I just read, and I recommend....

On a side note, my hubby asked me last night if I would be ok if he watched baseball(Go Cubs if he is around - Go Twins for me :) Anyhoo, I was all like "Oh...ok", but I was thinking "Sweet, now I can read all night!". I cranked out 250 pages of the monster book known as The Hunger. Yeah for me!

I think they said to read Poison Study before you read Graceling (they are kind of similar), because Graceling is a better book. I loved them both, though.

I didn't think they were really similar. I thought they were both pretty distinct stories from each other. They are similar in some ways, but very very different in the majority of the stories.

Graceling is excellent, especially on audio. I have Fire on hold for me (audiobook) at the library. Hope I like it as much as Graceling. It seems that people liked one or the other more, not equally.

I just finished Prophecy of the Sisters by Michelle Zink and I loved it! I couldn't put it down!!

By similar I meant that both are fantasy books with strong female characters. In one book the main character is an assasin, in the other, the main character is the king's food taster, but both are forced to kill people, whether in self-defense or to protect other people. Both also take place in other worlds that resemble medieval times w/ a magical twist.

I HIGHLY Recommend this book, very different from my normal genre of mysteries and forensics, and I give it high marks : 0 Plus we get a strong female character

You were right on the mark on The Book Thief, so I am going to order this one from the library on audio as well!

Absolutely! I am not sure if I could've read it since I usually do not care for war related topics. But with 'death' narrating, it made it very interesting.

I just finished Nobody's Princess. It was cute and interesting to see Helen in this light, so I would recommend it to someone looking for a light-hearted fast read. I'm going to read the next one, Nobody's Prize, but I hope it's a little less juvenile and faster-paced.

just finished Will Grayson, Will Grayson. I liked it a lot. It took a bit to get used to the writing style but once I did it was great.

I haven't read the last one yet (The Last Olympian), but I look forward to getting it from the library when it finally comes available. I enjoyed the series too so far. They've been very quick reads that are completely enjoyable.

Graceling! Read it next, then you'll add Fire to your seconds list. I liked it just as much as Graceling, but be prepared for a totally different female protagonist.

I just listened to and totally recommend it. John Keating was the reader, and he was awesome! I enjoyed him just as much as the guy who read HP.

Correct - totally different characters...

It may even be considered a "Prequel" to Graceling, but they are two completely different stories. I would recommend Graceling first simply because if you read Fire first you'll know the background of one of the characters in Graceling that is supposed to be sort of a surprise.

I just read Hush, Hush but do not recommend it. I was disappointed and expected so much more. I was constatntly waiting for something to happen...the chemistry between the main characters just did not work for me. oh well. Starting Fallen tonight. Hope it is better :-)

I just finished . All I can say is what an incredible book and beautiful story. I usually don't read the books with deep meaning and powerful messages. Maybe I should do it more often. I highly recommend that anyone who hasn't read this book do so as soon as possible.

Whoever is listening to Golden Compass as an audiobook, it's a GREAT audio. That was my first try with audio, and I couldn't have been happier with the experience. I recommended it to someone who didn't understand why I was so upset with the movie version, and he liked it too. If you like that one, there are two more in the trilogy, The Subtle Knife and The Amber Spyglass.

I requested Gone from the library, and then realized how many pages it was and sent it back because I didn't have enough time to handle that many. Is it really worth checking out?

Haddix has a new series out called the Missing, with Found being the first book and Sent being the second.

I feel in love with Fabelhaven and Graceling, and now have the sequels in my very large TBR pile. I have the whole day off work tomorrow, and will hopefully be able to whittle it down some. oh yeah, and then I have the remaining three Percy Jackson's to read.

I've heard good things about the Ranger's Apprentice series, so hopefully will get to that by the end of the year.

And Bluemoon, you spend entirely too much time on Goodreads. How can you be in soo many groups and contribute so much?!
