"No...It was immature, but that's the way I feel." She flipped her hair over her shoulder."There was only ever one Slytherin I could stand."
Nick raised one eyebrow slightly, glad she'd at least acknowledged it wasn't really the teacher-ish thing to do. "And that would be?"
"Why would it matter? He's dead, has been for a while now." She stood up and headed for the door."Don't you find it strange that a Gryffindor should become a Potions Master when most of them are men and most of them are Slytherin?" She shrugged. "Maybe it's just me."
Nick shrugged. "It is a little different. But the appointment makes sense. You're good at it." He felt a prickling of curiosity at her cryptic comment but brushed it away. He took a few steps closer. "If anything else happens to you, threats, mysterious messages, I want to hear about it."
"Sure, as does the rest of the Order. If I hear anything, anything at all from Delphini, I'll make sure you know too." She nodded curtly and closed the door.
Nick's shoulders slumped slightly and he turned to go back to his desk. He sat down and picked up his book, unable to focus. I didn't mean it that way.
Caleb rubbed his head covertly, feeling a bit like he was going to pass out. Had he eaten anything at lunch? He didn't remember. But in any case, his head was killing him and he wanted nothing more than to lie down before astronomy. "Hey, guys," he said. "I don't mean to ditch you or anything, but I think I'm going to go back in."
Avery nodded curtly. "Alright. Don't feel bad about it," he said.

"Ok... Bye, Caleb!" Medea said. She smiled at him a little sadly. Dang. Well, maybe I can get them to talk some other time. Though it isn't any of my business.
((Aw, what's wrong with him?))

((He has a headache, I think. I'm here for one second... I'm going to see Sorcerers' Apprentice.))
"Bye, Medea," Caleb said, smiling faintly. "Bye Avery." He walked off the pitch, feeling a little unsteady as his head throbbed.
Avery resisted the urge to let out a breath of relief.

((JESSICA!!! I haven't seen that movie.))
Medea sighed, but smiled at Avery and Iris. "Well, it's just us three now! What should we do?"

((Hi!!))
Avery laughed. "Well, we could go up to the stands and see how high it looks."
Caleb ran his hand through his hair again, trying to block out the pain and dizziness that was threatening to overtake him. He started down the dark staircase and started tripping over something. Oh. Someone. Whoops. He sort of crashed into the person's shoulder. "Ah! Sorry!"

Caleb grabbed the rod that ran along the stairway to steady himself. He forced a smile. "Nah, I'm good."
((LITTLEDOLPHIN!!!))
Caleb let out a sigh. "That obvious, huh? And-" he winced, blinking to clear his vision. "It's not just you, it's ... habit."

((I'm doing pretty well, thanks. You?))
Caleb shrugged. "Probably. Or I'm bad at hiding it. Or both." He tilted his head slightly to one side and winced again, straightening it. "What do you mean?"

((Ahh. Hm, well we'd better not pull an early-morning bit again, then. *grin*))
Caleb shrugged slightly. "Just my head, it'll be okay if I just leave it. It might've been a combination of allergies and my head's normal temperamental qualities. And lack of eating. Take your pick, I guess. Sorry, rambling."

((It was fun! I'm not sure if I can go that late. I need some sleep.))
Caleb nodded very minutely. "Alright. Well, I'm not really hungry right now." He shrugged slightly, letting out a breath and massaging one temple. "It feels like I haven't seen you in a while, but I guess it wasn't that long." He gave her a slightly teasing smile. "So how were the last couple hours?"

"It feels like I haven't seen you in a while, but I guess it wasn't that long." He gave her a slightly teasing smile. "So how were the last couple hours?"
((Probably not. I need to be alive tomorrow.))
Caleb gave her a slightly concerned look, but answered her question. "Well, my brother was pretending to get along with me to appease Medea, but he still hates me just as much to my knowledge." He shrugged. "I'll keep trying, though. We got to see the Quidditch Pitch."

((...partially. Maybe?))
Caleb smiled. "He likes her, I can tell. I think he'll be nice to her at least. He just hates me... and sort of Slytherins in general, but not to the same degree." He nodded. "It was cool. It'll be fun to see games there."

"Well, he hates Slytherins because some of them were mean to our mum while she was in school, but then so were people from other houses, and she had friends in Slytherin, too." Caleb shrugged, not quite understanding his brother's logic. "And... I guess... he sort of thinks it was my fault mum's in the hospital. In the coma. Sometimes I think so, too." He looked up, eyes slightly wide. "Sorry, rambling again."
((No, I don't think I'm a zombie. I think I'm alright... Hm...
And PLEASE don't alert the police. I've worked too hard to stay under the radar for that to happen now. *puppy eyes*))
Caleb shrugged slightly, a large portion of the normal cheer dropping out of his body language. "Well... We were living in the states over the summer, in Texas, actually, and they'd had a longer dry spell than normal, and there was a wildfire... And it got our house." His voice shook a little, but he clenched his fist. "My mum and my dad and Avery all got out, but I got caught inside, and my mum ran back in." He blinked back the images that flashed in his mind. "And then right as we were about to get out... a big piece of the ceiling fell on her."

((Uhm... About that.))
Caleb felt unexpected tears prick at his eyes and he wiped them away roughly, forcing a smile. "Thanks for the thought," he said, his voice very quiet. There was a moment of silence, then he shook his head. "No. There... there was a lot of damage, some too severe for even magic. It's been over two months now."

((Haha. Well, according to my friend I have broken into the Guggenheim twice. Which I don't know how to explain, since I'm not all that sneaky. But there you are.))
Caleb shook his head minutely. "You don't need to be sorry," he said, his voice still small. "Like you said, you didn't know, and it wasn't you that upset me." He nodded slightly, closing his eyes for longer than a blink as he remembered the happier time earlier that awful day. His eyes opened again. "Thank you. I'm sorry for that, no one should have to. But thank you."

((... please don't.))
Caleb shrugged, trying to figure out how to stall the conversation. Lyra was the only person he felt like he could really just talk to. Medea was nice, but Lyra was different. Special. "I don't really have anywhere to be," he said hesitantly, then smiled very slightly with a questioning edge. "If I'm not bothering you too terribly, I wouldn't mind hanging around."

((He's just so nice...))
Caleb nodded, grateful she didn't seem irritated. "That sounds good. You got sick?"

((Yeah... He's going to be really sad.))
Caleb's eyes widened as he followed her. "Wow. That's... intense. Are you alright now?"
((Haha. Nice explanation, Lyra.))

((Yeah, I know. *laugh* Aw... Mhm...))
Caleb nodded slightly again. "Hm. Well, that would've been really frightening, I'm glad you're okay for the most part."

((Alright...))
Caleb shrugged noncommittally. "A bit." He followed her into the room, glancing around.

Professor Hayden turned a slightly surprised look on Professor Prince. "Was that really necessary?"
