Currently Reading? Just Finished?

Oh, yes ... I'm a fan. Read all of them, have quite a few of them in my re-read l..."
Me, too. I love the idea of Mrs. Pollifax and her unlikely but delightful adventures. Gilman has a few other books that are also really good stories: A Nun in the Closet for example, and Caravan.

Two others I like very well are The Tightrope Walker and The Clairvoyant Countess.

I jsut finished Gone Girl as well. I did NOT like the ending either. I don't think i've ever read a book that made me as mad this one did!!

Skimmed through my 50-some books sitting on my Kindle and ended up downloading

This series managed to make it to my 'must buy' list with the first book. The modern small western town and rural law enforcement characters compare well to my other two favorite authors with series set in the modern west ... Craig Johnson and Peter Bowen.

Someone recommended these to me about 6 months ago and I love them. My friend cant stand Gamache and says he's too smug!!
This was an odd read for me as I had managed to read this one and the one after it out of sequence which is perhaps more crucial at this stage in the series than any other - if anyone out there had read them they will know what I am on about. I love the setting of the small town - a bit Agatha esque - it works very well especially as the regular characters are not immune to being suspected!

A good book! It was very difficult to get away from my computer (it is an ebook). Although it is a nice twist, I am not sure if I like the ending.

I really love this series too, Penny. It surprises me to hear your friend thinks Gamache is too smug. That's about the very last term I would use to describe him. But I really love all the supporting characters, too. I don't know how you can read books out of order. I could never do that, I would always be wondering what I had missed in the backstory of the characters. Do you plan to go back to the beginning now or read them as you find them?

I really liked the book and had no problem with the ending. IMO, (view spoiler)

I read Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn, and I agree with Gatorman. (view spoiler) I really enjoyed the book and all the twists and turns. A real psychological thriller!

I had a problem with the fact that she got away with murder and got to have her "happy" ending.

I just love the character of Ruth, her and her ducks, she is such a novel person.
I just finished The language of bees by Laurie R. King and am now well into the next in the series, The god of the hive. I have to say that King's Mary Russell series is one of the few series out there that seems to get better with each new offering. I highly recommend it, even for people who aren't fans of Sherlock.
On my Kindle, to and from work, I recently finished the 4 book bundle of Game of thrones and loved it, even though I'm not a big fan of epic fantasy. Taking a break before I get into Dances with dragons. I think I'm leaning towards starting the Phyrne Fisher series by Kerry Greenwood. Managed to get the first 10 at a steal when Amazon put them on sale ... Some are still free or around $2.80 if anyone wants to give them a try.

Dark Places is one of my favorites.

i just ordered this from the bookstore :(

The Skeleton Box is excellent. Enjoy!

Erin, that last part really needs to be in a spoiler tag. Those who haven't read it yet don't want to know the ending. :)

Thanks, I am enjoying both of these books.

You should still read it. It's only one aspect of the ending, there's a lot more to it then that.

The Mary Russell series is definitely on my radar, Kim. I've got one of the books, just have to get the first so I can get started. Nice to see your positive review.

Good to know! Do you if there any way to delete the post so others don't find out part of the ending?
There are lots of people who intentionally find out the ending of a book before they read it. My daughter reads the last page of the book before starting the book and I have never understood how or why people do that!

Sorry! I did not know how to do that.

I haven't read 50 shades of anything, though I did write a blog post about 50 shades of grey hair

It's not the latest post but me thinks it's pretty funny

Hi Erin and all our members.
The Hide spoiler coding is really very easy, If I can do it so can you - just ask my co-workers how bad I am with high tech stuff.
Anyway to hide a spoiler:
Type the character < (lesser than), then the word spoiler, then the character > greater than. Then you can type as much as you want, a few words, sentences, or paragraphs.
When you are done with the spoiler type the character < (lesser than) then the character / (forward slash) the word spoiler and then the character > (greater than).
(view spoiler)
This works for italics, bold, underline, etc. See the list by clicking on some html is ok on the upper right of the comment box.

I find him to be humble, so I don't understand, either. I adore him. (smile)

Me too, Jeanie. Gamache is definitely one of my literary crushes.

See Donna's post #7691 for the instructions on how to use the spoiler tag on your post #7663. :)

Oh, yes ... I'm a fan. Read all of them, have quite a few of them in my re-read library and go back to the periodically. I've also read most, if not all, of her other books and several of those are personal favorites as well.
