I loved Guernsey!,,
I've been trying to get through Middlesex by Jeffrey Eugeuides, one of my book clubs is reading it. Also reading Paradise War by Stephen Lawhead, and Idiot America: How supidity Became a virtue by Charles P Pierce.

Then I read somewhere that it was really vulgar so don't think I ever will read it. So many other books come along...
I received a Kindle for Christmas - so excited! I had the first version Sony Ebook but the screen quality and the no wi-fi/3G made me want a Kindle.I am reading Every Last One: A Novel by Anna Quindlen.
If you have any tips/tricks for the Kindle please share :)
Three Musketeers (thank you Gutenburg)&
Grant and Sherman: The friendship that won the Civil War
Just finished Bush's memoirs too
Elena wrote: "I just finished The Pillars of the Earth. I wish I could take back all the hours wasted on it.Moving on to The Waste Lands
. It is great..."I read The Pillars of the Earth and hated it. While I appreciated the research efforts into how cathedrals were built, every other chapter included random intimate acts much like a Daytime TV Soap Opera.
Got my Kindle for Christmas, but also hospital visiting so I've not even tried it out yet. I'll get there!

I was looking for this one. Was it free in the Kindle Store? I just got done listening to an audio version and was nostalgic for the book, but wanted to find a free version.....
my Kindle came and I'm reading too many books at once. It's cool. I pick what I'm in the mood for. right now, it's Portal, DRACULAS , Firefly Island, an Epic Fantasy, and Space Junque.really fun toy
Thea
One Insular Tahiti still on sale .99 but for a limited time
Just finished 'the prisoner' and know on 'the island of Dr Moreau' by H.G.Wells...I forget who wrote the Prisoner which is remiss as it was a good book and better than TV tie in suggests
I'm reading Sacred Games by Vikram Seth, and when I take a breather (that is a MAMMOTH book!) I'm reading Toni Morrison's Love.
Ive read alot of free ebooks especially the classical ones. My first purchased ebook from Amazon is: The Art of Racing in the Rain by Garth Stein. For free ebooks, I finished the ff: A Christmas Carol (Dickens); The Princess and the Penis; and The Ballerina, the Gymnast, and the Yoga Master by RJ Silver. Silver's books are short stories available in manybooks.net and smashwords.com.My wishing list include the trilogy stories written by Steig Larsson and Jodi Piccult stories.
I also read "Room" recently and found it an interesting read. Am currently reading "Still Missing" by Chevy Stevens which is along the same lines as "Room". It too is a good read.
I'm reading 'Mariana' by Susanna Kearsley. Not my usual read cos I'm a historical romance addict and this is a combo of time slip, ghost story and romance. However after a slow start I'm really getting into it and enjoying the change.
Brand new Kindle, my first, for Christmas. It read one of my own short stories to me. I also bought and started Moby Dick, which I'll mix with other, less Classic, reads.
Very Cool.
Now reading 'The Torture Garden' which was 75p..starting as a political satire but getting darker as a read....a compelling book
Albert wrote: "Kathy wrote: "Does anyone know how much can actually be saved on the kindle?"The 2nd generation Kindle can hold up to 1,500 books. The newest Kindle can hold up to 3,500."
I have 1100 in archives and 1100 in current files. I have a Kindle 2 and when I need one in archives I just select it and download again.
Free is wonderful!!
Andrew wrote: "Just finished 'the prisoner' and know on 'the island of Dr Moreau' by H.G.Wells...I forget who wrote the Prisoner which is remiss as it was a good book and better than TV tie in suggests"Is your Prisoner book the one that was written at the same time as the original TV series, if so, it's by Thomas Disch.
The Prisoner
Currently reading Why I Love Singlehood. Something totally different for me but I am quite enjoying it
Reading The Distant Hours by Kate Morton - the large format paperback was really hefty and it's so nice to be able to hold it in one hand!
Annie, I love the Kindle for that feature in particular. It's hard not to buy extra digital copies for all my big books.I'm reading a couple of dead-tree books, and Whitechapel Gods on my Kindle.
Miriam wrote: "It's hard not to buy extra digital copies for all my big books..."Downloaded The Crimson Petal and the White today - small print defeated me in paperback, looks so much more manageable in this format...
I got my Kindle in November, and I first read a manuscript a friend had emailed to me, so much easier on the Kindle vs the computer. I read 3 Christmas books, and one holiday short story, and now have started "A Scattered Life" by Karen McQuestion. I've added many free and low price books, in new genres too, but heck the free ones....what's to lose? I love my Kindle!!
I'm about halfway through
The Arms Maker of Berlin
by Dan Fesperman and finding it better going after not being sure where it was heading at first. It's two novels in one: A present day hunt for secret archival materials; and a backstory set in WWII-era Germany that takes up half of the story. I'd call this an intelligent thriller about uncovering the past.
Happy New Year!
Steve
haven't started reading on mine yet, am thinking of reading dracula's guest and trying some samplers as well
Currently reading The Justice Game, which so far has potential but also can QUICKLY become hokey and annoying. I like the concept because I have a very strong opinion on the central focus of the novel, I just hope the ending bodes well with how I feel on the subject and not the other side...although it will be interesting to see the arguments for both.
I'm reading Blood of the Wicked by Leighton Gage, an American who lives and writes in Brazil, his wife's home country. It is the first book in his Chief Inspector Mario Silva series. Silva is a Brazilian federal cop who faces all kinds of problems in an area rife with corruption. SoHo Press, the publisher, made it available for free on the Kindle as a promo for the fourth book in the series, Every Bitter Thing. The books have received great reviews. Leighton is a colleague of mine on the Murderous Musings blog. Check it out.
I'm now reading Bill Bryson's Neither Here Nor There and I have also started Pandora's Star by Peter F Hamilton, which is a 1100+ page monster but thankfully I'm reading it on the kindle so it's nice and comfortable to hold :)
Recently finished Mr. Monster, by Dan Wells. Currently reading The Book Thief, by Marcus Zusak.
I keep downloading samples, so my to read list keeps expanding--somebody stop me! :)

