I just finished reading Red Mist and was a bit disappointed in it. I have read all the Kay Scarpetta books and the last few have really been hard to read. Her regular characters, which I once enjoyed started to change and acting totally different. Now I find I can't really get into the "new" changes in her characters. For a change of pace I'm now readingDare to Die. I love the quirky characters and the way the author includes the titles of other mysteries.
Hi everyone, just started Lisa Gardner's Alone today, has anyone read anything of hers. I just started reading again recently after investing in a kindle, so please feel free to suggest new authors, thanks n advance.
Sarah wrote: "hi Linda thanks I am enjoying this one so far."Lisa Gardner's books are really good Sarah! I'm glad you're enjoying it. WAre you into mystery/suspense novels?
I read all kinds, fantasy, sci-fi, crime or thrillers, so long as the story is good and the characters likeable,
Yeah it's definitely a plus when the characters are good. I'm really into mystery and thriller. I like romance added in as well.

Once I read Alone, I had to read the rest of the series right away! I'm now reading her other series, which I'm loving too! She's definitely one of my favorites!
I finished Two for the Dough by Janet Evanovich. Some laugh out loud moments but didn't like it as much as One for the Money. I also finished A Lonely Resurrection by Barry Eisler. I like the character John Rain but his chapters tends to go on too long at times. Great story but lots of details.
I am currently reading Glory in Death by J.D. Robb which is second in the In Death series and I am loving it. Fast paced, set in the future, with murder and romance. Excellent so far.
Just finished The Girl with the Dragon TattooStarted Gone for Good
I really don't get all the hype with GWDT. I felt the writing was poor (or perhaps the translation) and there were times when paragraphs would drag on with dribble I could care less about.
Hey Gang!I just started Tana French's "Broken Harbor". It's the first book of her's I've read. So far, she has an interesting voice in her characters but the details are dragging the story into the slow lane. Anyone else read her work?

Just got In the Woods but haven't started it yet. It's a big book so hope it doesn't drag too much. When I'm finished will let you know.
Linda wrote: "That's to bad because Red Mist is on my must reads, as soon as IT can get to it of course."You may like it Linda, that was only my opinion. I guess when we follow a series of books we become familiar with the characters and when the author changes them we're left thinking, no they wouldn't act that way.
Hi Sarah,Lisa Gardner is another great crime thriller author, I have read one book and really enjoyed it.

Sean
HiJust finished David Mark's The Dark Winter, a little slow to start but gets better about half way through.
Just starting lee Child The Hard Way

Thanks Aiesha! I am aiming to read all the books in the series this year as a challenge. I just hope I don't get bored.
i'm reading the In Death Series by J.D. robb > Loving it. I'm reading on my Kindle Tami Hoag. Just finished
and it was the best of the series yet. So stayed with Harlan Coben for his second young adult crime book
, which is so far probably better than the first.
Just finished William Gibson's
Zero History
, the last in the Bigend trilogy. 2.5 stars, rounded down.I posted my review at http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/... in case you're interested.
I just finished Night and Day and Split Image by Robert B. Parker. I loved both books, which feature Jesse Stone, and these also had Sunny, the P.I. in them. The dialogue is wonderful and witty, and I am going to miss Parker's books. I understand someone else is writing them now. Is that correct? I don't know what I feel about that.As an aside, I just tried to post something about my own new book but didn't succeed because I was informed I needed something in the context. Couldn't figure out what that meant. I'm new to this site.

Just starting Jim Kelly latest Shaw/Valentine entry called Death's Door... he's a really solid contemporary mystery. I think I like it because most of the characters are my age so there's lots of references that bring me back.
I have just finished Chemistry of Death by Simon Becket. A really good thriller with loads of twists. Thoroughly enjoyable and highly recommended. The Chemistry of Death
Just finished Betrayal and I think Patricia Highsmith fans will like this author's books. They are all stand alones, Now starting Birthdays for the Dead.

Looks interesting. I put it on my Kindle Wish List.

I've read lots of Lisa Gardner's books and love them. I have two in my library I haven't read yet, but will start one this week. My daughter just told me about the latest Jack Reacher novel and I want to get that one. Joan
There are two books I'd like to mention, both of which I read recently. They're by new authors, and I was quite impressed. One is Hitler's Silver Box by Allen Malnak. His protagonist is a doctor who tracks down his uncle's killers, and takes the reader back into history during World War 2. The author is also a doctor. The second book I'd like to recommend is Equity of Evil by Rudy Mazzocchi. His novel relates to the medical field also, and I found it impossible to put down. He has also written a second book, Equity of Fear, which I haven't read.

Reading The Passage by Justin Cronin. Pretty good so far. Lots of characters with different lives starting with a government cover up and they all connect eventually during a vampire apocalypse.
I'm reading The Rope by Nevada Barr, one of my favorite mystery writers. Today I started the audio book version of Whitley Strieber's Critical Mass.
I finished The Black Box by Michael Connelly; Harry Bosch is trying to solve a cold case that's 20 years old.
Just finished Koontz's City of Night, Frankenstein book 2, and have started book 3. Some of the better Koontz novels.

In the Woods is the first in the series, then The Likeness...I've read and loved both of those, and am up to #3 in the series, Faithful Place then Broken Harbor...I would recommend they be read in order, because of the characters, but that said, I'm sure you could read them as stand alones as well:) I hope you enjoy it Connie!
I finished The Last Man by Vince Flynn. Wow! It's probably his best book. I'm now reading The Faithful Spy by Alex Berenson
Kathryn wrote: "Thanks Aiesha! I am aiming to read all the books in the series this year as a challenge. I just hope I don't get bored."I definitely understand! That's a great challenge and hopefully with those crazy characters, you won't get bored. They make me laugh in every book... but I do find that I have to take a break to read other things just to change up the pace.
Just finished up
The Next Accident this weekend and it was really great! I love Lisa Gardner and I can never figure out who the villan is in her stories! Just the way I like it! :)I started
Caught last night. I'm only 25 pages in and I love it already! Harlan Coben is nothing short of greatness!!
