Hey Gail. I've started Kafka on the Shore, as well. It seems pretty good so far. :)

The Girl who Kicked the Hornets Nest. It isn't interesting me as much as the first two. Maybe it will get better.

message 557: by Margarida (new)

Margarida (mar9292) I've read the Millenium series, too, and loved every book. I agree with you, though, the last isn't as interesting as the first two.

Clara | 25 comments I just finished How To Feel Great All The Time A Lifelong Plan for Unlimited Energy and Radiant Good Health, Newly Revised & Updated by Valerie Saxion and I am planning to read The Kitchen House by Kathleen Grissom . Have any of you read The Kitchen House? I have heard good reviews about it. Please let me know.

Jammies The Queen's Fool, which is a nice change of pace from The Living Dead 2.

I read it. I really liked it overall. There were a few characters I really had some issues with though. I won't say anymore as I hate it when people spoil books by giving away a little too much.

message 567: by Natalie (new)

Natalie (aquariusnat) I'm going to the library later on to check out Orwell's Animal Farm . I'm in the middle of an "Author ABC Challenge" and Orwell is my "O" choice .

message 568: by Alex (new)

Alex (nixon76) I really want to read Animal Farm :) when you finnish it you should tell me if it's good. I'm currently reading Catcher in the Rye, so far I'm likeing it.

message 569: by Margarida (new)

Margarida (mar9292) I've read Animal Farm. It's good, but not as good as 1984, in my opinion. :) That one is brilliant!

Attention Fab Four snobs, Lennon lemmings, and those prone to pat, gee-whiz statements about The Beatles being “the greatest ever”: there's a dark storm headed your way out of Detroit.

Why the hell not the Stones on the cover? Talk later, shall we?

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8991 comments Because the Beatles are cuter, Clark. :)

message 572: by [deleted user] (new)

message 576: by Mary (new)

Mary (madamefifi) Never thought I'd say this but I am beginning to suspect that the Beatles are a bit overrated. Much of their early stuff is just...boring.

Anyone planning to read KR's memoir, Life: Keith Richards?

Sixty-six pages in and it's just alright so far. The dead haven't reanimated yet, so hopefully it will pick up.

read the power of one a long time ago and this is the follow-up to peekay's story but it focuses on the south africa as experienced by a mixed or black member ... so very harsh and hard to read ... and so recent yet

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) I'm doing one paranormal trashy romance and one epic fantasy about assassins, (both adult instead of YA) this time.

I'm almost done with The Jewel in the Crown. Next I'm going to read Watership Down, which my sister just gave to me today as a graduation present. She says it is a travesty for someone who wants to teach high school english to never have read.

How was JITC?

I started Watership Down as a kid, I think I read most of it, but never finished. I loved it though. It was engrossing and horrifying and threw my young self into an emotional turmoil. It's on my to-read list.

I'm feeling a bit educated by and overwhelmed with JITC.

I feel sad for Harry/Hari and rather amazed by multitudes of the social ranking system in India.
I want to hear more about Daphne, honestly.

My sister liked Watership Down so much that she read it ten or twelve times. After that, she memorized the first five pages. She was about ten years old.

Side note: I heard her repeating the opening so many times that it has stuck with me ever since.

"The primroses were over. Towards the edge of the wood, where the ground became open..."

Nice, Carbon Diaries is pretty good, though sort of propaganda. I read the sequel, too and it was possibly better. Just finished Neuromancer and am looking for a new book. Considering re-reading Winter's Tale for the third time 'cuz I just picked it up in hardcover, and it's winter (almost). I read whatever's on hand.

Brittomart I'm doing this thing that I do where like, I really want to read a book, and I start reading it. Then I read about another book, then I start reading that one.

I'm reading Never Let Me Go, but I really really want to read The Corrections by Jonathan Franzen

I'm currently reading Perdido Street Station, but not sure I'm going to finish it. It's more horror than steampunk, and more gross stuff than anything.

Mary (madamefifi) Cloud Atlas, I think. My reading has been quite random lately, I feel like I need to read some litrachure.
