I;m reading that off and on. When it came out I had about given up on Mr. Rennie Airth - it was taking so long for him to do a second book. But there is also a third now ... patiently waiting for me in the corner.

I think I've read all of Michael Connelly's (I read series in the order writen when I can, too) and agree, The Poet was really good!

First was Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie. He has followed up with 2 more which are on my TBR shelf. I guess like the rest of you that pile just keeps growing with recommendations from you all and my own favorites.

Disappointed with Sister? Was it bad or just wasn't your type Patricia? Although when it comes to the former, I only begin to understand from the 2nd chapter onwards...so yeah its kinda cool now. Except for the confusion of reading their names...

I'm reading, just started today Burden of Proof by Scott Turow, I read his Presumed Innocence many years ago.

I am now listening to The Pawn by Steven James. It's about a serial killer and an FBI agent with a unique way of investigating crimes. So far it's really good.
Has anyone read The Eight by Katherine Neville? I'm thinking about buying it from Audible but I don't want to waste credits...

I read the Poet by MC the jac mcavoy series, i enjoyed it..

I hope you enjoy it. I thought it was great.

If you're just coming fresh to Michael Connelly, you've got a lot of very good books ahead of you!

Hi Elizabeth, The Ice Princess is an upcoming book for my in person book group so I'd love to know what you think of it.

I am 3/4 through with The Ice Princess and I really am enjoying it.The character studies are very involved and fascinating.
It is a book where you cannot miss a word.
Enjoy!

Hope you enjoy the Tony Hillerman books. I think I read and enjoyed all of them

Next on the list is The Fall by Guillermo Del Toro.

:)

It wasn't bad but had expected a lot more. It was jsut okay and nice for me.

Hi Kelly. They're well worth reading if you love Sayers, but it's best if your expectations are not too high. (And you should definitely read them in order!)

Hi, Aprilla -
I'd go for The Pawn :-) I just downloaded The Rook and The Knight from NetLibrary. I've a few books in my queue before I can get to those, though...

I read a number of those books ... until I remembered that I hate cats. Too many seemed relatively the same and my view of her writing had faded.
There were some interesting characters but the fact that there cats (the title should have tipped me off ) and I was losing interest in her writing made me stop.
Are they still being published? And Is she still alive?

Thanks Doreen, I will go for The Pawn first. I think that's what I wanted to do but have the JT Ellison book longer so had some guilt issues LOL
I should be finished with Laura Lippman's What The Dead Know this evening. I'm really enjoying it, both the story and the narration... it kept me awake way too late last night. Ah well, I tell myself now that reading into the wee hours is an advantage of a shorter work week!

I like it that she gave the main character an inheritance of billions of dollars and changed his living location to the 'northwoods'. I guess I do like cats, the first one I read was The Cat Who Talked to Ghosts (I also like ghost stories, and mysteries so it sounded good on the library shelf). I also like it that there are a lot of little mundane every-day-life details, such as what he feeds the cats or what he has to eat himself, both at home and when he takes someone to dinner...many people abhor that sort of thing, but it sounds very 'homey' to me.

Moving on to Crooked Letter, Crooked Letter by Tom Franklin today.

Indecision is over, next up is The Pawn ...
