((...riiight, Akrisios... PUDDING!))
Professor Hayden shrugged slightly. "It was what I was best at, besides Charms, and I enjoy it." He grinned. "Plus it's fun to teach."
Professor Hayden shrugged slightly. "It was what I was best at, besides Charms, and I enjoy it." He grinned. "Plus it's fun to teach."
Professor Hayden smiled apologetically. "Sorry about that." He shrugged. "You guys have only had a couple of classes. It gets to be cooler later on."
((Yay!!!))
Professor Hayden grinned. "The usual. 'Whoa, really? A wizard?' Amazement, disbelief, joy. Go to Diagon Alley. 'Wow! They really have all that cliche wizard stuff!' Buy said cliche items. Wait for September first. 'Cool, this castle is huge!' Get sorted. Go to classes. Face some bullies, make some friends, do some homework, learn some magic."

((Yours!))
Professor Prince grasped a piece of parchment in trembling, white knuckles. She used the same knuckles to tap softly upon Professor Hayden's door. She bit her lip. It was an awkward hour, nearing supper but also the end of classes and a short grading period. Her stomach churned as she recalled her absence from classes this past day. Things were not well.

Professor Hayden laughed slightly. "No, not drunk. Just a little sleep-deprived and full of chocolate." He gave her a sympathetic look. "It-" a very quiet knock came at the door. "Come in."
((Aw... Poor Professor Prince...))
((Aw... Poor Professor Prince...))
"Sorry, that was to clean up the glass, not to spell you with," Hayden said teasingly. He noted her jump and slightly off expression with curiosity. "But if it makes you feel better." He pulled out his wand and held it loosely at his side.
Aurelian cleared her throat as she slipped into the Defense Against the Dark Arts classroom, her eyes downcast."Professor Hayden! There's news that-" When she looked up, she almost dropped her information. "Ah...Miss Lupin. What a-uh-pleasant surprise."
((Lol, boredom produces a little Pudding spider popping in for a bit.))
((Lol, boredom produces a little Pudding spider popping in for a bit.))
Professor Hayden slid off his desk and blinked. "Professor Prince. It's nice to see you." Anxiety crept into the corners of his mind. It wasn't too easy to get Professor Prince this rattled.
((Oh, I am sure. And he was never really a rule-follower himself... And Akrisios was a bit of a jerkish being in Hayden's class. So probably.))
Aurelian glanced at the wand held loosely in Professor Hayden's grip. She sighed."I suppose this is a bad time, I didn't think Lyra would be one to attend a detention, sorry. I mean receive a detention. And it has nothing to do with you honey, at least not directly." She walked forward a few, brisk steps."Courtesy of Courier, you may want to give it a look. Things are bad, Nicholas."
((Oh, right. Never. *facepalm*))
Professor Hayden slipped his wand back into his pocket and stepped next to Lyra. "Alright, calm down. Lyra isn't here for detention. I'll read the letter, and if it concerns you, Lyra, I'll tell you."
Professor Hayden slipped his wand back into his pocket and stepped next to Lyra. "Alright, calm down. Lyra isn't here for detention. I'll read the letter, and if it concerns you, Lyra, I'll tell you."
Aurelian, instead of handing the letter to Professor Hayden, placed it on his desk."I received a Howler."She grimaced."I did read yours...Just to make sure it wasn't the same. I didn't want to give you a fright during the middle of an exam or et cetera." She clasped her hands together and stepped back."It has to do with the Ministry and the Daily Prophet. They are canceling the paper until further notice. It seems a group of young muggles, a half-blood, and two-"She glanced at Lyra and looked quickly at the floor."Muggleborns were attacked...recently. Evidently the Ministry does not want to panic any witches or wizards about the possibly of a new Dark Lord. They would not let word be released about the breach on Hogwarts."
((Here still!))
Professor Hayden blinked, not sure how he felt about her reading mail for him. But he brushed it off and frowned slightly as the news came faster. "I see." He let out a breath and fingered the letter. "Thank you for informing me."

Nick let out another breath, knowing that his earlier feelings of anxiety were justified. "They just don't want the school to appear vulnerable," he said. "Parents would panic and take their children out, and then the children would be at risk and spread out and Hogwarts would be empty."
She looked down."Your welcome. But-uh...The Ministry is not taking proper precautions. They are angry...With the Order, I mean. My Howler-They do not wish for us to intervene." She glanced around the room."Where's Elixir?" She blinked."Lyra, I said that it does not directly involve you, because it doesn't. It involves you in the sense that it is your life as well as the lives of others of impure blood, like Professor Hayden and I. They are gambling with lives that do not belong to them however highly they view themselves."

