Ha! Lisa I watched part of Glee last night. It's glorious!

Yes, I did end up watching it. I do enjoy it. I have a friend (who is a singer) who's a huge fan.

I usually just watch a couple of shows a week too Chandra. I just love the singing and the humour on Glee though. I can't resist it.

Joy, my mom read an article in PEOPLE or something while she was waiting for a haircut, that said about the same thing on the money - Woah! I'd want to be on the show for free, but that makes it even sweeter, doesn't it!
The article also confirmed (and again, not sure on the accuracy here) that Maks and Erin ARE a couple (that he sees her safely home each night after practice - um, cute!) and that Kate is a total twit to Tony, walking out on him, saying he's only famous 'cause of her, and a very negative energy on set.
Ew. I'm SO bummed she's still in it and cute, adorable Adrian (yes, the actor) went home...

Haha, yes, totally! I really cannot believe she has fans!!! Was she this bad on the John & Kate + 8 show?!?!?! Maybe people just like watching a trainwreck :-< I'm sad the Adrian guy went home--he seemed genuinely nice and was super cute; I'd much rather watch him than her!

Chandra, it's every bit as bad as it looks. Think dancing bear trying to do the rumba. Actually, I'm afraid I just insulted the dancing bear comparing him to Kate.

Joy | 314 comments Just thought I'd recommend a great movie about a dance contest called Strictly Ballroom. It's directed by Baz Luhrmann (Moulin Rouge) and Len Goodman from DWTS has a bit part as one of the judges - what else?! It has a great message about not living your life in fear. It's a comfort movie for me :)

OMG, I adore that movie Joy! Anyone who hasn't seen it and loves dancing must watch it. Fabulous!

Ann, I have a feeling you will love it. It's very funny and very romantic.

message 65: by Ann (new)

Ann | 219 comments Funny and romantic? What could be better? :)

message 66: by Ann (new)

Ann | 219 comments So, I kind of missed the two scores. It helped (I think) to put more separation between the dancers.

That said, I was yet again impressed with Evan and Nicole. I didn't think Erin was as good as last week, but I still think she's doing a good job.
And can Kate go home this week? Please?

message 67: by Joy (new)

Joy | 314 comments So Kate got the hook tonight! She cried and I actually felt a little sorry for her but I'm glad she's out. I never thought I would be rooting for Pamela Anderson though. I don't really care for her either...

I would have maybe felt sorry for her, but the woman has the flattest affect that I've ever seen. She never smiled at a positive comment or seemed to show anything but being annoyed. I never saw her other show so this is my only exposure to her, but yuck.

message 70: by Ann (new)

Ann | 219 comments Yeah, I felt a momentary something (I think it was sympathy) for her, but then I made myself remember how badly she treated Tony (but then, she was all flattery to him when she got eliminated... uh, "right", since in the previous package she'd been dissing his choreography!). Anyway, I suppose I feel sorry for her in the respect that I find it hard to believe she's a happy person, and that is sad. But, it's no excuse to be rude to the people around you.
I, too, was rooting for Pamela, only because I wanted Kate to go home...

message 71: by Ann (new)

Ann | 219 comments I haven't seen the whole show (taped it 'cause of Idol) but I wouldn't be surprised! I noticed someone (Anna?) having issues during an earlier episode...

message 72: by Joy (new)

Joy | 314 comments I didn't see a nipple slip but I thought Kate's dress was really hideous! I wonder if they chose their own outfits. Kate's looked like something her grandma would wear. I'm getting a little tired of Jake. I didn't watch his show so I'm not a fan. I wouldn't be sorry to see him go but that's just me!

message 73: by [deleted user] (new)

Chandra wrote: "I caught a teeny bit on the tv last night. Did I see someone having a wardrobe malfunction??? Was it a fake booby that kept popping out of her dress or something else? Am I the only one who saw ..."

Many many times did her boob fly out there. I heard the judges joking about it a little.

message 74: by Ann (new)

Ann | 219 comments You know what I realized the other night? It didn't look like Kate had really lost any weight... so, makes me think she really didn't exert any energy during rehearsals...

I, too, was glad to see Kate get the boot. You described Kate's reactions or lack of perfectly, Christine--flat.

message 79: by Kathy (new)

Kathy (readr4ever) | 1853 comments Joy wrote: "Who do you think will be the next to go?"

I think bachelor guy Jake is on his way out, which would suit me fine. His 15 minutes of fame and fake smiles is beginning to wear on me.

message 80: by Joy (new)

Joy | 314 comments Joy wrote: "Who do you think will be the next to go?"

I couldn't agree with you more Kathy! I don't watch the Bachelor but I really don't care for him. And the fact that he sorta resembles Tom Cruise doesn't help him!!

message 81: by [deleted user] (new)

I agree, it's time for Jake to go.

message 82: by [deleted user] (new)

Errrr....I like Jake........

message 83: by Ann (new)

Ann | 219 comments Christine wrote: "Errrr....I like Jake........"

