They're fun. Still cheesy, but generally better than the more recent HoN's. They're all very similar though since her tone is so unique to her.

Oh, I bet anything P.C. Cast is going to be extremely cheesy. That is part of the appeal. HoN second to last one I really liked because of the beauty and the beast romance. Haven't read the most recent one yet, I'm starting to get nervous.
I finished reading The Lost Hero and started reading Magic Slays. I preordered a bunch of books in two orders from amazon about 6 months ago and they all came on the same day.
I finished reading Dark and Stormy Knights and liked many of the stories. I finished listening to Skulduggery Pleasant which was an easy and entertaining listen.
I've recently read:
both were easy reads and pretty funny as well. The only issues I had were the inner thoughts of the main character that tended to run on for pages, which overwhelmed the actual action in the story.
I didn't expect this to be appeal to me, but was pleasantly surprised. The story was fun and kept my interest.
Wow, Loved them both. Excellent story and interesting characters!
I just finished
and I really liked it! Whenever I find a really great indy book I feel like I have hit the jackpot.
I just finished a re-read of Where the Red Fern Grows. It was even better then I remember it being when I read it in the 4th grade!
I know what you mean Jessica, I listened to the audio of that one last year. It was one of my favorite books when I was a kid.
It makes me want to re-read more books from my childhood! Like Tuck Everlasting and To Kill a Mockingbird. :)
I hated WRFG, but it had nothing to do with the book itself. I was in Wales on vacation in the middle of the school year and I had to read the book and right PAGES of info on every chapter as my homework. Of course, with family members and touristy things I never had time to get very far into the project so I ended up trying to frantically read it on the plane ride back. It was the black shadow hanging over my trip. Luckily, the book itself is pretty good. If it had been Bridge to Terabithia or something I wouldn't survived the trip.
I love bridge to terabitha! The other day, my mom told my i should have read it in eighth grade, but i read it when i was 7 or 8. :)
Gee.. I got lucky because I didn't read it in 5th grade. I was in a 5th/6th combined class and the 5th graders read it the year I was in 6th. I can't remember what we read though. WRFG was 4th?
It's going to bother me until I can figure out what the big book was in 6th grade. Grrr.

WtRFG was 5th grade for me. 6th might have been Hatchet or My Side of the Mountain, but that was 20 years ago and my memory jumbles that stuff up.
Those sound familiar, but i don't know if I read them, or if they're just popular enough that i remember them that way.

They are one of my favorite series.

I've bought them all so far and I really need to read them!
I just finished
. I've gotta say, children's books were not this awesome when I was little! Or was I just unaware?
Such a fun book. The female lead was strong and snarky, there was no pining or mooning, and the cocky guy gets kicked to the curb in favor of the nice guy. Plus, there's a were-unicorn which is just epic. Not the usual vamp read by a long shot.
Well. You had me a were-unicorn. Off to see if this epic book of awesomeness is in my library. Fingers crossed.
It's not out yet. I got it off Simon and Schuster's galley grab. I think you can search the net to find out how to get an invite code or something...not sure. Someone else gave me the invite.
Wow! I didn't notice that it doesn't come out until September. I put a hold on it at my library. It'll come eventually.
Its a good thing I have a good and long tbr pile to keep my busy. Because, really, wereunicorns? Yes please, very much.
Thought this was going to be about an actual angel, but ya... =) I was resistant in the beginning since I didn't like the circumstances of how the two came together. Not how it was written, just that a dad could be that domineering... By the end of it I really liked the characters and I want the tiger.
Just finished Magic Burns last night. So excited that I just started Magic Strikes!! This is the one everybody keeps telling me is the real Kate Daniels stuff.
Great, Darcy. I always do this. I somehow end up reading the best one first and then go back to read everything else to find out they're not as great. I guess if I read the worst one first I wouldn't keep reading, but at some point I want to read a decent one and save the best for last. =)

They are great when you need a light fluffy and forget it read.

Magic Strikes is my favorite of the series. :D
I did this with Quinn and umm... the other Romance lady... umm... hold on...Kleypas. I always seem to pick up their best first. I'm happy with the rest of the stuff, but I never get blown away by an amazing one because I read that one first.
I think Kleypas is going to be like that for me too. I fell in love so much with the Hathaways books and am having a harder time with her other books. I know that Wallflowers seem to be most people's favorites, but I wasn't very impressed with WF 1. I do hear that book 3 (I think) is supposed to be good though.Never did go back and read the rest of Bow Street Runners.
I might buddy read those with a friend who's looking to check out her contemp stuff. I don't normally like contemporary romance but I'm willing to give it a shot.
I think that if you like her writing style, you'd probably like her newer historicals either way because the historical part is sort of almost in the background. It's not like historical fiction with a lot of extra info, but more like a romance that just happens to be taking place in another time. The Hathaways are both funny and sexy books.
