Laura | 48 comments Toni you finished already?? Have you recovered from your massive swoon yet?! Even at the end, Captain Elliot was just something else, so tender and concerned. ::audible sigh:: Thanks for your kind comments honey!! Love chatting with you about all these great books :)

Milena (love_tea78) | 158 comments OK, I am intrigued, who is Captain Elliot and what book is he in?

May (chrissy_12) | 86 comments That's ok Toni ;)
I have worked out a balance system for when it comes to addictive books and uni work haha.
I am definitely liking it thus far, although I am a bit mad at Mr James Fraser at the moment (pg 401)... but I guess that is what it was like back then, but still a bit upsetting.

I just finished Midsummer Moon by Laura Kinsale. So cute! I love my cute heroines.

I'm lagging on the Summer Garden because I don't want it to ever ever ever end!

Midsummer Moon by Laura Kinsale

I just finished the Summer Garden and seriously, I need someone's shoulder to cry on. What an incredible book! I'm so upset I've come to the end of the trilogy. Life just won't ever be the same again.

No it never will! I find myself going back and rereading it everytime I miss Alexander! :)

Captain Elliot is from These Is My Words by Nancy E. Turner . So swoon-worthy, sans the mustache... But there's nothing like Alexander ;) I keep searching and searching...but nothing even comes close.

My library has this yippie I'm going to request it soon. I also notice another book Sarah's quilt : the continuing diary of Sarah Agnes Prine, 1906 have you read that?

message 659: by May (last edited Aug 26, 2011 07:07AM) (new)

May (chrissy_12) | 86 comments Rena I acted the same way, I felt completely lost without the series. But like Kelly said, When ever I am down or need a bit of a getaway I just go back to the series and read a random chapter, it can always take me away to another life no matter what.
I think the series will always be my number one :)

That is the sequel to In These Words! I have not started it yet but Hildy is reading it right now, I believe she is enjoying it.

Chrissy, I can't read a random chapter, I get sucked in and have to read the entire thing!! And then my brain just doens't function until I finish it...sigh...my sanity and life cannot afford to read this series that often, I lose control of reality. :)

message 661: by Jessica (new)

Jessica | 183 comments Milena, I've just finished Sashenka. It was good but nothing to rave about unfortunately (in my opinion). I've written a short review here - http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/...

message 662: by Milena (new)

Milena (love_tea78) | 158 comments Jessica, thank you, great review. I did start reading the book, but like you found it slow, so I decided to stop reading it for now. I might go back to it sometime, but won't be rushing to read it after your review and my own experience.

message 663: by May (new)

May (chrissy_12) | 86 comments Haha that's hilarious Laura. Well I guess The Bronze Horseman just has that pull on all of us, to change reality into a land of war, family and love... Hmm now I feel like I need to read it!!

message 664: by Toni (new)

Toni | 298 comments Laura wrote: "Toni you finished already?? Have you recovered from your massive swoon yet?! Even at the end, Captain Elliot was just something else, so tender and concerned. ::audible sigh:: Thanks for your kind ..."
Laura-I'm still in swoon mode to be truthful. I usually find myself in a case of constant swoon with the last dashing character I read (with the addition of Jamie and Alexander who are on the all time *double sigh-knee buckling swoon & so wistfully dreamy I think I'll faint* list ;)!!) Capt Jack Elliot definitely put me in a happy place. He was a great character...sans the 'stache, I completely agree with you on that. In my reading mind he was definitely without facial hair.

Milena-definitely go find These Is My Words (nominated for the worst title of all time LOL) it's a great read and if you're into dashing and yummy hero's (and I'm mortally suspicious of anyone who isn't LOL) then you'll enjoy it for sure.

