Singh was a surprise for me too. I thought I'd hate it for some reason.

Jessica B | 292 comments I finished Tempest's Legacy (Jane True, #3) by Nicole Peeler last night. I thought it was great! I really love this series... it feels sort of like Sookie Stackhouse. Quite a few laugh out loud moments.

I stopped reading sookie stack house in the middle of the first book it was going really slow and then they way the main characters Pov addressed African Americans was blah tho is was realistic.I just like to read books that dont focus to much on race or create their own races.

Irene Hollimon | 89 comments I just read Blood Memories (Vampire Memories, #1) by Barb Hendee and it was... pretty good.
It's the first book in the Vampire Memories series. The world gets built, the characters and scene arranged but nothing gets resolved. The story has only begun.

Whitney (whitneychakara) | 1272 comments I just finished Halfway to the Grave (Night Huntress, #1) by Jeaniene Frost and it was awesome I will def be completing the series and reading more from this author. I will be going to the VH topic to do a little chatting now that I have finished the book lol.

Jasmine (jadorejas94) | 950 comments The Princess & the Penis by RJ Silver

The book was amusing, though I didn't find it nearly as hilarious as others. Even though the title is The Princess & The Penis it has no smut at all, and is actually. . .sweet in a way, well the ending is. :) It's a free ebook and it's worth the 10-20 minutes it takes to read it.

Jessica B | 292 comments I've recently finished

A Kingdom of Dreams (Westmoreland, #1) by Judith McNaught - my secret Santa picked it for me in another group and it was awesome!
Morrigan's Cross (Circle Trilogy, #1) by Nora Roberts Dance of the Gods (Circle trilogy, #2) by Nora Roberts - this is a re-read of the first two books in my favourite Nora Roberts trilogy. I'm currently on the third.

message 1059: by Paula (new)

Paula (pauldajo) I finished listening to The Enchantment Emporium. It wasn't a bad listen, but the whole incest thing was creepy and the female's obsession with sex (especially with cousins) was distrubing. Fortunately there were no graphic scenes. The females of the family had no trouble magically controlling the actions of others for personal gain. No free will issues at all. If not for the incest and bullying the book would have been great.

I liked the whole yo yo joke with that book.

message 1061: by Paula (new)

Paula (pauldajo) I did like the yo yos and Joe. I also loved the sorceror's son and his whole attitude about food.

Samantha | 432 comments I just finished Call Me Irresistible by Susan Elizabeth Phillips , which was a lot of fun. SEP is my sundae dessert of authors, I can always count on her.

Jessica B | 292 comments I just finished Whitney, My Love (Westmoreland, #2) by Judith McNaught . It was an emotional roller coaster. Great read!

Something About You by Julie James
This is the fourth time I've tried to read this book and never before have I managed to finish it (last time I came shy of 50 pages before another book caught my fancy). Glad I finally finished it, because it is such a cute book. And how awesome is it that the dress on the cover matches the dress in the book.

message 1065: by Vivian (new)

Vivian (_vivian) Finished Venom (Elemental Assassin, #3) by Jennifer Estep and have to say, this series gets better with each book. Favorite so far, 4.5 stars :)

Also reading The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls and it's super interesting, although I can see myself getting frustrated with the parents.

Whitney (whitneychakara) | 1272 comments Just finished One Foot in the Grave it was awesome it seems like the series is getting better as it goes along. Ive decided to try to finish some books Ive had started s Im going to try to finish Last Sacrafice today but for some reason im not really into it and i only have about 100 pgs or less to finish.

message 1068: by Jessica B (new)

Jessica B | 292 comments Just finished When Beauty Tamed the Beast by Eloisa James . The cover is awful but the story was actually pretty good. I would recommend it to people who like a little change up the typical beauty and the beast storyline.

message 1069: by Carrie (Care) (new)

Carrie (Care) (care76) | 1746 comments I read Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins and I frakking LOVED it!!!! I don't know what it is about certain YA contemp romance, but some of it just makes me melt. I started it around midnight and read most of it until my eyes just didn't want to read anymore. Then I finished it this morning. 5 stars. <3

message 1070: by Whitney (new)

Whitney (whitneychakara) | 1272 comments I finished Last Sacrifice it was pretty good but not as action packed as some of the previous books. There were things that got on my nerves about it and kept me from reading it for a while. I do have to say GOOOOO ADRIAN he needed to say what he said Rose just thought he would just accept what she has been doing to him and say okay and just run along with it HA. lol I love Adrian.

I So Totally agree with you about this one!! I loved it and I can't wait for more from this author. She's got two more she's planning on writing, I believe she's turned in the draft for the second. :D

Sooz Malinoski (soozee) | 55 comments With being snowed in I finished a few books...
FinishedMagic at the Gate: An Allie Beckstrom Novel and totally loved it!
Plus I finally got around to reading Vampire Academy. It took me a while to get into it, but by the end I was hooked. I also read My Zombie Valentine and it was great fun!

message 1073: by Tya (new)

Tya | 846 comments I just finished Halfway to the Grave. And it was...ok. I didn't really love anything about it. But, I'm willing to give it a few more books before I call it quits. Everyone here seems to love the series. I put the next one on hold at the library but theres a waiting list. They do get better, right?

message 1074: by Stacia (the 2010 club) (last edited Feb 01, 2011 02:46PM) (new)

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 827 comments Book 1 was my favorite actually, so I'm not sure what you would think. I'm surprised you didn't like it, since it's a pretty well-received series across the board, but that's okay. We don't all have to have the same tastes.

