new_user You use spoiler and /spoiler like an HTML tag. Click on the "(some html is ok)" link. :D

message 52: by Literary Ames (new)

Literary Ames (amyorames) | 1854 comments Oh, yeah. *blushes* I actually looked at that list but didn't see it. Thank you!

message 53: by Vivian (new)

Vivian (_vivian) | 1934 comments Oh yay!!! I've been so annoyed that they hadn't worked in spoiler tags before!

to insert spoiler:

< spoiler > write in spoiler stuff < /spoiler >

omit spaces between < >

message 54: by new_user (new)

new_user Np, Ames! It's pretty new. I'm glad because we really needed something for spoilers!

message 55: by Deborah (new)

Deborah new_user wrote: "Hey, you can use spoiler tags on GR now! Did everyone know that?

This is a spoiler, dude."

Just be aware that the spoiler will no longer be hidden if it is quoted in a reply.

message 56: by new_user (new)

new_user Ah, yes, that's the downside. It's usually well into the message though in the text the reply function doesn't grab, so hopefully that's not too much of a risk.

Sandra | 25908 comments GR is testing a new header, to check it out -

test new header here to make comments go here

message 58: by FlibBityFLooB (new)

FlibBityFLooB | 173 comments Everyone already probably knows this, but I think it's cool. On the author pages, they are showing the series associated with the author below their books. Yay! :)

message 59: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments I saw that, Sandra. I think it looks nice. I've been lurking and reading everyone's thoughts on the change. I'm fine w/whatever, so I haven't posted any comments. I spend more time around the groups, than on my home page(s), so figured I'd leave it up to everyone who does to comment. I'll be interested to see what they end up with when taking all those comments into consideration.

Flib, I LOVE that! I hadn't noticed it. It will definitely have me visiting authors' pages more often, for sure! Thanks for sharing that update.

message 60: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25908 comments It will be the header on every page not just the home page Miss Steph.

And yeah, forgot to mention the 1st 7 of each author's series has been added to the author page under the book list. If you click on them it will take you to the series page and all books will be listed for that series not just the 1st 7.

message 61: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments OIC. I do kinda like the search being on the right - not sure why, habit/same ole, same ole, maybe?

message 62: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25908 comments Yep, I prefer it on the right side too. So go tell them that! Right NOW!!!! LOL

message 63: by Steph, Serious series addict (last edited Feb 13, 2011 10:05PM) (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments LOL! Ok, okaaaay. ๏̯͡๏

ETA: All done, Just please don't get Mad. LOL! :D

message 66: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments I don't refresh my main page enough, but today I spotted GoodReads' "Jane Eyre" challenge (read the book & watch the movie). I'm guessing they'll have more to come. Should be fun to see what else they come out with for us.

Goodreads' Jane Eyre Challenge - Read the book & Watch the movie

message 67: by Vivian (new)

Vivian (_vivian) | 1934 comments Hehe, I literally just saw that linked in another group and was going to mention it here. I didn't realize challenges were becoming such a big thing!

message 68: by Steph, Serious series addict (last edited Feb 17, 2011 10:21PM) (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments :) I'd seen mention of GR challenges on their feedback group a while back, but didn't realize they'd done more than the 2011 one. Should be interesting to see what else they come out with.

message 69: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25908 comments Hmmm, they said there'd be more coming, so this is the first one.

message 70: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments Hoping for something less classical in the future. :)

message 71: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25908 comments Sorry to those that love Jane Eyre, but you couldn't pay me enough to read or watch it.

message 72: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments LOL! I'd watch, but not up to reading. Not my cuppa either.

message 73: by Vivian (new)

Vivian (_vivian) | 1934 comments Jane Eyre is like the one classic I love. Granted, haven't read it in years, but I remember loving it at the time, lol.

message 74: by Laurielu (new)

Laurielu Bona Fide Reflections | 50 comments *gasp*

What happened to the 2011 Reader Challenge where it kept tabs the ratio of books read to 2011 reading goal?

message 75: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments They keep moving stuff around. But, no worries, my dear. You can access it at anytime here: http://www.goodreads.com/challenges/2

message 76: by Laurielu (new)

Laurielu Bona Fide Reflections | 50 comments Thank you, Steph!