Chrissy-I'm too lazy to go and find my copy of Outlander, but I think I know what part you're talking of (is it the smacky smacky chapter?). That's the only time I can remember at least when I was out of sorts with that verra bonny man. When I read that part, Leea had just posted that she liked Jamie better than Alexander bc Alexander was...hmmm, I don't recall the exact word she used and I don't want to put words in her mouth, but something along the lines of....domineering? controlling? Something like that. And I had just read that particular passage in Outlander. I posted to her that I wholeheartedly disagreed and thought that Jamie Fraser was waayy more so. She said--and I tease her about this in a very affectionate way--'well, to each his own'. Her little way I think of rolling her eyes at me. Well, after I read on more I had to re-post that I was waaayyyy wrong on that one, and I bowed my head to Leea for her correctness. She was nice enough not to post me with a big I told you so and instead wrote: 'Well said'...it's still makes me laugh at her great diplomacy in the situation. Well done Leea if you're reading this!! :) Anyhow Chrissy, Jamie had that one little indiscretion which was Very Normal for the time and which he did still in a sweet loving way..if that can be said of such an act. Post that episode
he's the sweetest hero ever (and yet a total warrior..)...not a bad combo if you ask me. An outlaw with a heart of gold. LOL. Keep enjoying Jamie..I have Echo sitting in front of me and though I'm dying to read it I keep putting other books ahead of it because I don't want Jamie to end (well, that is until DG puts out the next in the series-though I must say I'm getting a wee bit worried that soon DG is soon going to have to write about a geriatric Jamie eating stewed prunes and having prostate issues!! I wonder if Claire has a herb for That!!!). I must say I recently finished ABOSAA and it was definitely one of my all time FAVS!! So savor every minute and know I am wildly jealous that you are still a virgin to a Dragonfly in Amber thru ABOSAA Jamie..you lucky little devil you!! I say the same for anyone reading the TBH trilogy. I wish I could turn back time and read those fresh again...that's all I want for Christmas Santa!

And Kelly-Enjoy!! I'd love to hear what you think of it. I'll look forward to your review! As for Sarah's Quilt, I'm also waiting for Hildy to give it a thumbs up or down. It did get very good reviews but I am skeptical for one big reason that I will not say for spoilers sake. Laura...I think you may know what I mean on that one!:)

Enjoy your week everyone!!!!!!!

Tina | 231 comments I am finally starting The Fiery Cross. Back to Jamie Land.....

message 666: by Leea (new)

Leea | 317 comments Hahaha Tina! I knew what I was getting myself into coming here to TBH group with all my Jamie Frasier love. I agree, ABOSAA is my favorite book because so much happens and I think it's a turning point.

Tina we still need to find you a picture :)

I'm currently reading the final book in the Georgina Kincaid Series, Succubus Revealed I love the humor in these books they are smart, sexy and well written.

Up next after that is another male love of mine, Bones from the Night Huntress series, One Grave at a Time

message 667: by Tina (new)

Tina | 231 comments ABOSAA is the next book after TFC right?

Can't wait to read that one. Everyone says it's their favorite. Up to now Voyager is my favorite.

Megan | 410 comments Wow! This thread has been collecting cobwebs for a very long time!

Ok well I've just discovered the Stephanie Plum series by Janet Evanovich (One for the Money etc), and as far removed as this series is from The Bronze Horseman, I have a big fat fictional crush on Joe Morelli! Anyone else read them? I'm addicted!

message 670: by Leea (new)

Leea | 317 comments I read the first book and I love it. not sure why I haven't read the others.

message 671: by Jessica (new)

Jessica | 183 comments Excellent I'm going to try the series! Thanks Megan and Leea!

message 672: by Jessica (new)

Jessica | 183 comments Megan are you reading them on kindle or hard copy?

message 673: by Megan (new)

Megan | 410 comments Hard copy as I'm borrowing them from my library, but I've just picked up 6 and 7 but 5 isn't in yet, so I'll buy 5 so I can get stuck in tonight. I had Morelli withdrawals last night! haha

message 674: by Megan (new)

Megan | 410 comments Bloody kindle. I swear almost every book I want to read on my kindle isn't available. Grrr! Looks like I'm goign to have to read something else until #5 comes in from the library.

hahahah awesome!! I know I had a giant crush on him as well. I loved the Plum series, but I was only able to read until the 6th book.. They are a very easy read and very entertaining but I found that it's always the same thing over and over again. And I really don't like long hair in guys so I am not sure what people that are "Team Ranger" see in him. lol

message 676: by Megan (new)

Megan | 410 comments LOL! I finished #7 and I agree - I don't see the appeal of Ranger either. I'm going to save the next instalment for one of those reading slumps I occasionally find myself in as these books are super-easy to read and I usually need something fluffy to regenerate my reading mojo...

