Captive/Kidnap Theme

What are some good books with this theme.
Again, no judgments! It's just fiction. Not real life.

I like this theme because the captive is more at the mercy of the captor. There's just something I enjoy about that. The vulnerability, the Alpha Male at his finest.

But then, I'm ok with some not too kinky bondage stuff, too. *blushes and hides head in shame*

Also the humor that can come from this is really something.

I love it too..i like the vulnerability factor as well..but it forces them to be together constantly. YOu know there won't be much time spent apart.. in regards to this theme, I also love it when the heroine escapes...only to be brought back again.

I think part of it is the tension that's generated when the reader is not sure whether or not the hero is a danger or not, and the fact she's in his power is very compelling. Here are some really good ones with this theme:



They are, from left to right, romantic suspense, historical romance, paranormal historical romance, and paranormal romance. They are all definitely captive/kidnap.

Another one is On a Highland Shore. The captive scene is towards the end and involves many women taken at once.

I like the edge of danger in my romance. The unpredictability factor, as NU said. It takes me out of my mundane life and into an exciting world. There is an edge of untamed passion there, with this storyline. I love that intense, fiery, edge of your seat feeling with that kind of romance. Probably why I like the stalkerific heroes too.

I remembered a couple of highlander ones:

The Witch and the Warrior by Karyn Monk. The hero kidnaps the heroine who is reported to be a witch, in order to cure his dying son and claims he'll kill her if she fails.

Laird of the Mist by Paula Quinn. Hero kidnaps the heroine who is his arch-enemy's niece.

I'm sure there are many medieval ones with this theme, but my mind is stuck right now.

Lol, I feel so at home here. :D I would normally be embarrassed to admit this as well, but I love the kidnap/captive/bondage theme too. The only problem is that when I'm reading it, I want to actually BE the heroine in distress, which can get a bit frustrating. Does anyone else feel this way too, or am I just weird?!?

I haven't had time to go through every thread yet, but I haven't seen this mentioned... has anyone read The Story of O? It might be a little intense for some, but I rather enjoyed it. :)

***Spoiler***In On a Highland Shore, the Scottish Highland shores were being attacked by a ruthless Norseman/Viking, Nor Thorkelson. He had launched attack after attack reducing the numbers of Highlanders. One night, while many of the Highlander men were away, he went ashore with his men and took as many women as he could hostage from this village/town/castle. He got quite a few actually, and the older ones he and his men raped and slaughtered. Anyway, so he took dozens (if I recall right) of women to his 'lair' where the hero, who had devised a brilliant plan, went and rescued them.***END SPOILERS***
