I see you liked 'Mr McNabs' book, check out the reviews on amazon and goodreads for my current offering, 'The Day the Ravens Died' Timothy Pilgrim is as much my real name as Andy McNab is his[the author of fiction:] such as Bravo 2 Zero and exit wounds, I will admit though they are not bad reads, although the style gets a bit 'samey' after three or four, but that is down to the publishers and editors.

Hi Paul
yes I do like reading Andy Mcnab books. It was Andy Mcnab books that got me interested in reading after I got my Dyslexica sorted out and yes they can get like same stories but as I dont read them one after the other I'm not to worried. I have many other authors that I like to read While I'm waiting for the next Andy Mcnab book to come out then I get it for birthday or Christmas.
All the best your bookwarm friend nick

Hi Nick, I wasn't knocking the books, I was having a winge at the editors, I am certain it is the publisher saying, 'more of the same' which is why I am indipendent! A good editor will make a good book great, a corporate editor will make a good book just another 'good' book, if you get what I mean. It is difficult to put into words, but the editors for the big boys tend to edit the 'passion' out of the writing, it really bugs me!
Anyway, congratulations on beating Dyslexia, that is one hell of an achievement, I'll bet it was a long time before you got any help from teachers, these days they are more interested in performance tables than teaching, it's the system rather than the person. There I go again on my soap box, I ought to be grumpy old man rather than oldgeezer!
In case you wondered, I don't know 'Andy McNab' I'm too old but I do know people who know him, if you see what I mean, I do know the guy who did the tele programn, 'The Real Bravo 2 Zero' he's one hell of a guy, I can't say the same for the RSM in B2Z. A very tough man for sure, I knew him when he was a trooper, didn't like him then either. Each to their own, to give you an idea how old I am, if I hadn't had an 'accident' a couple of years before I'd most likely have been in the chopper which went in during the Falklands war, killing a lot of my mates.
Take a peek at 'Ravens' just google in 'The day the ravens died' and click on the 'goodreads' reviews.
Gotta go, still things to do before bed, byeee.

Hi Paul (old geezer on soap box)
Yes I understand full what you mean that the books and the editors. I hope once I have finished writing my that I get a editor to make it into a great book LOL. I dont want to sound childish but my Andy Mcnab books have a special place on my book shelves as they broke my feer of reading. I was 27 when I get my Dyslexica sorted out while I was as my local college doing and IT COURSE.
I will search google The day the ravens died.
All the best, Nick

So well done again :-)

Thanks Sam, Yes it was a hard slog as I found it very hard to talk to people about it too. What makes it feel worse is people treat you like you are stupid. Having cerebral Palsy too they just talk to me some one out of a funny farm. I get the last laugh though when they ask me what I like to do? and when I tell them the sort of books and authors I like to read and all the other things I do. It Like I'v punched them in stomuch as they rock back on their heels. Then I go for the knock-out blow when I tell them that I am writing a book after that they dont know how to speak it like they loose the power to talk LOL.
Terry Pratchett is one authors books I cant get into. I can understand want your friend has gone through and over come.
Nick

Doubley well done mate. Years ago, a young friend of mine, who had similar problems, became interested in my butterflies and moths, borrowed a book on them. Basically he beat it himself, with, I have to admit, not much help from me. I think you have the key, find something you really like, and build on that. I'd pat you on the back for beating that but I can't reach, so give yourself a big pat on the back from me. Well done!!!
