Hey LoLoo! Have you read any of the Lynsay Sands vamp series before? If you haven't- be patient with A Quick Bite- in my opinion it is not as good as the others!
Megan wrote: "Hey LoLoo! Have you read any of the Lynsay Sands vamp series before? If you haven't- be patient with A Quick Bite- in my opinion it is not as good as the others!"No I haven't read any of her stuff before. Thanks for the heads up. I read Christine Feehan's Dark Prince for the first time a couple months ago and wasn't too impressed but everyone tells me they get better too.
I read about 50 pages of Dark Prince probably about 6 or 7 years ago, and it didn't grab me then. I'm afraid to pick it up back again. A Quick Bite was the 3rd or 4th Lynsay Sands vampire book that I read- as they were published out of order- so I knew how much better the other were so I wasn't discouraged. However, I find it very hard to get over that first book in a series being not too good. It makes it very hard to pick up book 2.
Megan and Looloo--just remember--all first books tend to be the "worst" of a series, since the author is having to do so much setting up of the world/characters. I tend to be a little more lenient with a first book in a series than with the rest of the series. (Well, except for BDB--that one I just could NOT get into.) If the premise seems interesting, and you think that the world view has potential, then slog on through and head over the rest of the books.
Ann - I try to keep that in mind with a first book. I was talking to Suz the other day and she mentioned "firstbookitis" and I thought that was a good name for it. So you didn't like the first BDB? I didn't just love it but I stuck with it and now I really love the series. I thought it got much better as it went along. In fact the last book made me really like Wrath and I didn't care for him much in the first book. I've got faith the Lynsay Sands and Christine Feehan series will be the same way for me.
Looloo--no I'm one of the minority who just does not get any of the hype about BDB. I never DID get all the way through the first BDB--I did manange to wade through the second one--but it took me 3 days--mainly because I couldn't get into it, so I kept putting it down and going to another book. Finally on the third day I decided I had to either read it or return it to the library, so I sat down and forced myself to read it. While it was slightly better than the first--I still don't understand why everyone loves them so much. But then, that's what makes these forums so fun--the fact that everyone has different tastes.

But, I will read the second book at some point as I've been told the series gets much better.

This was a return to an author that I enjoyed but hadn't read in several years. I've recently found the Bardic Voices series by her, and am wondering how I'd missed them before. Ah well, too many books, not enough time I guess, right?

How did you like Everlasting Kiss?
Michelle wrote: "How did you like Everlasting Kiss?"I liked it! I gave it 4 stars. It started out pretty slow for about the first 100 pages, but then the plot really took off and it was a page turner from there!

Ya know--I'm glad this is not a really chatty group. I've been without a computer for the last 2 days (hubby was reloading the op sys with all the fun and games that requires) and, while its not completely fixed yet, it is better. :o)

I just finished The River Knows by Amanda Quick. It was the first novel I've ever read by her. Overall, I enjoyed it. I thought it started out a little slow, but it didn't take long before the story started to move along at a faster pace. Some pieces of the story were predicatable, but not so much so where I don't look forward to reading another Amanda Quick novel.

Have you read My Immortal and The Fallen? I have yet to start McCarthy's Seven Deadly Sin series, but I've heard good things.
aacckkkkk--I just realized--I didn't copy my document files onto the back-up hard drive--now I don't have any list of what I've been reading. (sob, sob, sob)

Oh no!! That really stinks! I hate when I lose something and I didn't back it up!!!
I have My Immortal but haven't read it yet. I'm in 3 challenges for February so I'll have to save it for March.

You can join in this challenge at any time during the month!
This Challenge is in honor of St. Valentine's Day! 5 books, one for each letter in "HEART"!
Rules: You can spell out “HEART” with any of the words from the title- it does not have to be with the first word (and if you need it to A, An, The, etc. may count if you wish). Must be romance books that have been either on your physical bookshelf TBR pile for at least 1 moth and/or a book that has been on your GoodReads TBR shelf for at least 1 month. The only exceptions? If the “newer” book has a St. Valentine’s theme. Some examples of this would be characters such as Cupid & Psyche, locations such as Rome, a book that has heart, love, cupid, dove, etc. in the title or cover.
