poor you!!
But you are making headway in reading so now you are set up for a couple of slow months!!
I am on book 15, Bone Magic. Barbsis, I read Blue Bloods and liked it but thought it was a little slow for the first half. Let me know what you think of it.
I didn't get any reading done yesterday or today. ugh better get a move on. I was doing so good. But 2 days out ruined that. Well maybe tonight. Have to get though a library book. Probably will not be a fast read but I'm sure going to try my best so I can get back to my own books again.
Darcy wrote: "Susan, those are good ones. Plus the best thing is that the author has finished the series so it is one you can read all at once and get a conclusion and not be left hanging."I have the fourth one coming, so I will have read all four here soon.

I have to put Sworn to Silence on hold again, I just got it haven't had a chance to read it and it's requested by someone else. So I have to take it back to the library.
I've just finished book 5- which was a really quick read but very moving. It was Blue Sky July by Nia Wyn. It was a real tear jerker in parts. It was about a little boy with severe cerebal palsy and certain parts were really moving. I went to the library again tonight and picked a reserved book. I need to read the books at home really- but can't resist picking new books up at the library.
I'm using a diary as my book journal this year- so I have put a note each month to remind me how many books I need to have read to be on track. I'm not stressing about being on track- but I will know whether I am or not!
I just finished book #6 which was Kiss of Crimson by Lara Adrian. It was a real page turner and I have a couple more books from the series in my house.Kim-I just picked up another book from the library too and I have the endless pile at home. I get where you are coming from :)
I just finished book 6 as well. It was
. Now I have to decide what to read next. Sometimes starting a new book is the hardest process.

I'm keeping track of my 2010 reads in 3 places: 1)here in the 144 thread 2)on my livejournal account, and 3)in my pretty pink "Book Journal", which is a 3-ring binder notebook where I keep lists of all the books I want to read by certain authors (divided alphabetically by author last name), more lists of things I want to read, series to try, books I read in 2008, 2009, and now 2010. All kinds of stuff. I've had a bit of a hard time getting it organized b/c I have SOO many lists going, but I'm getting there. In the pink journal, I'm recording # of pages, date started, date finished, and whether it was my own book or a library book for every book that I complete this year.
I'm going to do Three Weeks to Say Goodbye on audiobook. I'm driving to Chicago and back on Thursday so I'll start it then!
Catherine wrote: "I'm going to do Three Weeks to Say Goodbye on audiobook. I'm driving to Chicago and back on Thursday so I'll start it then!"Hope you enjoy it Catherine! I loved it!
I'm on my 5th, just a few chapters into The Writing Class. I love it so far, it's SO funny!!
That's another one in my TBR pile. Glad to hear it's funny. I'll save it to read after something really serious!
Catherine, I just finished Three Weeks to Say Goodbye like 3 min. ago. I really enjoyed it and there was one part in it that I personally know what they were feeling.
Ooh, thanks for letting me know that, Lisa. When I'm done with it you can tell me more if you want to!
Darcy wrote: "BJ don't you hate it when you get hooked on a series and the library has the audacity to only have the first one and not the others, forcing you to buy them???? LOLI feel like then as long as I a..."
Even worse - when they have the second book in a series but not the first! *LOL* I actually bought the first book in a series and donated it to my library - after I read it, of course - to alleviate this exact problem!
I guess I will get it a try. I like to take my time and enjoy the book I am reading, so I really don't know if I will make, but if I do .... yeah for me. LOLI am on #4 Divine Misdemeanor.
This year I just picked up a pretty diary from our 'pound' shop. I usually use a pretty journal type book which lasts a couple of years. The last one was full- so I decided to try a diary this year. Not sure whether it looks so neat as the journal- but I can see how many books have been read that week at a glance.
144 books shall be a joy to read. I am not sure how or where to amend my list of books I Have read. I will post what books i have read since the first of the year here for now. Are young adult books allowed and how do I know if a book is considered a children's book or a young adult book as some youth books I have read are very lengthy and well written and should not be over looked.I am not a great one for chatting but enjoy a good challenge especially when it involves books.Playing For The Ashes by Elizabeth George
Chosen to die By Lisa Jackson
I think the challenge is going to be too easy for me now. I got laid off from work last Friday. I have always been a heavy reader. I don't watch too much tv. I probably need to look into a few more hobbies. We are moving next month so perhaps that will give me more to do. I started my 8th book last night.
Vanessa wrote: I think the challenge is going to be too easy for me now. I got laid off from work last Friday....Vanessa, I totally know where you are coming from as I have been laid off for the last 6 months. I know I read a lot, but now I read a lot more, probably the only good thing, but I would give up that time to go back to work. LOL Never thought I would say that.
I'm in school, plus I'm taking extra classes, and I'm in bowling, so I have very little time to read. I read fast, though , so I've already beat the 12 a month this month. I read up to 15 books at a time, too.
Fw2books wrote: 1911280 Finished Nalini Singh's Caressed by Ice... I am enjoying her Psy/Changeling world and even reading them out of order you can easily follow the series. This is one of my favorite series. I really like the whole world the books are set in. It is always great fun to see if you can guess where they are going with some of the characters.

