Angela B I just finished The Agency by Ally O'Brien and I loved it 5 stars! The ending rocked! I wish there was more book after that but the ending did wrap things up well

Jessica B | 292 comments I just finished Kiss an Angel by Susan Elizabeth Phillips and I thought it was awesome! I loved it! 5 stars... One of the best contemporary romances I have ever read... it was a crazy plots that work kind of book.

message 1003: by Carrie (Care) (new)

Carrie (Care) (care76) | 1746 comments Oh wow, both of you had 5 star reads! I hardly ever get them. Even most of my favourite series have 4 and 3 stars.

I just finished Immortal in Death (In Death, #3) by J.D. Robb . I really liked this one for all we learn involving Eve's past. Also, the secondary characters really shine in this one. I was still disappointed when I pegged the killer almost immediately. I wonder if this normal, do most people figure it our near the beginning? Or am I just like a super detective? I usually am pretty good with theories and stuff... LOL.

I think that is my favorite of hers. I loved Daisy and the bit with the tiger just makes me go ohhhh.

I usually figure out the killers pretty early, but for me the that is the worst part of the books. I read for all of those secondary characters. They just keep getting better and better.

Shera (Book Whispers) (sherabookwhispers) | 2445 comments Finished Shadowspell (Faeriewalker, #2) by Jenna Black last night. I have to say the series if very promising, Black is finally getting into full swing.

Ethan still is not my favorite character, there was no redeeming himself after the last book.

Mercy Blade (Jane Yellowrock, #3) by Faith Hunter
It was SO good. Ugh it ended in a cliffhanger though >:( Need new book now

message 1008: by Amanda (new)

Amanda (peanutty222) I just read Blood Bound (Mercedes Thompson, #2) by Patricia Briggs and it was good. Better than the first book. The only complaint I have is it seemed like half the book was the story and throughout the story was a A LOT of background info on vampires, werewolves and fae. There was an overabundance of info in this book, but it was still good! I'm hopeing the info will be of value while reading the rest of the series.
3.5 stars.

Shera (Book Whispers) (sherabookwhispers) | 2445 comments I felt this book was a dissapiontment, but I LOVED the first book.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 827 comments I only thought books 1 and 2 were average at best for Mercy. In fact I think I gave them 3 stars and 3.5 stars myself.

I really need to start book 3 again. It's not right for me to bug all my friends to read the series I want them to and not return the favor, and a few people want me to finish the series off.

message 1011: by Carrie (Care) (new)

Carrie (Care) (care76) | 1746 comments But from what I have read, most people really love the second book, so I decided not to read anymore. I think 2 books is enough when trying a series. It's enough to get past the first book which can sometimes be the problem.

Heather T (horrorvacui000) | 5931 comments Mod
I think I liked the 3rd one a lot more than the 2nd.

Shera (Book Whispers) (sherabookwhispers) | 2445 comments The third one definitely picked itself up after the 2nd book.

message 1014: by Jessica B (new)

Jessica B | 292 comments I finished reading Linger (The Wolves of Mercy Falls, #2) by Maggie Stiefvater last night. I thought it was much better then the first one. Isabel still remains my favourite character. I look forward to reading the conclusion.

message 1015: by Tarryn (last edited Jan 10, 2011 11:29AM) (new)

Tarryn (the_opal_bibliophile) I thought Shiver was incredible but Linger definitely set the bar up even higher.

I just finished Entice (Need, #3) by Carrie Jones and I thought it was great!

message 1016: by Amanda (last edited Jan 10, 2011 11:30AM) (new)

Amanda (peanutty222) I just read Afterlight (The Dark Ink Chronicles, #1) by Elle Jasper and it was o.k. I liked it enough to read the second book when it comes out, but more because I just want to know what is going to happen. The main character was annoying and the second characters saved the book.
It reminds me of a mix of Sookie Stackhouse (because of the main character) and Twilight (because of the love affair). I think a lot of people would like it, it just isn't on my top pick list.

Me, too! Both on the 2nd being better, and Isabel was my fav, too. I liked her attitude and sarcasm. I thought it was much more of an improvement on the first, but the plot seemed to hit all the same points, but with different situations. It was especially noticeable with the ending.

I liked that one also, and Heaven, Texas is my fav from SEP. :D

I liked Linger more too.

Yeah I thought the same. The whole book is riddled with words like 'wicked ___' and '___ as hell' and 'friggin ___', which starts to annoy after a while. She's 27 years old but she sounds like Dani from the fever series, who is 14.

And there was this part where Eli tells her he had been watching her sleep before they even met and instead of going: 'uhm thats weird' she got all happy and excited. That was very twilight-ish

I wrote a review a month ago complaining about this but I'm too lazy to type it out and post, so I'm complaining in this comment now haha

message 1021: by Vivian (new)

Vivian (_vivian) Finished Web of Lies (Elemental Assassin, #2) by Jennifer Estep and really liking this series so far :)

message 1022: by Jessica B (new)

Jessica B | 292 comments Just finished with To Tame a Highland Warrior (Highlander, #2) by Karen Marie Moning . It was just okay in my opinion. It was lacking a little something. I hope the next one is better.

Is this series pretty humorous?

message 1024: by Heather (new)

Heather T (horrorvacui000) | 5931 comments Mod
At times it's pretty funny. Book 4 is the big grabber of the series.

Shera (Book Whispers) (sherabookwhispers) | 2445 comments That's what I keep hearing. Not sure if I want to stick it through if it doesn't good tell book 4.

I thought book 2 was the weakest. 1 was entertaining, 2 was so-so, 3 picked up again and 4 had me adicted.