I just finished the Descendants. It was ok. Looking for another book now. Any suggestions?

what kind of books do you like? I just finished this book called "The Lost Wife" it's a historical love fiction based in WW2 in Check Republic - it was a very quick read, sad book but very good as well. If you want to give that a try. I am trying to decide between "the host" and "the kommandant's girl" to read now... I am not sure if I am up for another WW2 love story at the moment, so was maybe going to read the host before the movie comes out. lol

message 678: by Jessica (new)

Jessica | 183 comments I enjoyed the host! It was completely different to what I normally read but quite enjoyable. I'm currently reading Two Brothers, which a lot of friends have raved about - its pretty good so far!

What is that one about?? Yeah I read the host a few years ago but really excited for the movie so wanted to refresh my memory :-)

message 680: by Jessica (new)

Jessica | 183 comments Mm I've just finished Two Brothers, and now that I have I'm not sure if I'd recommend it! It was really good and I read it quickly because I wanted to know what happened, but it left me feeling kind of flat. It's still probably worth a read though, if you're looking for something! It's kind of a survival/love/friendship/family story - set in nazi Germany and about a family and their two 'twin' sons (one Jew, and the other an adopted non-Jew).

That sounds interesting.. I might do that after I finish the book that I am reading. I have decided to start the "Dragonfly in Amber" (the second book of the Outlander series) have you read those?

message 682: by Jessica (new)

Jessica | 183 comments Yep I love the outlander series! Not as much as I love TBH trilogy, but it's definitely up there. I prefer the first few books in the series though, I found the remaining books dragged on a bit and I wasn't as eager to read them. They're still good though!

message 683: by E.K. (new)

E.K. (ekwoodcock) | 8 comments Good to hear - I am excited about this book - I was so confused the first few pages, wasn't sure if I got the right book or not but now life is starting to make sense again haha.

message 684: by Megan (new)

Megan | 410 comments Ebru - I've been stuck on #4 of the Outlander series but I LOVED "Dragonfly in Amber". Of the first 3, I enjoyed that the most.

message 685: by Megan (new)

Megan | 410 comments Ugh, I just read The Notebook. This is the ONLY book I've read that the movie trumps. It was so crap I vow never to read another Nicholas Sparks book again. I loved the movie, I've seen it numerous times and own the dvd but never got around to reading the book before now. I have never seen a movie adaptation where the screenwriter ADDS plot and character development to the movie... Thank goodness for that too. What a stinker of a book!

message 686: by Jessica (new)

Jessica | 183 comments So funny you say that Megan, I completely agree! Normally the book is always better than the movie, however the notebook book was terrible! I also don't read anything by Nicholas sparks anymore.

message 687: by E.K. (new)

E.K. (ekwoodcock) | 8 comments Megan - I'm very excited about the dragonfly in amber -I read 40 pages last night and its insane!! :-) I think this one is going to be a good one... I thought outlander was good but parts of it was so slow so I was a bit scared of this one but I think I will make it through it - I heart Jamie!!

message 688: by Megan (new)

Megan | 410 comments Jessica, our book tastes are so alike! :) Ebru, DIA is very historically detailed (it's not an easy read) but at the end of the book, there is a passage which affected me physically. I won't say any more than that, but I really respect Diana Gabaldon as an Author. I just wish I could get my mojo back with Drums of Autumn...

message 691: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie | 2 comments I am three quarters through my second read of TBH. I can't believe how emotional I get even though I know how the story turns out. I feel like I have cried halfway through the book! Is it just me? Maybe I need an intervention. ;-)

message 692: by Katrina (new)

Katrina (truelovecanbreakanycurse) | 4 comments No, don't worry, I cried so much in the T&A and I knew they were going to end up together in the end. I also really struggled through the middle of TBH, i wanted to give up, thankfully I didn't but I was so sleep deprived and emotionally raw when Alexander Finally found Tatiana in Lazareo (Sorry I forgot how to spell it).

Yes I really enjoyed T&A but I was a little disappointed in the end and I can't start TSG straight away I need a break I think. I already miss the original Shura at the end of T&A and I think I am too attached to that view of the character. I don't think I want to read some things I have heard that r in TSG yet.
Have u finished T&A or started TSG?

Yes I totally understand and agree, every book I read now does not measure up, I am much more critical now, I swear nothing will ever measure up for me, Tatiana and Alexander story really is the best love story i have ever read. Okkies I will read it soon, I swear to have my whole week clear of anything so I can become a reading hermit :-) I will let you know how I go hehe
