Shelley Finished Magic at the Gate (Allie Beckstrom, #5) by Devon Monk - not bad. Look forward to April for the next release.

Next book to read: Doubleblind (Sirantha Jax, #3) by Ann Aguirre

message 902: by Ladiibbug (last edited Dec 27, 2010 07:34PM) (new)

Becca (goblinfan) | 215 comments Finished Marked by Cast, and Supernatural: Witch's Canyon by Jeff Meriotte. Definitely surprised how much I liked Marked, so I'll be keeping an eye out the next one.

message 904: by Rizzaleen (new)

Rizzaleen | 10 comments finished The hunger games series by Suzanne Collins. I love it! Very addicting :0 Still looking for my next book.

message 905: by Rebecca (new)

Rebecca (bexsi) I have finished Wild Magic (Immortals, #1) by Tamora Pierce Wild Magic An immensely enjoyable read 4 stars
Cry Wolf (Alpha & Omega, #1) by Patricia Briggs Cry Wolf there are so many character holes you start to wonder if you have just caught the "punchline" and missed the main event 2 stars
The Shack by William P. Young The Shack I quite enjoyed it , but found some of the religious ideas difficult to fathom 3 stars
Beastly by Alex Flinn Beastly This book was recommended to me by a friend for a reading challenge and I am so glad I read it. I found the book which was written in the Beasts point of view to be an enlightening read 4 stars
I have started Catching Fire (The Hunger Games, #2) by Suzanne Collins Catching Fire and Once Bitten, Twice Shy (Jaz Parks, #1) by Jennifer Rardin Once Bitten, Twice Shy

message 906: by Paula (new)

Paula (pauldajo) I put Branded by Fire down and am listening to The Enchantment Emporium which is a good listen, but the family's breeding program is a bit disturbing. Also listening to Zombies vs. Unicorns, a bunch of short stories, many of which are creepy. Good narrative between Holly Black and Justine Larbalestier. I continue to read Spider's Bite.

message 907: by Shelley (new)

Shelley Finished Doubleblind (Sirantha Jax, #3) by Ann Aguirre ; next up is either Bone Gods (Black London, #3) by Caitlin Kittredge
or Gabriel's Horn (Rogue Angel, #13) by Alex Archer
or The Passage (The Passage, #1) by Justin Cronin

Not like I don't have a library full of books to read!

message 908: by Shelley (new)

Shelley Gabriel's Horn (Rogue Angel, #13) by Alex Archer was a pretty decent read. I would really love to know who wrote this one since they have been rotating between different authors. If anyone knows, PLEASE, let me know...THanks!

Struggling with the passage and may say I am finished with it so that my challenge can be completed before 12/31/2010. Not sure why anyone would want to write 794 pages.

SO that leaves me with Bone Gods (Black London, #3) by Caitlin Kittredge ; Fire Study (Study, #3) by Maria V. Snyder ; Unholy Magic (Downside Ghosts, #2) by Stacia Kane

message 909: by Ladiibbug (new)

Ladiibbug JF the last two books in the challenge ending 12/31:

The Vampire Princess by Michael Romkey by Michael Romkey - 4.5 stars/5. Romkey's vampire books are outstanding imo, tho written before the recent explosion in the genre. This one is like "Dracula meets the Titanic"

Succubus Dreams (Georgina Kincaid, #3) by Richelle Mead by Richelle Mead 4/5 stars. Sparkley writing, highly entertaining series. Georgina is a succubus who drains men of their energy while having sex with them. In this #3, she discovers her energy is being drained. Her friends and acquaintances (imps, angels, demons, etc.) help her investigate. Loved the angels getting an expanded role in this one!

message 910: by Shelley (new)

Shelley The Passage (The Passage, #1) by Justin Cronin ; Finished at 3:00am this morning! YAYAYAYA! Unholy Magic (Downside Ghosts, #2) by Stacia Kane begins today.

message 911: by Tina (new)

Tina | 17 comments So on a lark I purchased The Greyfriar (Vampire Empire, #1) by Clay Griffith because I had to use a $10 credit at Borders before the end of the year. It's receiving very strong ratings on Goodreads. I'm only about 30 pages in so far...and it's got a lot of action so far and some interesting characters. We'll see!

message 912: by Shelley (new)

Shelley Finished with Unholy Magic (Downside Ghosts, #2) by Stacia Kane ; am I like the only one who hates Chess when she continually does her drugs and treats Terrible like crapola? Just saying!