I will agree with you there.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 827 comments I didn't get addicted until Dageus' book, which was 5, but I'd recommend reading 4 first since Drustan is Dageus' brother and they are connected. I only read the books because I wanted the tie-in with the Fever series, but I'm glad now that I did.

Shera, they are standalones, so you can skip ahead.

message 1029: by Carrie (Care) (new)

Carrie (Care) (care76) | 1746 comments So I am really liking Nyphron Rising (The Riyria Revelations, #3) by Michael J. Sullivan but I am missing Eve, Roarke, and the gang from In Death.

message 1030: by Darcy (new)

Darcy (sunnytat462) | 2770 comments You are hooked now, Carrie!!

message 1031: by Carrie (Care) (new)

Carrie (Care) (care76) | 1746 comments I am! Good thing there are so many of them. I might not get any challenges done because all my books might have the same damn letters in them, lol.

message 1032: by Darcy (new)

Darcy (sunnytat462) | 2770 comments lol, I get what you are saying Carrie. I read all of the ones within a month when I discovered them, there were 20 of them at the time and I was working. I just couldn't stop. I would pick 5 of them up, then right away request 5 more, so they were ready to pick up when I was done.

message 1033: by Heather (new)

Heather T (horrorvacui000) | 5931 comments Mod
I'll be reading the first one soon. I'm hoping I can take my time with them, but I doubt it.

message 1034: by Carrie (Care) (new)

Carrie (Care) (care76) | 1746 comments Well I am trying not to read them all at once, but who knows how that will go.

message 1035: by Heather (new)

Heather T (horrorvacui000) | 5931 comments Mod
I ended up reading all of the Kenyon book and all of LKH as fast as my library could get them after the first book. I've only ever managed to show restraint with Kim Harrison somehow.

message 1036: by Dana (new)

Dana (dlcartright) | 18 comments Heather wrote: "I just finished The Lightning Thief (Percy Jackson and the Olympians, #1) by Rick Riordan and then I went to see the movie. The movie was so different. The book isn't always correct in it's mythology, but the movie managed to butcher..."

Later in the series you find out that she has kids the way she was born... they spring out of her head.

message 1037: by Heather (new)

Heather (nickyblue7) The part of the story was very weird i have to say but it makes sense since thats how she was born

message 1038: by Paula (new)

Paula (pauldajo) I finally finished Spider's Bite. I liked some things about the book, but was irritated by more.

message 1039: by Carrie (Care) (new)

Carrie (Care) (care76) | 1746 comments What irritated you?

***SPOILERS***

It drove me nuts that she would sleep with somebody so obviously disgusted by her. I get they had sexual chemistry, but really there is such a thing as self control.

Things do change up by the third book and I really like the new direction it takes.

I have read all of these ones, but am listening to the audio's of them now. Am on the first one. The narrator is really good. I forgot how much I like them!!

message 1041: by Vivian (new)

Vivian (_vivian) **Spider's Bite spoiler response**

The sex in the first book bothered me too, but more on a I'm supposedly the ultimate professional, but I totally let my hormones get the best of me during a job thing that didn't work for me.

And the writing is a bit repetitive.

That being said, I still liked it much more than I was bothered by it.

Can you spoil me on what happens? I keep hearing that they get better, but I started reading the second and all the things that bugged me where still there (the assbutt detective and the constant: 'mmm' and references to eye colors) If I have something to look forward to it will keep me motivated :)

***Elemental Assassin Series (Spoiler)***

She tries with him again in book 2. It's one of those things where she's trying to hope he'll just get over it and then things would work. A lot of girls do that actually...hang on just in case. Anyway, she meets someone interesting in book 2 and then the first guy runs away essentially. Book 3 was great. I like the boy in book 3.

message 1044: by Jessica B (new)

Jessica B | 292 comments I just finished with Dark Needs at Night's Edge (Immortals After Dark, #5) by Kresley Cole . Book 5 of the Immortals After Dark series! Really enjoying them. this was my favourite so far. Conrad Wroth is a stud!

I agree with you there. When we met the guy in book 2 I wanted her to get rid of the other doofus right away!!

I'm anxiously awaiting ook 4. These are so much better than her superhero series. Then again, she wrote them when light and fluffy romances were all the rage.

I had to force myself through them since I needed a J and an H book. Plus, I bought them thinking they'd be good. I felt like I had to read them after that.

message 1049: by Carrie (Care) (last edited Jan 16, 2011 05:47AM) (new)

Carrie (Care) (care76) | 1746 comments I finished Nyphron Rising (The Riyria Revelations, #3) by Michael J. Sullivan and I loved it! The beginning was slower than the usual Riyria book, but the last half was awesome. Arista is now one of my favourite characters. Her growth is truly amazing in this book. I was worried she might fade out after the way the book ended, but I just started the next one and she is surprising once again. Love it! I had really thought her and somebody were maybe falling for eachother, but then she was in love with somebody else... It was sweet, but I really want her with this other guy. I don't even know his age so he might be way older that her, but I don't think it would be more than 8-10 max. I think I might go join a RR group to get some good details. :)

I also finished The Replacement by Brenna Yovanoff and I was super disappointed. The concept was good, but it was so boring for me.

message 1050: by Irene (new)

Irene Hollimon | 89 comments It just read Drink of Me by Jacquelyn Frank and it was... No surprises but if you're in the mood for PNR, it's pretty good. I liked the writing style.

I just read Archangel's Kiss (Guild Hunter, #2) by Nalini Singh and it was... surprisingly good. I didn't expect much going in. I'm mostly a UF girl but I was kind of in the mood for some PNR. It's the second in a series. It actually had a good UF side. It has a lot of potential. I'm surprised I ended up liking this author.
