What are you currently reading 2010

I'm reading Touch the Dark by Karen Chance. Very much urban fantasy. I'm loving it so far. It's like an action movie. Very vivid.

I'm finally getting to Jon F. Merz's action sci-fi suspense thriller and am loving it. It's keeping me in suspense and I wish I had more time to read it!
Also reading Darkship Thieves which is a bit of a drudge (the MC is kind of grating) but I like the world building and setting.
Also reading a bit from Philip K Dick's Volume I of stories. Lots of goodies in there I haven't read including his only contemporary fantasy story. :-)

Oh I so want to read the one with the two assassins pairing off, Rae. I look forward to your reviews on these books.

Yeah it does. I figured I'd read the book first then go and see the movie to compare. I love doing that.

I think you'd really like it, Danielle. It's fast paced and the characters are pretty well written. It's right up your alley! I will be sure to post my thoughts after I finish it. :-)
Looking for to your thoughts on Dear John, Jessica.

Great, Rae. I will try to prder my Kindle next week sometime. So, that's one I'll be buying for my brand new baby!

BTW, there's a movie out already? And with Tatum Channing? Is that the young man from Fighting? If so, OMFG! That kid is so yummy.

Yes, he's the one who will possibly tempt me to watch another Nicholas Sparks movie, although I loved A Walk to Remember. I don't go for the tearjerker movies.

You and me both. I read Nights in Rodanthe back when it came out in 2002 .... I think. I liked it, but I didn't bother to go see the movie. Nicholas is just too much for me right now with all his romantic tragedies. I'll go see Dear John though because that Tatum Channing guy sure is fine to look at.

Channing Tatum is a guy I could look at all day. And then he starts talking in that silky voice....Sigh!

So far I'm enjoying the book quite well. Trying to make myself continually put it down and do other things.. taking my time with this one so I can fully enjoy it for all it's worth. Can't wait to see the movie but refuse to watch it till I'm done reading the book that way I can compare and drool all at the same time... :P

Today, I've started Killer Dreams by Iris Johansen. I haven't read one of her books in a long time. So far the book is holding my attention.I will be reading a few pages, before I go to bed.

Just finished, "Dear John", I must say I truly did enjoy that book. Couldn't put it down. :D Currently re-reading, "A million little pieces" by James Frey.

By the way, I've had a Million Little Pieces on my tbr for ages, but ever since Frey lied about his autobiography I just haven't had the motivation to pick up any of his books. Do let us know what you think once you're finished.

I've read a million little pieces before and it's a really good book even if he did lie. Dear John...MAJOR SPOILERS!!!
As for Dear John, the happy ending is perceived differently by everyone based on the outcome. You truly would have to read it to understand what I mean by that one.. in my opinion I was on the fence with that one.. on one hand yeah it could be a happy ending based on how they were at that last moment on the very last page of the book on the other hand.. how depressing... are you serious? Where's my happy ending? How could it be? It's not supposed to end this way? Then again, this ending is more believable as far as reality goes but story wise.. this sucks. No fair, I want the fairy tale not the reality version. Probably doesn't help much as far as answering your question but might lead you to read it none the less. :D
J, lol sorry but I didn't read your MAJOR SPOILERS :). Just tell if there's a happy ending or not. Since we're talking about Nick Sparks here, I'm guessing probbaly not, but he has been known to surprise his audience a time or two.

To answer it would give away the ending thus the major spoilers note. For me, it was a 50/50 on the happy ending.. on one hand a no and on the other eh, a so so. In all sense judging by what happened I'm going to say no to the happy ending but that's typical Nicholas Sparks.

I heard from another GR friend that there is no HEA too. So I'm avoiding the movie. And the book. LOL. That is a really good trailer though.

OK, thx 2 u both. My emotions r still too volatile after my dad's death so am gonna avoid this one 4 a while. i'll prolly catch the movie tho - can deal more with sadness on film than in books.

I agree, that is a good trailer but I'll probably pass on it for the same reason, NU.
Davina, sorry to hear about your father's passing. My condolences.

Thanks Rae, it's been a few months, but my emotions are still raw. I have to be very careful what I watch and or read otherwise I could very easily sink into a depression and I can't afford that now.

I have a huge list of books I want to read. As I finish one, I review the list to see what I'm in the mood for. Right now, I'm trying to finish two books that I've picked up and put down numerous times. I've just decided to finish them before I move forward. And Davina, condolences.
I am reading VICTORY STALLION by Kate Hill. It is shapeshifter/IR(WM/BW) story. He can shift into centuar with wing,(Halfman/halfhorse). I like it so far it is good and sex scene not bad. This book is part of series. She has written 5 book for this series: DREAM STALLION, CAPTIVE STALLION, HIGHLAND STALLION, WINTER STALLION,(not read yet)and VICTORY STALLION.

I'm reading Awaken Me Darkly by Gena Showalter, I hope to finish it tonight. My copy of Shadow Blade by Seressia Glass arrived today. I'm not sure if I'll start that next or take a break from the pnr/ urban fantasy genre's for a while.

