Currently Reading? Just Finished?

I am currently reading Cross Fire by James Patterson.

I love Audible. I'll have to remember your recommendation--sounds like something I would enjoy. Thanks.

You better get busy then, Avisek!

Have a couple of books by Ian Rankin so may go with one of those next.

I read Nairobi Heat recently. Very interesting mix of African/American policeman investigating a US murder in Kenya which also intersects with Rwanda, genocide, corruption, criminal life....
Strongly recommend the Kwei Quartey series set in Ghana, the Malla Nunn series, Robert Wilson's fabulous Bruce Medway series set in West Africa, and I'm sure there are more...

You've got a lot of great reading ahead of you on this series, Anthony! I, too, am a fan of C.J. Box's Joe Pickett series. Once you catch up on his series, two similar authors I recommend are William Kent Krueger and Craig Johnson.

I was raised in that general MT/WY area and spent much of my adult life there so am very sensitive to even small 'errors' in location and attitudes, which makes me much more critical, of course. C. J. Box and Margaret Coel both write series set in that but I've never gotten involved with their characters.
I discovered Craig Johnson with his first book. He does everything right, his characters are people I actually *know*, his locations are real and some of them you wouldn't know about unless you'd really been there personally.
Another author that does it equally well in a very different way is Peter Bowen. Many of his books are written around the clash of the ranchers and the incoming tourist/conservationist groups and he really has that down accurately.

and thinking it's the finest literary fiction I've read since Peter Carey's

I really enjoy the relationships in this series, particularly that of Sara & Jeffrey. I won't give anything away, but for those who have only read books 1 &/or 2, I want to add that I am anxious to get to book 3 because I'm a bit worried about Lena & how her behavior & thoughts are concerning... I can almost hear ominous old-time soap-opera music in the background along with, "Tune in next book when we find Lena..."

Hi Sandra, the Grant County series is great - you have a few good books to look forward to. Try the Will Trent series also by Karin Slaughter (great name for a crime author by the way), the first in that series is Triptych. Enjoy!

I love Karin Slaughter and the Sara Linton series that you're reading is fantastic. Lena is a very complicated character and seems to have a self destruct button which she can't help but keep pushing. I hope you enjoy the rest of the series!

Good, there were some parts i wished there weren't but it was nice reading Bella's and Edward's end.

It's quite different to his other books which I think of more as historical - this is more techno-thriller, like Daemon by Daniel Suarez with a lot of information on the financial markets, so interesting as well as a thriller. My full review to come soon :)

I really liked .All the Flowers Are Dying, but then I haven't yet read a book by Lawrence Block that I didn't like a lot

Pete,
Just want to give you a shout out for mentioning "Tristan Smith". One of my favorite books of all time that most folks I recommend it to can't seem to get into.
Given that, while I'm not a huge Lethem fan, I'll check out Chronic City.

Now reading my first Tess Gerritson The Sinner - hope it's as good!

I am waiting for Jacob to come out. Guess you got a ARC. Lucky. I read his first two, Mission Flats and The Strangler and they were both very good.
