Escape | 3 comments I loved the Colleen Gleason series and found out that she was writing under Joss Ware so I got her last book today Abandon the Night at Borders with my 30% Off cpn. This weekend I hit the flea market and got 7 books for only $13. I totally get the sneaking books into the house. My husband always says when I walk in the door late. So where were you the library or the book store? Fudge muffin! He caught me again. LOL

Looks like it is free on Amazon for the Kindle: http://www.amazon.com/Regina-Sun-Chil...

Even if you don't have a Kindle, you can read it if you have the Kindle App (free download) on your PC, Mac, iPad, blakcberry, or iPhone. I am not sure if other vendors have this as well.

I have to stay off Amazon too. If I get an ereader I am going to be so much worse:) Have to control what I buy, there is only so much time in the day to read after all!!!!

Regina (reginar) Jen wrote: I have to stay off Amazon too. If I get an ereader I am going to be so much worse:) Have to control what I buy, there is only so much time in the day to read after all!!!! "

Isn't that the truth. :) Having an ereader does make it easier to buy and carry them around. My husband doesn't see the packages coming from Amazon anymore -- so he can't question me on all my purchases. :) He doesn't see the books on the shelves growing. :) And thankfully he doesn't see that credit card bill, lol. :) So I have no-one questioning or wondering what the heck I am doing!! But really, most of those purchases were because Penguin books may be going up in price on Amazon, and I knew I would read them down the road, so I wanted to get them at a good price. I talked myself out of buying the sequels. :)

I got loads of first in a series there! I had offers too, on the first in a series they were 3 for 2 (all but one of them are) However, that probably means I'll end up having to get all the rest of each series too - got a feeling that might be a lot of books :)

message 78: by Literary Ames (new)

Literary Ames (amyorames) | 276 comments Perhaps Jen, is that why you're interested in an ereader? Have you bought one yet? I went to the Sony store the other day to have a play with the ones on display, I'm still unsure which one I want to get.

Did you get your 3 for 2's at Waterstones? BTW Amazon UK have a huge sale on at the moment, most books are under fiver each and I'm getting ready for another big order. Some of the Kresley Cole Immortals After Dark books are under £4! I'm still making my list.

Waterstones are selling Rachel Caine's Morganville Vampires series for £3.50 each! I'm comparing prices everywhere. I'm an addict, I need an ereader too.

Oh no!! I'm going to have to go have a look on Amazon now too......

I got the Morganville Vampires books 2,3 and 4 for £5 for all of them at a book discount shop! Pleased as I've read the first and enjoyed it.

That would be great. It will probably be next weekend at least before I get round to reading this (it's #3 on my to read next list!). Look foward to chatting with you about the book - I know you love it from your other posts!

Literary Ames (amyorames) | 276 comments Regina wrote: "Amy I am reading Carmilla right now. I would love to hear what you think!"

Carmilla is a pre-Dracula vampire tale and I could definitely see where Bram Stoker got some of his ideas. The length was nice, it's fairly short and concise - something you don't always see with classics.

I was surprised but happy that the main characters are female, and at some of the lesbian vibes I was getting from Carmilla, which Laura found uncomfortable but was unable to resist her. (They had a mutual fascination with each other.) I'd say this was pretty daring for the time period.

I quite liked it. Laura wasn't delicate, she didn't crumble at the first sign of trouble. To sum it up in four words I'd say it's about coincidence, mystery, truth and deception. We certainly don't trust others like they did back then!