I received Marie Rochelle's Taken by Storm yesterday. I've never tried this author before, the reviews on here and on Amazon are on either extreme so I decided to start with this book first just to form my own opinions. Before I read that one though, I've committed to the first 4 books in Joey Hill's Nature of Desire series. Apparently these novels contain hardcore BDSM (with a female Dom and a male sub -- how about that :), but are very well written and emotional. Natural Law, the book I'm most looking forward to, got rave reviews from everyone I know. After that it's back to Ward with Lover Unbound, Enshrined and Avenged. The Kate Hill series sounds intriguing. A man who turns into a centaur and with wings too? lol Boy, that paints a really funny picture, but I like centaurs (I'm one of them) so I'll probably look into this book. Doesn't hurt its IR either. Are all of them? And do you have to read the series in order or can the books stand alone?

Michelle, I liked Awaken Me Darkly.
I'm reading Bad Blood by LA Banks. It's about a woman who is a werewolf, but being one is very complicated in her world. The heroine is half white/half black, and the hero is 3/4 Native American and 1/4 Black. He's a hottie. I'm enjoying it.

Finished Awaken Me Darkly, and really enjoyed it. That's good to know about Bad Blood! I have that one, but have been putting off reading it because I could never really get into Minion. I'll have to move it up in my TBR pile.

Yeah I was so disappointed with the two vampire huntress books. This is much better although I can't say it's going to be a favorite. I'm glad you liked AMD. Gena Showalter is a favorite of mine.

Oh! I'm hearing good things about the L.A. Banks werewolf series. I'm looking forward to reading that. The storylines sound really interesting.
After finishing (and loving!) Parallax, I'm on a Jon F. Merz high so I'm diving into his Fixer Files. Sometime ago he offered up all the books in one ebook package and I grabbed it. So far it's pretty good.
I'm also reading Beyond the Rain by Jess Granger since I'm in a real sci-fi/romance/actiony mood and I'm enjoying it so far.
Plus I'm listening to Ursula K. Le Guin's Gifts on audiobook which is the first of a trilogy.
Fun stuff!

Rae I'm so glad you enjoyed Parallax. That's one of the first books I'm going to download when I order my kindle. I have three of the Fixer books in my library.
I can't wait to see what you think of Beyond the Rain. I own that one, too.

If you want it in other formats before hand, I believe Jon Merz has it in other formats. Just FYI in case you were wondering. :-) I'm looking forward to seeing your thoughts on it when you check it out.
Oh! And the Fixer files too. I'd like to know what you think of those. I saw the teaser for the upcoming tv show and I hope it comes out soon. Looks really good.
Beyond the Rain sounded good, doesn't it? Heard a lot of nice buzz about it being a nice forerunner for more SFR. :-D I hope I get more time to dive into it because the opening was great.

Wow, I didn't know they were making a show based on the Fixer books.
I see that it's 0.99$ in Kindle, so that will work for me. I'll be ordering my Kindle late this week, hopefully.
I ended up enjoying Bad Blood, Rae. I think you might like it.

Gah! I just noticed I repeated myself in the same sentence. Sorry about that lol. I shouldn't post after staying up late with little sleep. :-)
Yeah, I just found out myself when I was perusing his site. It's pretty cool. I hope they can bring it to the tv networks or at least stream it as a web series. I'd love that.
Sounds good! There are some free Kindle books that keep popping up so I'm sure it'll fill up with goodies in no time. :-D
Oh good! I'll probably move BB up my TBR list!

You should see my typos, LOL. They're multiplying.Wow, I just searched that trailer on Youtube and it looked awesome, Rae! I have to find that series now, LOL.

I have a brain/keyboard disconnect when I post on here. It's really sad sometimes. Yes, I have seen a lot of freebies and really cheap books available on Kindle. I think I will be in trouble!

Michelle, The Mercenary seems to get bad reviews, but I loved that book.
I'm reading Madhouse by Rob Thurman. This is definitely one of my all-time favorite urban fantasy series.

I'll start.
Lately I've been in the mood for a spicier read so I picked up Lora Leigh's Nauti Boy two days ago. I should be finished with it later today. Only have the epilogue left.
This is the first book in Leigh's Nauti series and so far my least favourite. I read Nauti Nights prior to this and enjoyed it a lot more even though it bordered on pornographic. Not particularly romantic, I agree, but hey we're talking about Lora Leigh here. She incorporates a good romance into most of her books when she's inspired, but she has her moments when she truly drops the ball. NN was simply better for me because the hero realised from the getgo that when it comes to the woman you love sharing is not an option.
As many of you know, I'm not a fan of menage-a-trois, and there was a bit of that going on in Nauti Boy. It didn't get too far, though (there was no sex with the other men). Nevertheless, I would've liked the book a lot better without it. It certainly had more meat on its bones than Nauti Nights, but the menage thing turned me off. In fairness, I must say I knew it was there going in, but I hate reading series books out of order so I decided to grit my teeth and get through this one. Thankfully, the other books are menage-free.
If you're into romantica type stories, don't mind the above mentioned activity as well as anal play (which is recurrent throughout the series), this book is okay.
So what about the rest of you?
