Peep (Pop! Pop!) I don't know what Ikr means, but I think it's good.

I didn't expect Finnikin to be so good. I said (in my review) that even I was proud to be Lumateren (or whatever they were). That was one book where I would have loved a sequel. Yep, Finn was flawed but so likable.

lol!I didn't expect it to be that great either... I just picked it up because I was bookless at the time... :)

Lisa (lissarbry) | 16 comments Is Finnikin the first in a series or a stand alone novel? I will have to pick it up, it appears to have lots of good reviews!

message 404: by Peep (Pop! Pop!) (new)

Peep (Pop! Pop!) Lisa it is a stand alone novel as far as I know. And yes, you MUST read it.

message 405: by Lisa (new)

Lisa (lissarbry) | 16 comments Great!! Thanks, Peep!

Peep (Pop! Pop!) No problem, let us know how much you like it. Now I want to reread it. I wonder if there are any other books like that??

Heidi Peep wrote: "Islamq, I second Finnikin of the Rock! I loved that one."

I have that one from the library to read soon :)

message 408: by Rosabelle (new)

Rosabelle Purnama | 23 comments Heidi I wrote: "I just finished I Am the Messenger by Markus Zusakand highly recommend the audiobook version of this book. I loved the narrator :)"

Loved this book...

Peep is right... you MUST read it.... :)

message 410: by Milly (new)

Milly (bookfiend_milly) I highly recommend Finnikin of the Rock especially if you enjoy books such as Graceling.

message 411: by Isamlq (new)

Isamlq | 177 comments Also try Alibrandi.. :)

message 412: by Peep (Pop! Pop!) (new)

Peep (Pop! Pop!) MILLY: Yep! Oh, but Finnikin is tons better than Graceling, totally blows it out of the water (admittedly though, they aren't similar).

ROSABELLE: Now I think I have to give that book another try. Never finished it the first time around

HEIDI I: Hop to it!

message 413: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Peep I plan to start it tonight. Soon enough for you?

message 414: by Peep (Pop! Pop!) (new)

Peep (Pop! Pop!) Hows about after I finish this post?

message 415: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Peep wrote: "Hows about after I finish this post?"

Oh geez. There is just no pleasing you is there? Well now I'm off to talk to my counselor about why I never feel good enough. *sigh*

message 416: by Peep (Pop! Pop!) (new)

Peep (Pop! Pop!) You've seen that commercial where the ex-drill sergeant is a therapist? *Throws tissue at Heidi*

message 417: by Helene (new)

Helene I highly recommend Divine by Mistake - could not stop reading, and I love the main character Shannon :)

message 418: by Heidi (new)

Heidi I second (or third) the recommendation for Finnikin of the Rock by Melina Marchetta .

message 419: by Peep (Pop! Pop!) (new)

Peep (Pop! Pop!) I knew you'd like it!! Have you read On the Jellicoe Road yet?

message 420: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Peep wrote: "I knew you'd like it!! Have you read On the Jellicoe Road yet?"

No. I am afraid to.

message 421: by Peep (Pop! Pop!) (new)

Peep (Pop! Pop!) Heidi, I recommend it. It took me a long time to understand what was going on, but I still kept reading. Then I couldn't put it down. I loved it. It was just so good. Seriously, you should read it and don't give up on it! It was so sad and so good at the same time.

Peep (Pop! Pop!) Isamlq wrote: "Also try Alibrandi.. :)"

I requested it from my Library.

message 423: by Courtney (new)

Courtney | 1 comments Really recommend Solid by Shelley Workinger. It's a light and fast read, but I still got invested in the characters. And after reading this, I guess I have to try the Fever series!

message 424: by Heather (new)

Heather McCorkle (heathermccorkle) I just finished Shadow Hills by Anastasia Hopcus and definitely recommend it. It was a pretty original paranormal concept for YA and Anastasia pulled it off really well.

message 425: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) I have Shadow Hills, I just haven't read it yet. I'm glad to hear that you enjoyed it.

message 426: by Heather (new)

Heather McCorkle (heathermccorkle) Let me know what you think when you finish it Wendy!

message 427: by Heidi (new)

Heidi I just finished Last Days of Summer by Steve Kluger and recommend it. Be warned it is not actually a YA book so it does have cussing (a lot) and some sexual references.

message 428: by Roshini (new)

Roshini If you haven't read it, I would recommend Book of a Thousand Days by Shannon Hale

message 429: by Becca (new)

Becca | 1608 comments Roshini wrote: "If you haven't read it, I would recommend Book of a Thousand Days by Shannon Hale"

I absolutely love that book! In fact, I think I'll re-read it soon.

message 430: by Heidi (new)

Heidi I liked it as well :)

message 431: by Roshini (new)

Roshini How's Princess Academy? Has anyone read that? I just got it but haven't started.

message 432: by Peep (Pop! Pop!) (new)

Peep (Pop! Pop!) Roshini I thought Princess Academy was okay, it wasn't a favorite for me. I gave it three stars. The Goose Girl was definitely my favorite of her books.

message 433: by Becca (new)

Becca | 1608 comments I really really liked Princess Academy. It was a phenomenal story and the characters were really neat. I love that it is a stand-alone novel too.

message 434: by Arphaxad (new)

Arphaxad | 335 comments I loved The Goose Girl too; Princess Academy was indeed 'alright' in comparison. Speaking of the former, I always associate it mentally with The Seer and the Sword by Victoria Hanley. Both books are awesome in a similar way. Maybe I'll re-read..again :)

message 435: by Roshini (new)

Roshini Thanks! I might read it next. Right now moved on to Rich and Mad by William Nicholson

message 436: by April (new)

April (cruelestmonth) | 9 comments I recently read I Am Not A Serial Killer (John Cleaver, #1) by Dan Wells .

Technically it's an adult book because it ends up in adult fiction, it's about a fifteen year-old who is very much like Jeff Lindsay's Dexter. The whole plot was very strange. Over all, it was absolutely brilliant, touching, dark, funny, and clever.

I LOVE Jeff Lindsey, I will have to pick this one up.

message 438: by Kourtni (new)

Kourtni (kourkyloo) | 602 comments I just finished The Shadowing (Powerless, #2) by Jason Letts today and I recommend it. It took a bit for me to get into it but when it picked up, man did it pick up!! I couldn't put it down, I read it all through the work day.

message 439: by Emmy (new)

Emmy I am number four was AMAZING and that is coming from someone who is not a big alien person :)