Laurie, its on your profile page on the rhs down about midway.

message 79: by Laurielu (new)

Laurielu Bona Fide Reflections | 50 comments Thank you, Sandra. I found it right where you said it would be.

:)

message 80: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25908 comments Glad I could help :)

message 81: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 2883 comments I just saw this, it is a Plug In someone developed to sync between goodreads and Calibre, here is a therad that discusses it. Plug In

message 82: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments Cool. Thanks for sharing, Regina. I only use Calibre as needed, not routinely. So, I probably won't use it, but great knowing it's there in case that changes. :)

message 83: by Vivian (new)

Vivian (_vivian) | 1934 comments Hope it's just me, but did anyone notice when you look at a book, the box with the common shelves is gone?! Did it move?? Am I going crazy?? How am I going to find out what shelves a book is in now?! This is madness.

message 84: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25908 comments Vivian, I just checked At Grave's End (Night Huntress, #3) by Jeaniene Frost and the Popular Shelves was there.

What book did you look at?

message 85: by Vivian (new)

Vivian (_vivian) | 1934 comments Ah, mine's broken. It's not there! I looked at about 5 different random books, I think I noticed it first with River Marked?

message 86: by Vivian (last edited Mar 05, 2011 12:33AM) (new)

Vivian (_vivian) | 1934 comments Oh wait, it popped up when I did a ctrl-f search for it. Hmmm...maybe I am going crazy...

ETA
No, I'm not going crazy! Just did Death's Excellent Vacation (Includes Night Huntress, #4.5; Sookie Stackhouse, #10.1; Aisling Grey #4.5) by Charlaine Harris and it's gone again.

message 87: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25908 comments Vivian, I just clicked on the book icon and popular shelves was there.

Maybe you need to clear your internet cache (Tools) and log off Gr & log back on.

message 88: by Vivian (new)

Vivian (_vivian) | 1934 comments I figured it's something a simple restart would fix. If that doesn't work, I'll clear my cache and try again (gotta get rid of certain incriminating evidence anyways ;) ) As long as it hasn't disappeared, I'm not too worried anymore, thanks :)

message 89: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25908 comments ROFL at squidliness :D

message 90: by Vivian (new)

Vivian (_vivian) | 1934 comments Shhh, we're not mentioning the S-word anymore. It conjures up scary images we'd rather not be reminded of, remember?

message 91: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25908 comments Sorry, :( you're right!

message 92: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments LMAO!!

message 93: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25908 comments We can now get lists using big cover pics of the latest releases by genre.

Go to explore on the header, genres, romance, then it lists sub genres like paranormal. Urban fantasy is under Fantasy.

Go have fun and a play around.

message 94: by ൠSinful (new)

ൠSinful (sinful) | 7 comments I am diggin' that one. It's tough to find a list of UF outside of Listopia or group threads.

message 95: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments Cool! Thanks for sharing, Sandra!

message 96: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments Ok, what's up w/the search feature? Anyone else notice the newish auto list of books when you search (w/out hitting enter) is now gone? Will it return, do ya know, Oh, Wise Librarian? I didn't realize I'd gotten so used to it.

message 97: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments WTH!?! I searched "One Grave at a Time" and this is what I got back!

Instead of finding One Grave at a Time, I got this mishmosh: http://www.goodreads.com/search/searc...

I'll have to remember tomorrow to pop over to GR feedback group and see if they mention any wacky issues w/search. :\ Boo!

message 98: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25908 comments Yep, there is a bug in search, I've posted your problem Steph, but of course, it's the weekend so when the programmers get back to work they'll have a look.

message 99: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments Thanks! I appreciate you doing that. I meant to and got distracted.

message 100: by AH (new)

AH | 2271 comments This isn't a goodreads goody, but I was on Netgalley today and they have in the SciFi and Fantasy sections books that say READ NOW. Looks like an instant approval to read. There were at least 3 books marked that way, if anyone is interested. I got Frost Moon.
