Carrie (Care) (care76) | 1746 comments I had never heard of Trader Joe's so I googled it. It looks like a place I would love to shop at, but there aren't any here.

Hey everyone, I'm Larissa. I'm 16 and from Australia. I like reading paranormal, fantasy romance books. I love the mortal instruments series. :)

Jen Ahhh... you guys are making me hungry! lol I Love everything burgers. (except onion)

We don't have a 5 guys or an In & Out here. We have a Steak & Shake which makes yummy burgers & Chili's. Mmmm

message 208: by Jasmine (new)

Jasmine (jadorejas94) | 950 comments I LOVE STEAK AND SHAKE! ahaha. Where I am there are only 5 Guys, but visit Georgia a lot, because a lot of my family is there, and last time I went we ate at Steak & Shake. It was really good! My favorite place, that I can only eat in Georgia, is Chick-fil-a. :) I really wish they'd open one up here, in NY.

message 209: by Jen (new)

Jen Ooh... Chick-fil-a is really good too! I also love Sonic! I had Subway today for lunch & it just didn't cut it, thinking about burgers! lol

message 210: by Jasmine (new)

Jasmine (jadorejas94) | 950 comments I never had Sonic! I hate how there are sooo many Sonic and Dairy Queen commercials on TV and then the closest one is in New Jersey or Conneticut I think. =/

I love the veggie patties from Subway, but when I'm in the mood for burgers then it definitely doesn't taste that yummy!

I like Pita Pit and it just closed here. I was so mad. It's like subway, but you get to eat something other than bread.

message 212: by Isamlq (new)

Isamlq Thanks to Stacia for pointing me to this group... *excited*

Isa here... love reading (anything/everything).
Only recently have I been sucked into the worlds of YA-PNR, YA Fantasy and UF.

Favorite reads this quarter: Morganville and Fire.
Favorite fantasy read of all time: Belgariad by David Eddings <3
Love, love, love: Vamp Academy. House of Night. Beautiful Creatures (who else likes the male protag?)

Looking forward to Awakened, Last Sacrifice, Beautiful Darkness and Crescendo

Side note (not YA at all nor UF nor PNR): I love Tyler Durden from Fight Club (Chuck Palahniuk)

Vivian (_vivian) Haha, we're still talking about food.

On that note, how did I know I was spending too much time on Goodreads? I went to the grocery store last week and bought bacon. I've NEVER done that before that I can remember but you guys made it sound all yummy.

Heather T (horrorvacui000) | 5931 comments Mod
Haha. Sorry. I managed to go to the supermarket without getting Swiss Cake Rolls! I normally send my husband because I end up in the junk food. Well, I either go really healthy, or everything junky. My husband kind of goes half and half.

message 217: by Vivian (new)

Vivian (_vivian) Not a big deal, just weird. I imagine it's like a pregnancy craving, like whoa, I can't believe I want bacon, lol.

My all time favourite series is The Wheel of Time by Robert Jordan (and finished off by Brandon Sanderson). It's epic fantasy and it has been my favourite for 14 years. Urban Fantasy fav is Night Huntress with Kate Daniels second. YA Fantasy, I have no idea, I love so many (Vampire Academy, Beautiful Creatures, Hush, Hush, The Maze Runner, The Hunger Games...). YA fiction favs are Perfect Chemistry, Leaving Paradise and Return to Paradise, and Forget You. Favourite Children's series is Harry Potter.

I love so many books it's hard to pick. :D

Lolz!
And I thought I was a reader...
I have Wheels of Time, started it but never finished it. Ive read most of the YA fiction you suggested, but haven't read Night Huntress. What is it about?

Umm... lets just say Night Huntress is about a kick butt female and a guy you'll drool over and no mortal man will ever compare too. It's a must read.

I'm trying to be vague intentionally. It's consistently a 4-5 star series across the board for almost everyone. It's a little racy at times because it's PNR, but there's a lot of action as well.

message 224: by Carrie (Care) (new)

Carrie (Care) (care76) | 1746 comments Isa, I don't even read nearly as much as Heather and Darcy. I go through spurts where I read a book or two a day, then a book or two a week. Depends on the kids and how busy work is.

The Night Huntress series rocks! :D Read the first one when you are finished DP and if you like it then you'll love the rest. ;)

message 225: by Jasmine (new)

Jasmine (jadorejas94) | 950 comments I love the Darkest Powers series. :) I still have to read The Reckoning, and I'm really looking forward to it.

