Linda Murray | 8 comments I've just started The Potters Field by Andrea Camillieri. I think this is book 13 of the Inspector Montalbano series.I have enjoyed this series set in Sicily, with it's strong sense of place, foodie details, quirky characters and a touch of humour.
The TV series shown recently in the UK was enjoyable, unlike the Aurelio Zen series shown about a year ago.

Ava Catherine Just finished Gone Girl Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn Gillian Flynn and I really like the book. It has so many twists and turns that I did not see coming (and that is unusual for me). I love the way the author weaves the characters' psychological traits into the plot. This one is a winner.

Of Lee Child, I really liked The Enemy probably the best, although I've liked all of them and haven't read a bad book by him. I'm interested to see what happens when he finally gets back to Virginia after 61 hours-- he managed not to make it back through one additional book so far!

I've read a couple of her books but sometimes she gets a little preachy. But on the whole I've enjoyed them.

The Eagle Catcher is the first in the series so there seems to be a good bit of explaining going on, traditions, history, etc. The mystery is decent, Who killed Harvey and why, and I know nothing about the Arapaho so I'm finding it quite interesting so far.

message 7075: by Cathleen (new)

Cathleen | 38 comments I'm now reading The Ghosts of Belfastby Stuart Neville. It's about an IRA killer,Gerry Fegan, who served a dozen years in prison and is/has been continually haunted by the ghosts of the twelve people he murdered. Whether they are ghosts or just manifestations of his conscience isn't clear--but he's followed, watched, and plagued by them. I had some trepidation about reading this; I wasn't sure if it would be too violent and too difficult a book to read. Obviously, it's violent but the way Neville creates his characters--and the whole network of politics, social hope and unrest, skepticism, and manipulation of those less powerful--has me riveted.

message 7076: by Sarah (new)

Sarah MacPherson | 5 comments I'm reading Belle Ruin by Martha Grimes the third in Martha Grimes' Emma Graham series, and also reading
Scavengers by Steven F. Havill , the first of his series with Estelle as the main character instead of Bill Gastner. I miss Gastner, so it's taking awhile to get into this one. But I love the Grimes' series and this one is not disappointing.

Thank you Donna, I have read and reread Agatha Christie most of my life and was told Sayers was maybe even better but this is my first time with her. when really got me in the beginning of the book was when Harriet was talking about before the war, and I realized she meant the The First World War, that made me think that humans don't change that much at all Aloha

I read a few of Marsh's Roderick Alleyn mysteries and the BBC did a good series of them as well. Very good and along the lines of Christie and Sayers.

Aiesha (bigtexasaj) Well... I've been suckered into reading Fifty Shades of Grey. I really had no intentions of reading it but a friend of mine wanted me to read it with her!! So far, it's ok. Some parts are annoying but I'm not sure what to make of it yet since it's still early in the book. I will surely write a review when I'm done. It'll have to be very good for me to read the other 2 in the trilogy!
