What are you currently reading 2010

Also, just to let you know, I will be bringing out the 5th book in the Lawson series THE KENSEI with St. Martin's Press in Spring 2011. I'm actually meeting the editor tomorrow in NYC, so that should be fun. She wants to bring out the whole series and many more adventures as well, complete with fantastic new covers and the whole nine yards.
I don't get over to this board all that much given my crazy schedule, but if you want to keep up with what I have going on, please be sure to check out my website (http://www.jonfmerz.net) or my Facebook Fan Page (http://www.facebook.com/jonfmerzfans) or even the Facebook fan page for the TV series itself (http://www.facebook.com/thefixertv)
Thanks again for reading my work - you all rock! :)
Best wishes,
Jon
Thanks for popping in, Jon. I'm excited to read your books. I hope the show does your books justice.

I also wanted to drop by and let you all know (in case you're interested) that I'm going to be selecting winners from a pool to get signed cover flats from the 5th Lawson Vampire book coming out Spring 2011 from St. Martin's Press. All you have to do to enter is send your name, email, and snail mail address to I Want To Win a Jon F. Merz Cover Flat and you're automatically entered.
Hope to have tons of you enter! :)

Though I've heard of occasions where authors are sometimes acquired to adapt their books on screen, this is not particularly common in showbiz. How did you manage to more or less get artistic control over the show? I remember an interview with James Patterson about putting his novel KISS THE GIRLS upon the big screen. He said he acted only as a "consultant" on the set, but all artistic control was left up to the writers and director.
Anyway, however you did it you have a huge achievement all around on your hands, Jon! First your books are enough of a success to make it on screen and second you actually get to write the episodes! How cool is that! Congratulations, my very best wishes to you! :)

Thanks for the kind words - hope you all take part in the cover flat contest (I'll be doing a lot more promotion around the release of this novel with plenty of VERY cool prizes, so the more folks who take part, the better!)
Thanks again for the warm welcome everyone!

I had planned to read Laura Kinsale's Lessons in French next, but I'm so eager to read the Reverend's story that I started Phury's book immediately after Unbound. It's too early to form any opinions, but I can't wait for it to be over that's all I know! :)
I like Phury, but I'm not as much of a fan of him as I am of Rhev & Wrath. I've loved Rhev's anti-hero qualities from day one and I've always thought Ward didn't do Wrath justice in his own book so I'm eager to see how she fleshes out both characters in Avenged. I also hear there's tension between Wrath and Beth in this book. I think that's awesome!
I hope BDB lovers don't throw rocks at me, but sometimes I find the brothers to be a bit too sappy and their relationships sometimes come across as too perfect to be entirely believable even in a paranormal sense, imo. It would be great to see a little conflict between the King and his beloved.
Moreover, if what most people say is true (that Enshrined is more UF than romance) then that's another factor which will contribute to me wanting to hurry through the book.

Bliss by Judy Cuevas
Black Ice by Ann Stuart
and Gabriel's Woman by Robin Schone
I did manage to finish a graphic novel Justice: Volume 1 by Alex Ross which was great.
The weird thing is that all of those books are quite good. I am enjoying them but I am not sinking into them.
I'm still reading Desert Heat by Kat Martin and I have started a new book today. The Lawman: Helltown (The Lawman)by Lyle Brandt.

Bonus, the heroine in the first book, Pack Challenge is Native American (well she's biracial but she identifies herself as native). The heroine in the second book, Go Fetch! which was the very first Laurenston book I ever read is Black. And the heroine in the third book of the series Here Kitty, Kitty! is a Latina. And in her Pride series the heroines are all likewise varied as well.

I'm about 400+ pages into Lover Enshrined and I'm actually enjoying it more than I anticipated. I'm liking the UF elements quite well and I'm liking the internal conflict between Phury and Cormia. Unlike external conflict, its my favourite type of conflict for romantic stories, but what's annoying me is Ward's use of the BIG MISUNDERSTANDING (a plot devise which I HATE) to drive the conflict between the two. Cultural differences and their own individual demons aside, I wish these two would TALK already and stop making stupid assumptions about each other. Arghhh!

I can honestly say this is one of those few books where I have no complaints. So far it's a five star novel in my opinion.
So if anyone's looking for Historical Romances, I recommend checking it out.
Best Wishes!

I plan on reading Ruth Ann Nordin, Stacy. She has quite a few marriage of convenience stories, and I love those. I'm glad you love it.

Yes I'm really enjoying it. I love her writing style.
Best Wishes!

I just finished a BWWM interracial, A Friend and A Lover by Tressie Lockwood. I enjoyed it. I'd recommend it to readers who are looking for a book that's not erotic, but is steamy. The hero's British, and quite a sweet guy.
Thanks to my Kindle, I read three short romances today: A Friend and a Lover as mentioned above, Come To Me by LaVerne Thompson, and Starstruck Hunter by Michelle Lauren. I enjoyed them all very much. If you like your books more erotic, I definitely recommend Starstruck Hunter. It's also very awesome sci-fi/paranormal. Come to Me was intensely romantic. Great job, ladies.

Oh hey, Danielle, you got your Kindle? How are you liking it?

I love it! There are so many really cool free books that I have downloaded (lots of classics that I want to read, and fairy tales, folklore, etc.). And I transferred my enormous stack of interracial ebooks to it, and I'm knocking them out. This Kindle is definitely paying for itself.

Oh! I totally missed Jon posting here. Jon, if you're still reading I'm gently nudging and cheering on your TV series because the teaser looked awesome! I started the first book in the Fixer series and already love it. Keep up the awesome work! I'll have to grab the new fixer book and the reprints when they're available. Need to add my keepers to my bookshelf. :-)
Danielle, congrats on your new kindle! I forgot to come back and post my thoughts on Beyond the Rain for you. I think you'll like it! It got a bit smexy for me at some parts when I wanted action but other than that, it's an awesome read. Jess Granger has an amazing world she's created and it's got all the goodie techie and future bits I like in my SF reading. I recommend it! Her next one deals with a character who I came to love very quickly when he was introduced and I'm dying to read his story for the next book (can't say much because it's a bit of a spoiler). Definitely pick it up if you can, Danielle!

P.S. Just recently finished The Iron King and it was AWESOME. LOVED it! I'm bummed because I have to wait for August for the next installment. And now I have a new book hero crush. The winter prince, Ash. Le sigh. I think he may qualify for a dangerous hero, too. :-)
Now I'm reading Chloe Neill's Firespell and continuing the first in the Fixer Files as well Frost on My Window by Angela Weaver.

I've started Tempting Faith by Crystal Hubbard. I started to read it once before, but had to put it on hold. It's pretty good so far.

Strangely, it's off to a bit of a slow start which is unusual for a Kinsale novel. I have faith though that it will pick up soon enough.
J, if you love soap opera-esque drama then you should love Jackie Collins. Her novels fall outside the normal boundaries of a typical, mainstream romance but there's always a central love story of some kind. Not always a HEA though.
I haven't read one of her books in years. Hope you enjoy!

I'm reading Madhouse by Rob Thurman. This is definitely one of my all-time favorite urban fantasy series."
So far, I'm really enjoying The Mercenary. I'm off from work today and hope to finish it.