To get an idea of what people are counting as children there is a thread about childrens book in the general discussio section
Vanessa-I am sorry to hear about loosing your job and i hope that changes for you soon. I am in the same boat

Click the heading, and then click "New Topic" and make yourself a folder. You can keep track of the books you've read in whatever manner works best for you. You could make one long list and keep adding to it, or you can divide yours by month, or whatever you like. Hope that helps, and if you have any questions, just ask!!
I'm a journal/diary lover too. I'm bad keeping a regular journal/diary except for my book one. I'm trying to do better this year. But the journal I used in the past is the one that is spiral that B&N has I believe they have 2 or 3 sizes. I used the middle one. It's good if you want to do it for more than one year. I start looking early for my next book journal. I had 2 different ones this year but decided on the spiral one that is like the levengers type that you can take the pages in and out. I bought it at staplers and you can add more pages to it. It's brown and has a place for pen or pencil. I do title, author, date finished, trade,hc,pb, # of pages, if it's a library book or a DL also first line in the book, That is all in pen then pencil I write any comments or alittle bit about the book under that. At the top of the page I put book # and month on one side and year total on the other side. I had room for this year in last year's book but I needed a change because I was getting behind in last year's book so thought a new book would help. As for journal/diaries I'm always looking for something different or new and I'm usually always buying something different.
Donnajo, are you talking about the Piccadilly Wire-O journals from Barnes and Noble? Like this one? I LOOOOVE these journals. They are very reasonably priced, they come in the 3 sizes, they have really awesome designs on the cover, and the cover is hardback so that you can comfortably write in bed or outside or wherever. I have a lined one that I used for a diary/journal for a while, but I filled it with so many other things (like to-do lists) that I wanted something new about half-way through. I've always meant to get another one just like it but with a different cover. And then I have the very same journal, different cover, but blank inside, that I use to draw in.
I have finished #4. Frankenstein by Mary Shelley and I have started #5.
I really like this book, I should be almost done with it tonight. When I get home from work I do not turn the TV on till I have read at least 100 pages. My 9 year old son thought there was something wrong with the TV. He asked me if I forgot to pay the cable bill. :)
Colleen wrote: My 9 year old son thought there was something wrong with the TV. He asked me if I forgot to pay the cable bill. You should have told him yes, in hopes that he would cut down on his watching too. LOL
Kelly, no that isn't the one. I didn't see it listed as one of the spiral notebooks but they have them in the store. They are plastic covers (black, blue and I think red might be other colors also you can get them in not sure)I tried to go see the name on the old journal I have but I can't read the tag. But I know they still carry them. They might not have the elastic that goes around them on those. I'll probably be going to B&N in the next few weeks to use a gift certificate when I do I'll look again and see what they call them. for regular journals I've used the black Moleskin ones that have elastic around them also the the ones that look like cardboard on front. I like the black ones that are small. Those I seem to fill up faster and keep writing in and they are easy to carry with you. But since they aren't spiral they aren't good for book journals. My favorite book journal from long ago you can't find or get anymore. With them I used to take them apart and put them back the way I want them. They had pages for books read, lend out, notes and something else. I used to buy more than one and only use the notes and books read sections.