Bone gods / Kittredge, Caitlin
Fire study / Snyder, Maria V
Dancing on the head of a pin : a Remy Chandler novel / Sniegoski, Tom

Are my next three to read.

message 913: by Tasula (new)

Tasula | 150 comments Tina, I loved Greyfriar.

Shelley, I liked Fire study- you read the previous books in series first, I hope. I thought Poison study was the best (and first) of the series.

I just finished Maria Lima's Blood Bargain, pretty good- vamps, fae, shifters.

message 914: by Tasula (new)

Tasula | 150 comments Shelley, this is what I saw online about the Rogue Angel book you wondered about:
Gabriel’s Horn, is a must read for any adventure fan. Mel Odom ghost-wrote this wonderful story

I read it a month ago and thought it was pretty good, but some of the others I thought were tedious. After seeing the series had different authors, now I know why.

message 915: by Shelley (new)

Shelley Tasula,
Yeppers, read the previous two books and agree that Poison was the best so far. I have Blood Bargain in my pile to Read list (borrowed from library). I can't help myself with the Rogue Angel series. I have to read them all now. I heard that these books were actually written by a revolving door of writers from here on out. I would love to truly find out which writers wrote what books ya know? Thanks!

message 916: by Tasula (new)

Tasula | 150 comments I know Mel Odom wrote at least 2 of the books, not sure about the other Rogues. If I find out, will post it.

message 917: by Shelley (new)

Shelley These are the books Mel wrote that I know of.
Destiny (2006)
The Spider Stone (2006)

God of Thunder (2007)

Im gonna start the Mercy series shortly, I did read Alpha & Omega.. LOVE IT!!

Shera (Book Whispers) (sherabookwhispers) | 204 comments Currently reading Matters Of The Blood (Blood Lines, #1) by Maria Lima

So far I'm not impressed. The first chapter has one of the poorest first chapters I have read in a long while. I'm going to stick with it since it is a debut novel.

message 925: by Rebecca (new)

Rebecca (bexsi) I have finished Once Bitten, Twice Shy Once Bitten, Twice Shy (Jaz Parks, #1) by Jennifer Rardin 2 stars
Kiss of Midnight Kiss of Midnight (Midnight Breed, #1) by Lara Adrian One of the scenes particularly creeped me out -the one where Lucan performs a sexual act on the heroine while she is sleeping. Apart from that it was ok I've been told that the series gets better so I'm not giving up on it yet. 3 stars
Last Sacrifice Last Sacrifice (Vampire Academy #6) by Richelle Mead I found this one very slow until about half way through then it really did pick up and got really exciting that I couldn't put it down. I liked it, but it didn't leave me feeling much afterwards like the previous five novels in this series. It's no Blood Promise BUT still a very good read I love the cover design, The black heart made up of dragons, birds and flowers over the blood red background, the dripping blood effect and the simple silver lettering. 4 stars
Catching Fire Catching Fire (Hunger Games, #2) by Suzanne Collins a great number of plot twists were beyond anything I had imagined. And I didn't expect so much of it, Rest assured that this book destroys superbly the idea that the second in a trilogy is the weakest. If you have not read The Hunger Games, do so immediately. 5 stars
I have started Angels' Blood Angels' Blood (Guild Hunter, #1) by Nalini Singh

message 926: by Tina (new)

Shera (Book Whispers) (sherabookwhispers) | 204 comments I've paused in my reading of Matters Of The Blood (Blood Lines, #1) by Maria Lima , I hadn't realized how many good books were coming out on Jan 4th.

Me too. I read on Laura Whitcomb's blog that she's finished a draft of the sequel, which has me all kinds of curious. Her writing is just gorgeous.

message 945: by Shelley (new)

Shelley Finished Vampires Not Invited (Night Tracker #3) by Cheyenne McCray and also Bitter Night (Horngate Witches, #1) by Diana Pharaoh Francis -- Bitter Night is an excellent read and definitely one that should be added to your TBR listing.

Next up... Traitor to the Blood (Noble Dead, Series 1, #4) by Barb Hendee ... Clockwork Angel (The Infernal Devices, #1) by Cassandra Clare (although it's possible I may skip it)... Blood Law (Alexandra Sabian, #1) by Jeannie Holmes
