You can get it for free, but I bought the formatted one with an active TOC, for about $1, it is supposed to be the first detective story written, it is very good so far.

Hi, Regina. I got the free Moonstone version. That and a bunch of H. Rider Haggard books, that are old favs, when I first found out about Kindle for PC and Ipod. I'm about 1/2 way and still liking it. I can't say that for everything I've read, lately, but this one is a good one. I'm also reading Portal, Way Station by Clifford D Simak, and The Innocent Man: Murder and Injustice in a Small Town. I like all 3 of these, but have to admit The Innocent Man really incenses me.
I just finished UR a short novella about a hot pink Kindle.I enjoyed it so much I decided to continue the theme. next are Ami and The Book both also kindle and ebook related stories.
Just got done withMockingjay. The Hunger Games was such a great series! I'm now reading The Book. It started out great, its slowing down a tad but its still really good. My next read will beKindle Tips, Tricks, and Shortcuts by Michael Gallagher. Only $.99 and I'm sure it will be very resourceful. I love his blog which I get on my Kindle for $.99 per month
Regina wrote: "I hadn't heard of H. Rider Haggard, just looked at his books -- they look interesting!"Haggard is one of my all-time favs, especially King Solomon's Mine and She. I hope you will enjoy him as much as I do.

My next read ..."Thanks for the tip on the Kindle Tips book. I should get my K3 this week, although I doubt it will be Tues, as estimated. I'm READY!
More Blood, More Sweat, and Another Cup of Tea. I wasn't so sure about it when I started reading it, but now I am so into it, I cant not finish it. Its a about an EMT in England, stories of some of the things that happends to him while working and his view on the public health care system in England. Its a light read, and so far I am enjoying it
I'm reading Karl Marlantes'
Matterhorn: A Novel of the Vietnam War
as my fiction and slogging through Steven Pinker's
How the Mind Works
as my non-fiction. My wife and I are reading aloud to each other
Freedom: A Novel
by Jonathan Franzen and my son (11) and I are reading
The Mysterious Benedict Society and the Perilous Journey
by Trenton Lee Stewart. All on my Kindles (I have two on the same account).

Nothing right now I'm waiting to order my K3 so I'm trying to clean off my book shelves as much as possible before I get it.
The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest by Stieg Larsson. I am reading the last one of the series for my in person book club. I really love all these books.
I'm reading the Elephant's Journey by Jose Saramago, I followed someone's suggesion and found netgalley.com and this is the first book that was sent to me by a publisher to read and review. The reviews I checked out so far look good, but it's not the easiest book to get into, not sure if i want to continue. Any feedback from others?
Just finished The Miernik Dossier by Charles McCarry -- a masterpiece of a literary espionage/mystery novel that deserves more praise. Unfortunately it's not out for Kindle yet. Now I'm on to L.A. Requiem by Robert Crais. First time I've ever read him. About a quarter into it and am not yet hooked, but I'm sure that will come. It's tough to beat James Lee Burke in my book, and that's who I'm always comparing other good crime writers to. Maybe I should just enjoy the read ; )
Steve wrote:It's tough to beat James Lee Burke in my book, and that's who I'm always comparing other good crime writers to.I'm not a huge mystery or crime story reader but i do love James Lee Burke. I just finished Rain Gods. It was good but my favorites are the Dave Robicheaux books. "Tin Roof Blow Down" is one of my favorites.

Currently reading the second book of the Powerless young adult fantasy series, called The Shadowing. I'm really enjoying it and will probably finish it pretty quickly. Somebody was comparing it to The Hunger Games and I can see why. Riveting!

