I know the Carpathians don't appeal to everyone, but there is something about that series that keeps me addicted. I am in Carpathian withdrawal, as a matter of fact.

I think I tried listening to one a long time ago but got lost in it so I gave up. That was a while ago though. I like this one so far, though I have no idea what could possibly happen (haven't read the description so I don't know what to expect).

I bet it would be really weird on audio. After a while, you get an idea of the world, and it's cool to see how she has each couple's courtship go slightly different.

The latter books are muuuuuuch better than the first books. I was really turned off by the first few, but I kept going and now I'm addicted!

Katie, Garden Spells is one of my favorites!!

message 3655: by Peep (Pop! Pop!) (last edited Jun 14, 2011 02:05PM) (new)

Peep (Pop! Pop!) | 49 comments That's good to know, because I'm running out of series (good ones). I have high standards when it comes to books. Somewhat :P I think at least one of the audiobooks from the series won an award.

@Katie I read her Moon book and liked that one! Garden Spells is on my tbr pile.

The later Carpathian audiobooks are extremely wonderful!! They have both a male and a female narrator, which I so enjoyed, especially for a romance novel. They do fantastic accents, too.

Valerie ~ Val Hall ~ | 152 comments I'm currently reading Among Thieves: A Tale of the Kin by Douglas Hulick and it is a pure delight! It's fantasy but read a bit like Mark del Franco. The world-building is fascinating and the hero...what a scoundrel.

I read Dragon Bound (Elder Races, #1) by Thea Harrison this week, and Dragos is the poster child for the dangerous hero. Great book!

Also just finished On the Edge (The Edge, #1) by Ilona Andrews , and Declan's pretty darn dangerous himself.

message 3666: by La La (new)

La La | 132 comments I just finsihed reading Eternal Hearts (A Darkness Within, #2) by Jennifer Turner and was very dissapointed. Sigh....so sad since I'd been waitng for this book for so long. Now I'm reading Deadly Lies (Deadly #3) by Cynthia Eden , which is good so far.

It's a very captivating series, Laura. Eternal Rider is the start of her new series, so you can read that one if you get sad for more.

Laura, I love the Demonica series too. The world she built is facinating and the lead males are to die for. I've said it before, the whole series is so hot it should be illegal.

The new series is set in the same world and there are favorites pop up.here and there. 5 stars!!!!!

message 3671: by Athena (new)

Athena (athytee) I've just started the 7th book in Nalini Singh's Psy-Changeling series, Mine to Possess. I'm trying to power read through these next few because I can't wait to read Hawke's story in Kiss of Snow!

Prior to that, I finished up KMM's Shadowfever... *freak out* SO GOOD!

message 3672: by Nakia (last edited Jun 22, 2011 08:23AM) (new)

Nakia (nakiak) I just started The Perfect Play last night. Wowza is all I've got to say so far. I think I'm in love with Mick.

The next on my list is Storm Kissed - I've been putting it off for a couple of weeks now.

Those descriptions are wonderful.. how's the story progression (that is a big kicker for me in contemporary romance these days...)

Seriously, if you're a fan of romantic suspense and you haven't read Kaylea Cross, you're missing out! Soooooooo good! Don't read them out of order though.

La La | 132 comments I just finished reading The Fallen Raziel (The Fallen, #1) by Kristina Douglas , which I really enjoyed. Anne Stuart can really write some good but bad hero's, let me tell you. I need an angel like that in my life. Now I'm reading Notorious Pleasures (Maiden Lane, #2) by Elizabeth Hoyt . So far it's really good.

I loved Raziel, LaLa, but I'm a die hard AS fan, so it's no surprise.

I finished Mind Games (The Disillusionists Trilogy, #1) by Carolyn Crane , and I have a character in this book that makes me drool big time.

Now I'm reading A Texas Christmas by Jodi Thomas . The Jodi Thomas story is great as usual thus far.

Megan, I hope to read the Kaylea Cross books. They sound good.

Good readin' Melanie!!

You guys will love Kaylea Cross....her books are so intense, I was literally on the edge of my seat. The fourth is my favorite, but the others are superb, too!

I'm working on A Clash of Kings (A Song of Ice and Fire, #2) by George R.R. Martin ......trying to take this one slowly.

Suzanne (Under the Covers Book blog) | 474 comments I am going through the Psy CHangeling series at the moment for the first time! I can't believe I waited so long to read it, I love these books, am on: Branded by Fire (Psy-Changeling, #6) by Nalini Singh which has the most awful cover but is my fave so far!

Valerie ~ Val Hall ~ | 152 comments LOL,it's one of those times that you can't judge a book by it's cover.

Suzanne (Under the Covers Book blog) | 474 comments Def not! I have just finished it and loved it! But the cover makes me laugh, but I do love a good cheesy cover, I don't always like the slicker looking new ones!

Suzanne (Under the Covers Book blog) | 474 comments I don't like those! I had a few of them, but swapped them for the old ones. They look a lot like the Lynsay Sands covers for her Arganeau series.

message 3687: by La La (new)

La La | 132 comments I finished reading Notorious Pleasures (Maiden Lane, #2) by Elizabeth Hoyt , which was good....I can't wait till book three comes out. Now I'm reading After Dark with a Scoundrel (Lords of Vice, #3) by Alexandra Hawkins . I usually don't do back to back historical, but I couldn't think of what to read next. Oh yeah, I'm also trying to read One Reckless Summer (Destiny, #1) by Toni Blake at work.

Laura Carson (laurarcarson) | 40 comments wrapping up Covet (The Fallen Angels, #1) by J.R. Ward
moving on to finish Eternal Rider (Lords of Deliverance, #1) by Larissa Ione
Then thinking about starting Riding the Storm (ACRO, #1) by Sydney Croft OR Magic Bites (Kate Daniels, #1) by Ilona Andrews Really leaning towards RTS at the moment though. I really want to be ready to start the KD series because I hear it is really good and I want to enjoy it and be in the mood for it.

I'm listening to the Stephen Fry version of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (Harry Potter, #7) by J.K. Rowling to get myself all psyched up for the final movie!

Fry is a genius with the voices in this series.

message 3696: by Darcy (new)

Darcy (sunnytat462) | 704 comments @ Megan - I am really liking it so far, and will be checking out the others for sure.

I listened recently to the whole Harry Potter on audio and the narrator did a fantastic job! They were so fun to listen to.

I have not been able to find the Stephen Fry audios....I have the ones that were narrated by Jim Dale...they were really good but I would love to hear the Stephen Fry narrations....

I've listened to them both Nichole, and it is worth it to try and find the Stephen Fry version. I thought Jim Dale was good, but some of his voices annoyed me, especially Hermione and Neville.

La La | 132 comments I just finished reading After Dark with a Scoundrel (Lords of Vice, #3) by Alexandra Hawkins . It was good but for some reason I feel like there always something missing from Alexandra Hawkins books. I find her characters to be kind of forgettable. Now I'm reading a novella Rules of Darkness by Tia Fanning . So far it's good. I read another book by her about a year ago that I really enjoyed so I figured I'd give this a try.