Jasmine (jadorejas94) | 950 comments ahaha I'd just skip to the NH book and renew the others. :D

message 227: by Vivian (new)

Vivian (_vivian) Night Huntress series rocks! Skip the others, totally worth it :) I always get way too many books from the library and end up returning some unread, I've accepted it as a part of life. Just don't read as much or as quickly as I used to.

message 229: by Angela (new)

Angela B Dark Powers is a good series and I read the 1st 2 fast so it shouldn't take toooo long to read it, it's not a series I would skip. I still have to read the 3rd one though

Aubrey | 1 comments Just joined this group not too long ago so I'm dropping in to say hi. So...Hi :) I'm a big fan of all sorts of fantasy, urban fantasy, some PR, among others. I actually just picked up the first in the Night Huntress series based on some friends' recommendations and from the looks of some of the posts here it wasn't a mistake! I look forward to chatting with you all.

Shera (Book Whispers) (sherabookwhispers) | 2445 comments Howdy everyone! Of course I'm Shera, I've just left the last of my teen years behind me. I absolutely love reading Urban Fantasy and Epic Fantasy. Lately I've been reading some PNR, but I always go running back to UF.

I'm really looking forward to reading Firelight with all of you!

Carrie (Care) (care76) | 1746 comments Welcome Shera! What are your favourite epic fantasy series/books?

Shera (Book Whispers) (sherabookwhispers) | 2445 comments Ooooo! Picking favorites is always so hard, I'll try to keep it small. I'd have to say The Tale of Lanen Kaelar series and The Witches of Eileanan (or anything by Kate Forsyth)are some of my old favs. Some of my current/on going favs are Maria V. Snyder and I just found out about Through Wolf's Eyes which is really fun.

A really cool one I stumbled on in the book store last week is Lord of the Changing Winds. About a griffen mage, I am so excited to read that one. Griffens are rare in fantasy.

Song in the Silence (The Tale of Lanen Kaelar) by Elizabeth Kerner The Witches of Eileanan (The Witches of Eileanan, #1) by Kate Forsyth Poison Study (Study, #1) by Maria V. Snyder Through Wolf's Eyes (Firekeeper Saga, #1) by Jane Lindskold Lord of the Changing Winds (Griffin Mage, #1) by Rachel Neumeier

message 244: by Carrie (Care) (new)

Carrie (Care) (care76) | 1746 comments Great, I just added some to my tbr list! I love YA and UF, but I feel a need to read more epic stuff lately. I just heard of a really interesting series Kushiel's Dart (Kushiel's Legacy, #1) by Jacqueline Carey , so I plan on reading it and Brandon Sanderson's new book The Way of Kings (Stormlight Archive, #1) by Brandon Sanderson . And of course (as everybody else in this group already knows since I don't shut up about it) the new Wheel of Time book next month.

Shera (Book Whispers) (sherabookwhispers) | 2445 comments Wow. I forgot the Wheel of time book is coming out. It's been soooo long since I've read anything in the series that I need a reread. That's just to much work right now.

I recently purchased Kushiel's Dart, after many recommendations. Can't wait to see if you like it.

Sanderson is one I'm going to have to look into, I haven't heard of him.

Yeah, I haven't been reading much epic fantasy lately so I'm way behind.

Shera (Book Whispers) (sherabookwhispers) | 2445 comments Just looked up Sanderson! Boy, I feel stupid! I bought his boxset a while back for the Mistborn trilogy. Too many books, not enough memory

message 247: by Carrie (Care) (new)

Carrie (Care) (care76) | 1746 comments I don't own Kushiel's Dart yet. I hope to get to it early next year. I want to read the Tairen Soul series first.

I liked the Mistborn series. It was a 3-4 star read for me. I really liked his Warbreaker by Brandon Sanderson though. It has a beautiful cover as well.

message 248: by [deleted user] (new)

Thanks, but PLEASE do not invite another Fatima, that will make THIS Fatima sad. ;P

Shera (Book Whispers) (sherabookwhispers) | 2445 comments Ooo, that is a pretty cover! I've never heard of this before, definitely the book I should have bought from him!!

Is this the one in the Tairen series, Lord of the Fading Lands (Tairen Soul, #1) by C.L. Wilson ? If so thanks for the recomendation!! It sounds so awesome, and the reviews are glowing!

message 250: by Carrie (Care) (new)

Carrie (Care) (care76) | 1746 comments We won't Fatima!

Shera, some parts with Vivian (I can't remember if that's her name or not) were kind of boring, but I loved the Story of The God King and his bride so much it didn't matter.

Yes, that's the first book in the Tairen Soul series. I have yet to read it, but it has been very highly recommended so I plan to get to it after the next WoT book. I have it in my a-z challenge.