Actually, Christine, I like him too (we can cover our heads together ;>)

I thought the show was fine last night. Not stellar, but fine. I was very peeved with the judging (it was totally backwards, IMO!!). The thing that irks me, is that if someone like Evan went home tonight, the judges would sit there and say, "I don't know what's wrong with America, he's one of the best dancers here" and not realize they gave him the lowest scores that were given (I think, 21, yes? Excluding the dance off). I mean, I don't think it was Evan (or Nicole's) best night, but they were certainly still better than Pamela, or Nicey, or Chad (at least, I think). But, ah well... so seldom do I agree with the judges anyway...

message 84: by Joy (new)

Joy | 314 comments I thought Pamela looked good in that brunette wig (which I assume is her natural color!) I think Nicole and Derek and Evan/Anna will be the final 2...

message 85: by Kathryn (last edited Apr 27, 2010 08:42AM) (new)

Kathryn | 375 comments I, too, was extremely annoyed at the judging. Even if Evan's dance was a little to "balletic" and not salsa-y enough, there is no way someone like "85" or Niecy should receive the same scores as Evan!!! I feel like the judges were judging everyone based on their individual abilities rather than against an objective standard. Thus, Chad did better than usual so we'll give him an "8" but Evan wasn't as good as usual so we'll give him a "7" I also did not think Nicole or Erin were as good as they made them out to be but whatever. I kind of think the judging is rigged in some ways based on the audience votes--they know who is popular so they mess around with the judges' scores to create more drama. That said, I still enjoyed a lot of the dances and it was fun to watch. And I agree Pamela looked much better as a brunette!!!

Ditto on both accounts. I thought that was funny seeing Pamela as a "natural brunette" too ;>

I too loved seeing Pam as a brunette.

I've often wondered at the weighting of votes and judges scores. I think in the fine print somewhere on the credits it says the producers have some say in the outcome as well.

That's very interesting. And I wouldn't really be surprised, although it would be disappointing to know our votes don't really count for much. I do think that, even if they don't weight the vote, the producers do have a lot of pull just in the sort of songs they assign. For example, it seems really suspicious how Kate G. just happened to get "Paparazzi" or how Pamela keeps getting Marilyn Monroe and Dolly Parton type roles to play up to her looks. Meanwhile, other contests get lame songs that barely fit their style of dance or don't really speak to a character people can relate to.

I know, sometimes the music is terrible and completely unsuitable for the style of dance. Weird stuff!

Kathy (readr4ever) | 1853 comments Could you believe Jake and his tears? I shouted at the TV, "Hey, Jake, did you forget what show you're on. It's not The Bachelor, so stow the freakin' tears." LOL! Sorry Christine and Ann, I know you like him, but I was glad he's been sent back to his true love, Vienna.

The judging often irritates me, too. I agree that they were too tough on Evan. And, why fuss at Maksim about taking his shirt off. I mean, really, I thought it was quite nice.

Did Jake cry? Oh my. Kathy, I got the biggest giggle out of your post! Especially the bit about Maksim taking off his shirt. I bet it was quite nice. :-)

Ann | 219 comments Kathy wrote: "And, why fuss at Maksim about taking his shirt off. I mean, really, I thought it was quite nice. "

Haha, I know I enjoyed it ;>

I felt sorry for Jake, too, Christine. Personally (and I guess there were only a few of us, haha) I thought he was a better dancer than three of the others there, but... you know what they say about the cookie crumbling.
I really liked both pro dances with Etheridge! I thought the first one (with the four dancers) actually fit the music and had great intensity! And I adore seeing Alec and Edyta dance together! (well, I always enjoy watching Alec ;>) but they dance so well together :)
I was also thrilled to see "Sprots Science" highlight just how incredibly tough and demanding dance is! woo hoo!!!:D I loved comparing Demitry's jump to a basketball player, or Edyta's spins to Armstrong's bike! Too cool!!! ;D

message 95: by Kathy (new)

Kathy (readr4ever) | 1853 comments I've really, really tried to work up some sympathy for Jake and say something nice, but, nah, I can't do it. Maybe he and Kate Gosslin can create a new reality show, Life with Losers (yes, I know that dear Kate already has a show). Oh my, Christine, I am showing quite a dark side, aren't I? Perhaps, I could blame that vixen Vienna for turning Jake into a goofus. OK, I promise not to dis poor Jake anymore. Can't promise about Kate.

Ann, I enjoyed Etheridge and the dances, too. I, also, loved the Spanish guitar guy and would love to buy a CD by him. Can anyone remember his name? I guess I can look it up on the ABC site. And, kudos to the Sports Science bit, too. All in all, a very good show last night.

message 100: by Kathryn (new)

Kathryn | 375 comments I'm Ann's sister ;-) As for the duo, I am not sure if they are technically "Spanish guitar" players--they play Acoustic guitar with lots of Mexican and Spanish influence: Rodrigo y Gabriella. Love them, though!
