I sure do Dhes! it seems like it has 2 or 3 stories on the book (im not sure-its an e-book) but the first one looks very interesting WWII era.

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish | 8001 comments I'm heading off to Target to buy Just Like Heaven (Smythe-Smith Quartet #1) by Julia Quinn

If you haven't heard, it's the first book in a spin-off of Julia Quinn's Bridgerton series! The blurb -

Honoria Smythe-Smith is:
A) a really bad violinist
B) still miffed at being nicknamed "Bug" as a child
C) NOT in love with her older brother's best friend
D) all of the above

Marcus Holroyd is:
A) the Earl of Chatteris
B) regrettably prone to sprained ankles
C) NOT in love with his best friend's younger sister
D) all of the above

Together they:
A) eat quite a bit of chocolate cake
B) survive a deadly fever AND the world's worst musical performance
C) fall quite desperately in love

It's Julia Quinn at her best, so you KNOW the answer is...
D) all of the above

Katherine, I STRONGLY recommend you read Something Borrowed (Darcy & Rachel, #1) by Emily Giffin first. unless you have seen the movie already. I just know always you read books out of order. but this two are very connected.

Is it good Autumn? I have had it(the hardcover) a few years here on the shelf...bought it brand new....never read her before either.

message 3728: by Laura (new)

Laura Landon (lauralandon) | 108 comments Thanks, Heidi! I'll keep skimming Not Quite a Husband by Sherry Thomas when it boggs down.

message 3729: by UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish, Your Humble Servant (new)

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish | 8001 comments I liked Not Quite a Husband by Sherry Thomas but it's a harder book to read. It takes more thought than I usually like to give a book, and it was a strain to read at times.

Autumn, I was hoping to skim by and you wouldn't notice. LOL I'm halfway done with it. I just have a hard time with shallow heroines, I'm hoping she will improve soon. I wanted to see the movie but never did make it. I will try to do better in the future. :)

I'm glad to hear it. I liked that it wasn't a cookie cutter HR. It was more thought provoking than most books.

Laura Landon (lauralandon) | 108 comments I think that's why I enjoy Laura Kinsale. She's a harder read and more thought provoking than most. But you remember her characters a long time after you finish her books.

YES! I read my first Laura Kinsale book, Flowers from the Storm by Laura Kinsale and it was months ago, but I still remember it clearly.

message 3735: by Laura (new)

Laura Landon (lauralandon) | 108 comments I'm a Laura Kinsale fan! When you need another deep read, you might want to check out Prince of Midnight or Sieze the Fire. They're the ones that come to mind first. IMHO - For My Lady's Heart was probably the most difficult of all her books.

message 3736: by Heidi (new)

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish | 8001 comments I just finished When Beauty Tamed the Beast (Happily Ever Afters, #2) by Eloisa James and I know it's gotten some mixed reviews, but I loved it. There was something about Piers that brought out the protective female in me, and I just wanted to love him.

Yeah, he wouldn't have wanted it, and I'd have had to beat him over the head with his cane until he was bloody, but I'd be willing to do that if necessary.

"Tsk tsk" How like Katherine to go into mischief!! i had my radar ready!! LOL to be honest i liked "something blue" a lot better.. You dont have to put up with the spoiled Darcy in book #1.

Hmm.. I liked it ok.. i wasn't impressed or anything. I do however, like her writing. it mirrors Jodi Picoult in some aspects.

Finished

Nights of Fire by Laura Leone , and Slave to Sensation (Psy-Changeling #1) by Nalini Singh <-- this was crack to me!!! God i loved that book!! already ordered the entire series :P

starting It Had to Be You (Chicago Stars, #1) by Susan Elizabeth Phillips . Giving chick-lit chances to redeem themselves LOL!

HAHAAHH !! GOOD GIRL! ;) i really liked Happy Ever After (Bride Quartet, #4) by Nora Roberts The best of all 4 in the series!!

message 3747: by UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish, Your Humble Servant (new)

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish | 8001 comments Autumn, I'm shocked and appalled that you'd think I would read the series out of order. I read the first ones about a year ago, and now I'm finishing up so I can read the new spinoff novel, Just Like Heaven (Smythe-Smith Quartet, #1) by Julia Quinn

It was really good, but emotionally draining. It will likely be a bit before I can proceed with the series.

message 3749: by Melanie (new)

Melanie (melaina) | 638 comments I know what you mean! After CM and CH, I ended up reading light and fluffy books.. Took me a couple days to get over them, and I don't imagine myself rereading them for another year or two! Indigo Blue is a little easier though!

CA's other historicals are very good, and less emotionally draining! And you should definitely give Annie's Song a try if you haven't yet!

message 3750: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer (sadstrumpetjenny) I read The Shadow and the Star (Victorian Hearts, #2) by Laura Kinsale this weekend, which I really liked. My first Kinsale, def not my last.

I also finished All the Queen's Men (John Medina, #2) by Linda Howard , which has held up nicely, and Wicked Angel by Julia London , which I DNF. I am not a huge stickler for historical accuracy, but this one kind of drove me crazy with the liberties.
