Harper whose writing kinda reminds me of your writing. You guys both have excellent mad story telling and page turning skills. She came out with two books "Life Lessons" and "Breaking Out." I wanted to recommend these two books to you for your sabbatical if you have not read them yet. They are very well written and right now she has a free short story called "To All a Good Night" (Life Lessons 1 1/2) that goes between the two books in timelinewise and it is free on Kobo and Amazon. Lastly, she is also offering a free novel called "Lies and Consequences" on Kobo only so anyone can download it. I was really surprise to see a 240 page novel for free. I just wanted to add to you long, long list of books you have waited for some free time to read and now you have that time. 8-D

Thank you so much for all of your wonderful stories and I look forward to reading new ones in 2013. Take care and have fun.

Sarian

Ayesh | 418 comments Wow...finally finished Divide and Conquer and what a book :D I think after the first book, relationship wise Ty and Zane really grew on me this time and loved every moment of their time together, specially the texting in the office thingy :P but the last line of this book really confused me. Ty's "walls r closing in on me" was confusing. Did he mean that he's suffering claustrophobia again bcos of the previous incident or he's being panicky cause now Zane finally said the three words?? Can't wait for the next book though, authors r gonna sync their Warrior's Crosswith cut and run this time :D

message 5250: by [deleted user] (last edited Oct 17, 2011 11:16AM) (new)

I LOVED Divide & Conquer and the whole Cut & Run series so far, whatever problems the authors have with POV or pacing or anything else is completely overshadowed by how much I adore the characters. The Warrior's Cross sync in the next book just about put me over the edge of squee-sanity. My inner fan-girl is going berserk!

And harkening back to an earlier post about The Locker Room by Amy Lane, I've read almost every one of her books and have adored every single one, ESPECIALLY The Locker Room. It was rather over the top in some places, but again, the characters! Amy is right up there with Josh on my list of authors I can not get enough of.

Also recently finished Barging In by J.L. Merrow and loved it. I also loved Muscling Through by Josephine Myles. Both were wonderful and definitely different than my other favorites.
