Terry (Ter05 TwiMoms/ MundieMoms) (ter05) | 374 comments My last two books were both sequels - Linger (sequel to Shiver) and The Iron Daughter (Sequel to The Iron King). Both were great reads. I totally loved shiver and Linger was even better, if possible. The writing is amazing to me. I loved The Iron King maybe a little bit more than The Iron Daughter although by the end I was totally happy with it.

Chelle So new here, and I haven't read through all 8 pages because I have The Winter King by Bernard Cornwell just sitting on the table whispering "read me, read me" but I did want to recommend a few I just finished.

I saw a number of people liked A Great and Terrible Beauty by Libba Bray. I read and liked it, didn't as much like Rebel Angels but my first Bray book was Going Bovine. Loved it. Funny, darkly so at times and who doesn't love a talking garden gnome that says he's the Norse god Balder cursed to live as a gnome forever. Loved it.

I just also read Will Grayson, Will Grayson by david leviathan and john green on the enthusiastic recommendation of a friend. I LOVED it. Highly recommend.

Caitlings | 23 comments I just read and would recommend Clockwork Angel I really enjoyed her first series but could understand the critism the writing style got. I feel her writing has grown up quite a bit in this book and I loved the setting and time period.

Terry (Ter05 TwiMoms/ MundieMoms) (ter05) | 374 comments No criticism here on her writing style in the first three!

Rebecca | 97 comments I just read The Study series and I really enjoyed all the books. The first was my favorite though.

And I would like to second The Summoning (Darkest Powers, #1) by Kelley ArmstrongGraceling (The Seven Kingdoms Trilogy, #1) by Kristin Cashore and it's sequel. As well as, the Mortal Instruments series City of Bones. And, I LOVED, Finnikin of the Rock which, I think will make it's name, in the YA world, this year.

Alyssa (shyluck13) | 124 comments I was just about to add Graceling!!!! I've just gotten into and am loving it! I also recommend absolutely ANYTHING by Kelley Armstrong, anything by Richelle Mead, and anything by LJ Smith, even though her Vampire Diaries are kinda old. And weird. Sarah Dessen is great too.

A Few Other series:
Hush, Hush
The Luxe
Uglies
Need
Evernight
Evermore

I highly recommend reading everything and anything written by Melina Marchetta. She creates the most amazing characters and is not afraid to make them REAL and have them go through REAL stuff. I worship Melina Marchetta. On the Jellicoe Road is one of, if not the, best YA contemporary book I've ever read. Ever. And...and...she's just amazing!

I am curious to know if anyone that loves Mortal Instruments is NOT also a fan of the Twlight series. It seems to me that fans of Twlight have switched over to Mortal Instruments.

Peep (Pop! Pop!) Did this work? Did this work?

I think I got it. Do you upload your own pics or use the goodreads ones? I like the auto book link that they have but my the tiny pics wreak havoc on the eyes!

message 384: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Don't give Peep this info Pam! Now we are in for it!

message 385: by Peep (Pop! Pop!) (new)

Peep (Pop! Pop!) You know you like the big pictures. I swear the GR default is tiny compared to these. I'm trying to figure out a way to change the size with the GR link.

Evelina C (evelinaguekguezian) | 18 comments I just finished THE STRANGELY BEAUTIFUL TALE OF MISS PERCY PARKER by Leanna Renee Hieber. The Strangely Beautiful Tale of Miss Percy Parker (Strangely Beautiful, #1) by Leanna Renee Hieber This genre-buster includes elements of fantasy, mythology, history and romance with a strong and loveable female lead. Book 1 of more to come. Not a YA selection per se, but teens will enjoy it nonetheless.

message 391: by Adrian (new)

Adrian | 15 comments I just read and I recommend Are You in the House Alone? by Richard Peck.

message 392: by Heidi (new)

Heidi This isn't a "YA" book, but I just read The Girl Who Chased the Moon A Novel by Sarah Addison Allen and I thought it was a really sweet story. It is not earth shattering, but worth a read if you want something light and fun to read. I highly recommend the audiobook version :)
