I just read... And it was...
Stacia, I was planning on reading that until you compared it to Shiver. I like cute, light YA romances, but I didn't really care for Shiver. I give it about a 2.5. I thought the writing was great but I didn't care one once for the characters or their story. I hope it's not too much like Shiver.
I liked it better than Shiver if that helps? The time travel thing and the fact that the main character spoke Italian sort of sealed the deal for me.
The only similarities between this book and Shiver were the fact that the main character can't control how/when he time travels, which made me think of Sam's inability to control his wolf. The stories are not similar at all.
And no, this book is nothing like The Time Traveler's Wife. I really didn't like that book at all.
I love that book! The ending was so sad. ='[ I got to a point where I would cry, compose myself, read a line, and then have to stop and compose myself all over again. I think I dropped the rating by one star just because I hated the ending so much. I didn't think it was necessary. -_-
The ending was sort of sweet though. Usually I don't like it when authors try to bring that closure if it's not needed (like Mockingjay's epilogue), but for some reason that was one of my favorite parts of the book.I think that the reason TTW didn't work for me was that the hero felt very beta to me, and not in a cute "shy nerd" way, but moreso in an "average" way. Plus, I couldn't stand Gomez or whatever his name was.
I finished reading Killbox and liked it. The book started out a bit strange. The tone was not the same as the other books. Maybe because Jax wasn't her old paranoid self. She has grown emotionally. Quite frankly the constant paranoia was too much in the previous books. There was a small cliffhanger. Nothing upsetting.I also finished The Magician. Not my favorite book, but readable. I liked the book more when there was action and not when the characters were trying to relate to one another. Scott didn't do well in that area. Something is missing.
I finished listening to Men of the Otherworld. Well written though some of the story was hard to listen to. I also thought that parts of this story was manufactored to explain away the harshness of previous books. I did like Jaime and Jeremy's short sweet story.
Really enjoyed this one! Some of the writing is very teenager-ish - like the overuse of "awesome" - but an interesting story. I also thought the relationship that develops in there is really sweet and innocent, like I-wanna-hold-your-hand sweet. Really likeable characters.
I just downloaded Paranormalcy for less than $9 from amazon.com. I've seen many good reviews and hope I agree with them!
Even though I just started listening to Paranormalcy, I really like the story and the narrator's voice. She sounds appropriately like a teenager. Evie's short life has been an interesting one.

Ahh! I love I-wanna-hold-your-hand sweet. It's so tender. Can't wait for the paperback release.

I think it worked well for this story, just enough cheesiness without going overboard :)
I've only finished the first story by Lynn Kurland and I loved it. It was so cute.
It's from he De Piaget series. Now I want to try book one. Too bad it seems to be out of print. I'm going to try through the library before I go the used book route. However, for some reason, my library's website dies at night and only partially works. They can't be running updates nightly can they?
I thought it was great! It was scary/amazing how the author managed to turn everything into a sexual innuedo, but the best part were the songs. So funny.
Spoilers included!!!JUST FINISHED
AWESOMMEEE MY LIBRARY DOESNT HAVE THE SERIES SO IM GOING TO TRY TO GET THEM TO GET IT BUT MAYBE NOT BECAUSE IT MIGHT TAKE A WHILE I MAY JUST WAIT THE 6 DAYS TILL PAYMENT AND BUY THE NEXT TWO. THERE ARE GOING TO BE SEVEN!!! I LOVE MERIT AND I LOVE ETHAN SEXY SELF LOL. I FEEL LIKE MORGAN ISNT ALL GOOD LIKE HE CLAIMS TO BE HOW CAN THE SECOND NOT HAVE KNOWN THE MASTERS PLANS FOR WORLD DOMINATION.
Was pretty sweet. However, it still took the easy way out. Still really excited about this series.
I really liked this one. Maybe even more then Perfect Chemistry. I just can't beleave the ending. At least there's another book!
Shera, I like Returning to Paradise even more then Leaving Paradise! I like them more then Perfect Chemistry too. :)
The Perfect Chemistry and Leaving Paradise are completely seperate series right? I think I want to read Leaving Paradise first, I've heard good things about it :)
read
and
. They were both okay, a little underwhelming. Glimmerglass might have potential as a series though, will have to read the next one to see.
Crescendo was just amazing. I love Becca Fitzpatrick for thinking of such a great story. :)
I'm almost done with The Last Lecture and I think it's a good book. It's not amazing, but it's interesting and not something I'd normally pick up so I'm glad my book club at school read it. It's about this teacher that knew he was going to die due to pancreatic cancer and before he did he gave this "last lecture." The book is about that lecture, and I think it's mostly by him but his friend actually published it after he died. . .I'm not 100% sure though. I'm not really sure how to describe the book. . . I guess it's about living your life to the fullest and remembering the good times. Like I said, I'm almost done, but the book is basically the same message over and over so I'm just writing about it now instead of once I finish it. :D
Shera (Book Whispers) wrote: "Perfect Chemistry was definitely more addcitive. Leaving Paradise felt more real/in depth."I agree. Although I have to say I loved the sequel to Paradise better than the sequel to Chemistry.
They are different series, but I guess because the author has such a distinctive writing style they all get lumped together.
Just finished
, and I enjoyed the story and would read more, but am not in a rush to read all the previous ones. I love Jenks the best and Nick looks intriguing... It's missing something for me to make it a great book, but don't know what it is... Any ideas? Started
yesterday and already have read 3 of the 4 stories.... Help, I'm addicted to anthologies!
Sooz: While I love the Hollow series, something was lacking in the first installment to make it a 5/5. After rereading it, I still don't know what it is that's missing.Carrie: I keep hearing Return to Paradise is even better. I just can't wait to read it now!

It was difficult to connect to the characters in book one. You weren't really behind Rachel just yet.

Finished
and
. Like some others have said, Magic Study isn't quite as awesome as Poison Study, but I still thought it was a good read.
omg I liked Magic Study the best it took me a while to get into Poison Study but I flew through Magic Study.
Thanks Heather and Shera... Having read the other thread on the series and some of the quotes, I will have to pick up book two sooner than later...Thanks!
I just finished
which was a great first book for a series. Plus it has the added bonus of being a "Q" book that we can use for our challenge here, a hard letter.
I plan on reading Queen of Shadows next month. I've been hearing positive things about it. What did you think of it?
Shera (Book Whispers) wrote: "I plan on reading Queen of Shadows next month. I've been hearing positive things about it. What did you think of it?"It was very good, I would recommend it.
- I loved it. It probably only deserves 4 stars, but there's such a connection to the the main character that I can't give it any less than 5. I didn't feel like I was reading a book. I felt like I was in someone's life.
I finished
lastnight and it was cute. I don't think it's a series I'm too concerned about continuing though.
I finally finished The Scorch Trials. I was so into it, but just didn't have the time. I loved it! I am freaking for the next book, but I think it left off better than the first.

What's strange is that the top few ratings on the page do seem low, but there are 4 people on my friends list that have read it and between the 4 of them, there are 2 ratings that are 5 star, 1 rating that is 4 star and 1 rating that is three star. It almost makes me wonder if people read and reviewed the book that don't normally like this type of PNR. It does lie more on the Twilight/Shiver/Firelight end of the spectrum (more PNR, less UF), so if someone doesn't like cute love stories and wants a more kick butt protag, they probably won't like this one.