Oh fun - I'd love to know the name of the journal next time you go to B&N. And I would highly recommend the Picadilly ones. They have 200 pages, lined front and back. And they come in small, med, and large. I love the Moleskins but I've never bought one. I have a GORGEOUS aqua-colored journal that my mom gave me, that I haven't used yet. It's just so beautiful that I hate to mar it up! I'll try to either take a pic of it and post it here, or find it online somewhere.
Finished book #3 and working on #4 Virgin River by Robyn Carr and #5 Two for the Dough by Janet Evanovich.
(pouting) my library doesn't have The Writing Class. Since you all were talking about it, and it looked like it might be interesting, I tried to get it. But they don't have it. (can I sulk now?) lol. :oP
Ann, I'd be willing to do a book swap with you when I'm done reading it, if you have any books you're willing to part with. Let me know what you think.
Ann I know what you mean, my library doesn't have that one either. I'm also reading the Prey series and it doesn't have the second one.Catherine just let me know when you are finished with Three Weeks to Say Goodbye and I'll tell you what part I was talking about.
Now on to my 8th book, Buried Lives.
Not doing so well yet. I finally started a new book for January yesterday. Took me forever to finish the last 2 books I started in December. But between the holidays and a little accident my reading time was very short. Plus personal problems i just did not feel like concentrating. Oh well hopefully the rest of the months of the year will make up for my slow start.
Janet evanovich's books are one of my favorites. I still have to read the last one. Usually I read it as soon as I get it but for some reason I keep forgetting I have to read it yet. I'm still reading the library book so it's taking me longer even though the book is good.
alicia wrote: "Not doing so well yet. I finally started a new book for January yesterday. Took me forever to finish the last 2 books I started in December. But between the holidays and a little accident my readin..."Hope all well now
don't worry you will have some bad months and good months so things will hopefully equal itself out
Fw2books wrote:I can't claim they're good writing but they fill that "silly" spot when you just want to read something, and you don't know what you are in the mood for. There's no surprises, not big changes in plot... just fluff. I agree with you about this series, but I still love them and can't wait to see what craziness Stephanie gets up to and how many cars she blows up. I also find that I can't read these ones in public as I start laughing out loud and people look at you funny. While great literature they are not, they are great fun.
Hum, does anyone remember her blowing up more than 3 cars in any 1 book? I think that's the max number she's done, right? And the "Between the Numbers" books are even fluffier, but no WAY am I going to miss reading one. LOVE that Diesel. :o)
I like them because I live in NJ. I even get snail newsletters from her. And her books are really the only hcs I buy at the moment. Except I didn't buy the last in between book.
Ann I do remember what you are talking about. I love the one where the garbage truck is blown up and lands on her car. Or when she has one of Ranger's expensive cars and something happens to it. But the Buick always seems to live on as her back up car, I love that.
Donnajo wrote: "I like them because I live in NJ. I even get snail newsletters from her. And her books are really the only hcs I buy at the moment. Except I didn't buy the last in between book. "
Donnajo, I, too, love that they take place in NJ.
Have you tried Chelsea Cain? She wrote a bunch of books, but one of her series, Heartsick, Sweetheart and Evil at Heart is awesome and it also takes place in New Jersey (the nortwestern area, not too far from us).
Let me know if you try her books.

In the sticks!! Born on a farm (literally!) and then moved to the big city of Hutchinson - well, it was big to a little farm girl, and it's grown about 10x in size since then