I am reading The Black Moth by Georgette Heyer; The 19th Wife by David Ebershoff; The Queen's Fool by Philippa Gregory; My Name Is Russell Fink by Michael Snyder; and soon I will be re-reading Hide In Plain Sight by Marta Perry!
A Bomb Built in Hell - Andrew Vachssconverted PDF. I've been meaning to read it for years and finally have gotten around to it.
I am reading Mini Shopaholic by Sophie Kinsella, The Pumpkin Thief byMelanie Jackson, Earthly Joys by Philippa Gregory and a trip to the BeachSo many books so little time
Karen
Immortalis Carpe Noctem - Kate SalidasI am embarrassed to be reading this.
It's awful. But now I have to finish.
Because I stupidly paid $3 for it.
Camille - I've wanted to try a Philippa Gregory, but also interested in The 19th Wife. Want to suggest something for my face to face book club. Which do you recommend?
Deanne wrote: "Camille - I've wanted to try a Philippa Gregory, but also interested in The 19th Wife. Want to suggest something for my face to face book club. Which do you recommend?"My book club read The Other Boleyn Girl by Philippa Gregory and we all loved it. It's my favorite of her books and I've read most of them.
Deanne, my book club also read The Other Boleyn Girl by Philippa Gregory and loved it. I think it would be a great pick for your book club.
The Den of Shadows Quartet - Amelia Atwater-RhodesYes, I know I just ranted about an awful paranormal romance, but this isn't so bad, especially considering that the girl was 13 when the first novel of the series of four was published.
I'm reading The Rational Optimist, the new Matt Ridley (it was free for a fraction of a second there, and I scooped it up) and the Gunslinger, the first of Stephen King's Dark Tower novels. I'm skeptical about this one, but I've enjoyed so much of his horror writing that I thought I'd give it a try.
Jackie wrote: "I am currently reading
."Jackie, I listened to audiobook, I think I got it free. I enjoyed it very much.
I'm reading Great Expectations both on my Kindle/iPhone and in paper. I'm reading it for my RL book club and didn't expect to like as much as I am.
Steven Pinker's How the Mind Works as my non-fiction. His stuff is interesting, but he's such a prat that I find him hard to read. His book on language had me throwing the book (pre-Kindle obviously) across the room a number of times.
Pam wrote: "I am reading

Yes, his book is a quick read, but hysterically funny. Got it on Kindle for $10, which is kinda high for such a short book, but IMO well worth the money for the amount of enjoyment I got out of it. However, since I don't follow on either twitter or facebook, I am unsure that some may be repetitious.
I just started reading The Zookeeper's Wife: A War Story by Diane Ackerman for my in person book club.
I'm enjoying Operation Mincemeat by Ben Macintyre -- non-fiction history about an Allied intelligence ruse during WWII that involved planting a dead, faked British officer to wash up on the shores of Spain carrying papers that would fool the enemy about the invasion of Sicily. Lots of nice background about the quirky intelligence officers who cooked up the con, many of whom were novelists and frustrated adventurers. I usually read (and write) historical espionage fiction but this is doing the trick. It was also a movie called The Man Who Never Was. As far as the characters go, it's about as close to fiction as you can get.
I just got my Kindle 3 and the first book I read was The Hunger Games. I enjoyed it, it was a page turner. Now I am reading the second it the series. I love that I could down load it immediately after finishing the first book and get started right away.
Right now I am reading Intervention and I love it, I can't seem to put it down. It hits close to home and some of the things the mother in this story is going threw, my family can relate, and sometimes I hate reading or hearing about families with someone effected by drug problems, but like I said, I can't seem to put this one down.
I finished Great Expectations, but am still reading Untold Stories and just started Kings of the Earth. Both are excellent its just that the Bennett is long and best read in small bits.
I just ordered Intervention on my Kindle, can't wait to start it! Finishing up More Blood, More Sweat and Another Cup of Tea.........
Kathy wrote: "I just ordered Intervention on my Kindle, can't wait to start it! Finishing up More Blood, More Sweat and Another Cup of Tea........."Are you enjoying More Blood, More Sweat...I have been going back and forth on if I want to d/l that or not. Sometimes it sound really good and than sometimes it sounds not so good. Let me know what you think?
Currently on Ichabod I am reading James Potter and the Hall of Elders' Crossing. I really excited about native pdf except that it just shrinks the page to fit the screen and the text is uber tiny. You can enlarge it but it doesn't wrap or whatever the term is and you have to scroll back and forth and it is pretty obnoxious. Yep!
I am enjoying it, not deep reading but it's interesting reading about the life of an ambulance driver in London....the people they meet and situations they get into.
Kathy wrote: "Are you enjoying More Blood, More Sweat...I have been going back and forth on if I want to d/l that or not. Sometimes it sound really good and than sometimes it sounds not so good. Let me know what you think?"I loved it, have close ties to EMS and dispatch a specialty ambulance.
It's still free, which is about as low a risk as you can take on a book.