Nick bit the inside of his cheek. "Of course they don't." He sighed with a very slight smile. "She's off being... Elixir. She'll come back when she wants attention." With a small noise of disgust, he brought his mind back to the issue at hand. "And they do view themselves very highly." He looked down at Lyra. "I think it'd only be safe at night if you had a Professor with you. Students shouldn't be at risk like that."
Aurelian gave a nervous laugh."They do indeed. The Prophet's gone mad, they actually released tomorrow's news today if that makes any sense. The article about the French incident is front page. The Ministry is fuming, I'm sure they're all over Headmaster Volos about the breach." She wet her lips."It should be safe enough, the Headmaster and a few other hand-chosen professors went with him to secure the area." Her voice was full of scorn with hand-chosen."I'm not sure why Professor Hayden or myself, or even the groundskeeper were not among them."
Aurelian shrugged."You shouldn't be out of your common room after nine anyway, so it should be safe."

Professor Hayden shrugged. "I'd rather be in the castle to protect it and the students if needs be, anyway." He nodded. "Madd-er you mean." He looked at Lyra. "Yes, I do. Elixir. She's about this high-" he held his hand up about a foot and a half from the ground- "and incredibly full of herself." He raised an eyebrow. "Even if the risk is death?"
((Lol...Wow.))
Aurelian sighed."I suppose that's about it. I guess I should find something to do...Like actually attend my class or post something." She glanced nervously at the door."But, I guess when things come up...Oh! Have you been getting any strange mail lately or...Things written places?"

((Alright. Sorry, no mental capacity for deductive reasoning at the mo'.))
Nick paused for a moment, thinking. "Not that I can think of. Why, have you?"

((Thank you. I appreciate your understanding. Gah. Now I know I'm going insane. I just accidentally mixed up Nick with the character I'm writing in my story right now. Ouch.
*cough*))
"Right." Nick gave her a slightly suspicious look, then shrugged easily. "Okay. Well, if you were, you could talk to me about it."

Nick shot Lyra a flat look, but his eyes held incredulity and slight amusement. And slight irritation, but mostly incredulity and amusement.
Aurelian swallowed and looked at Lyra."On one of the tables in my classroom someone used a spell to engrave something into it...um..."She glanced at Lyra again."And it kind of said something about the end of my career...And my owl has been receiving death threats. Not for him, of course. And he was hexed. As my sudden curiosity into the whereabouts of your cat."
Nick's eyes widened. "Death threats against pets?" He bit the inside of his cheek again before responding. "That's serious stuff. Hopefully Elixir is okay..." He stopped, looking at Aurelian, his head tilted just slightly to one side. "Are you okay?"
Nick turned back to Lyra with an interested expression. "Really?"
((Alright, I have to go. At this point I'll probably manage to squeeze in five or less hours of sleep before I must be up and doing chores... Ouch. So, so long and thanks for all the fish. *hands out dolphin statuettes*))

((Aww, cool statue, nighty nite.))
Aurelian threw up her hands,"Not pet death threats, that I'm aware of. But...Um...I didn't know students knew about my, um, past. Anyway. Who? I turned the objects in question over to the Headmaster and he assured me they'd be sorted through...But he wouldn't view the desk..."She paled slightly."I checked all of the children that sit there...But all of them are well-off students, two received O's on their O.W.L.s. Oh, Lyra-"She cleared her throat."Miss Lupin, if you know..."

Aurelian straightened."Ah, yes. I believe I've had enough for today, good thing my classes are all in the morning toward late afternoon. I guess I'll probably head home."
((Ugh, just be happy I'm acknowledging it now. By the way, I'm happy you remembered it/reread it. It would have been sad not to use it.))
((I'll have to make sure to be detailed-ish, more detailed than usual. It shall be exciting, and fun for Akrisios...))
((That's fine, if that's what you want to do. People are going to think we're nuts to begin with, why not take it the whole nine yards? Jk, it doesn't seem too outrageous.))
((So I am going to be gone for a week, jtlyk, so... lol. I'll get on if I can, but I don't have much hope for that. So, see ya in a week! ;D _))
((Thanks.
Oh, it was just grand. I think it was five. Maybe closer to four and a half, but it was good.))

((Haha! It's okay. At my Youth Conference, I got about four hours of sleep, and that day we did a three hour service project and a two hour hike, so I'm good. It was fun. *giggling*))
Akrisios scratched absently at his arm."Well, it shouldn't be too long before supper and it's getting kind of late." He turned and began to head toward the stairs leading out of the dungeons."I'll get you to the table before everyone is seated. I won't be attending dinner and I heard that the Headmaster has fallen strangely ill, so someone else will speak before meals for a few days."
((Wink, wink.))