It doesn't get really bad until you've got 300 or so "hey, look that's a free book!" sitting in your TBR collection.
Someday I might get to the samples.
Someday.
I have had my Kindle Wi-Fi since September. Prior to that I had two different Sony's but had battery problems with each and glare with the second one. I just finished "Shantaram" by Gregory David Roberts and am beginning "The Handmaid's Tale" by Margaret Atwood.
I receive my Kindle in the first week of december. And now I am in my four book.
I start with a Orson Scott Card book (The puppet shadow)
And after that I continue with the hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy.
And I im reading the Stephen king's Dark Tower serie.
I am in the second book now.
Its great in one month I have reade more than the past 3 years.
And that is great I bring the kindle to everywhere.
And today I start requesting books to http://netgalley.com/
I'm reading Ken Follett's Pillars of the Earth and have his two other new books on my Kindle. The Kindle works best with hefty books. You don't get discouraged and it doesn't break your back carrying it around. :-)
I'm reading the newly formatted version of The Judging: The Corescu Chronicles Book One
. It's vampire horror, but also edgy Christian fiction. Creepy. If anyone else is reading it, let me know so we can chat. They're discussing it all month on the Christian Fiction Goodreads group. FUN!
Out of the 8 books in my currently reading list I'm actively reading "The Wave" by Susan Casey and "Heart Shaped Box" by Joe Hill, while occassionally dipping my toe into "The Lost City of Z" by David Grann. I'm enjoying the Joe Hill because it is a good old ghost story horror, not the flood of Vampire and Zombie books currently posing as horror.
Currently reading The Warrior's Apprentice(which was a free ebook - formatted fine for the Kindle)and Decision Points.
Amanda wrote: "just started The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks, looks like it's going to be a good one"Heard good things about that one. Eager to hear your review!
Amanda wrote: "just started The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks, looks like it's going to be a good one"I loved this book. I thought that it was one of the top ten books that I read in 2010. I hope that you enjoy it.