Honestly, I'd almost be inclined to say with this particular series that if book 1 didn't do it for you, there's a good chance you won't be into the rest of them. This isn't like so many other series where the first book is weak and each book gets progressively better. I think Frost started strong right off the bat with Night Huntress and kept a good pace.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 827 comments So I just finished Married By Morning (The Hathaways, #4) by Lisa Kleypas from the Hathaways series :

Mine Till Midnight (The Hathaways, #1) by Lisa Kleypas Seduce Me at Sunrise (The Hathaways, #2) by Lisa Kleypas Tempt Me at Twilight (The Hathaways, #3) by Lisa Kleypas Married By Morning (The Hathaways, #4) by Lisa Kleypas Love in the Afternoon (The Hathaways, #5) by Lisa Kleypas

and I have to say that I am simply loving this author. Her books are so fun! The characters and story are entertaining, there's usually a fair amount of witty banter, and there's enough steam to satisfy that itch without it being the main focus of the book.

message 1076: by Tya (new)

Tya | 846 comments You know, its not that I didn't enjoy Night Huntress, I did. It just felt abrupt. Like, right when I started getting into the story it was over. Right when I was thinking, "Hey, I think Bones has a thing for her" he's declaring his love. I think that I'm going to give the series a book or two more to see if her writing style grows on me, if it doesn't sad day.

message 1077: by Carrie (Care) (new)

Carrie (Care) (care76) | 1746 comments I love book one, but for me books three and four were better. Although I do agree that if you aren't really into the first, you might not care for the rest.

message 1078: by Heather (new)

Heather T (horrorvacui000) | 5931 comments Mod
Okay, well, originally book 2 was her idea for the story and then she went back wrote the prequel to them meeting. It has to end how it did for her to get to the idea that inspired her to write the books.

message 1079: by Vivian (new)

Vivian (_vivian) I didn't know that book 2 was the original! I think book 1 might be my favorite, so I'm glad it's there :)

message 1083: by Jasmine (new)

Jasmine (jadorejas94) | 950 comments I'm going to have to reread those before the final one. I tried the first couple of pages and had no idea who the characters were.

You freaked me out because you said the final one. I know there's going to be at least a 4th one.

They aren't the greatest and I know how bad they are, but at the same time I keep reading them. I haven't figured out why I keep reading them.

message 1087: by Jasmine (new)

Jasmine (jadorejas94) | 950 comments Oh ya! I keep forgetting it's not a trilogy. O.o For some reason I always thought it was until last week I read in someone's review that there was going to be a fourth.

I rated the first two 4 stars, so even though I don't remember them at all I seemed to have enjoyed them a lot. LOL.

message 1088: by Paula (new)

Paula (pauldajo) I finished reading Linger. It wasn't a bad read. I really can't say that the book had a story in the 'begining, middle and end' concept. This was definately the 'middle' of the trilogy. It had a filler feel to it. Just hanging around until the 3rd book comes around. I did like reading about the characters' new developments. There were a couple of new characters and we didn't hear much about some of the characters from the 1st book. Linger is a relationship book and that's ok with me. It didn't instill a poetry of emotions that Shiver did, though.

Will you be checking out her contemporary romance books? I've been thinking about doing that once I finish her Hathaway books.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 827 comments Gah, since I did it backward, after I'm done with Hathaways I'm going to read Again the Magic (since it comes before Wallflowers), then Wallflowers.

The next series I'll probably try by her is Bow Street Runners. I'm not a big contemp person, but after I'm done with her historicals, I'll probably end up trying some, since her writing is so enchanting.

Someone to Watch over Me (Bow Street Runners Series #1) by Lisa Kleypas I love this cover. The color is so pretty.

Shera (Book Whispers) (sherabookwhispers) | 2445 comments Ooooo, I spaced out the Bow Street Runners series. I think I'll finish up with the Wallflowers, move on the the Hathaways, then jump on Again the Magic, and the of course the Bow Street Runners.

I'm not a huge fan of contemp either, but if all of those go well there's no way I"m missing anything by this author.

Wait. . .so what order are they supposed to be read in? Do characters from one series show up in another?

message 1094: by Carrie (Care) (new)

Carrie (Care) (care76) | 1746 comments I just finished Nevermore by Kelly Creagh and it was frakking AMAZING!!!!!!!! Seriously, amazing. If I had to compare it to another book I couldn't I would have to pick a few. The first half is more like a cross between Perfect Chemistry and Some Girls Are with a little bit of Fallen thrown in. Then the second half gets more twisted and creepy (which is why I compare it to Fallen. That 'WTF is going on' question that kept popping into my head while reading it).

The whole book was so different from what I have read before. Even though it has similarities to some books, it is actually extremely unique. Varen is not the incredibly hot, tough guy that most YA romances have as the male love interest. He and the book itself, were dark, sweet, intelligent, romantic, twisted, and beautiful. I so loved it.

message 1095: by Carrie (Care) (new)

Carrie (Care) (care76) | 1746 comments Oh, and I just have to say - this year rocks so far in terms of books I have read. I have read 3, 5 star reads in just one week! Sometimes I go months without having a 5 star read. Wow.

message 1096: by Whitney (new)

Whitney (whitneychakara) | 1272 comments I just finished BeastlyI gave it 4/5 starts. I think it was a cute story but at times it was a little rushed and somethings towards the end were thrown in there and there was no lead up to that point thorugh out the book.I still look foward to reading more from this author.

You don't have to read them in an order to understand anything. They are two different series. The only reason why most read Wallflowers first is because Kleypas wrote those first, and a couple of WF characters make cameos in Hathaways, but they don't have any storyline other than "oh we just went to so and so's house." So in that aspect, there really is no order or need to read one series before the other.

I'd still read the Wallflower books first, there's some potential plot twists that might be ruined if you read the Hathaways first.
