I have just started reading Kafka on the Shore. Recommended by Jim, or I think it was Jim it was the deleted member. :)

I will, Jim. :) What are you currently reading?

That was probably me.
Let me know how you like it.

Hey Gail. I've started Kafka on the Shore, as well. It seems pretty good so far. :)

The Girl who Kicked the Hornets Nest. It isn't interesting me as much as the first two. Maybe it will get better.

wonderful, inspiring book!"
I got that book. I just didn't start yet.

I haven't gotten too far yet. I'll keep an eye out for your review.

"From high school on, Chloe had doubtless been making love with her mouth to both ends of her friends. Her groove was a marrow of good grease, her eyes luminous only when libidinal."

Same here. Have it, just haven't gotten to it yet.

I read it. I really liked it overall. There were a few characters I really had some issues with though. I won't say anymore as I hate it when people spoil books by giving away a little too much.
Lest anyone accuses me of being high-brow:

Attention Fab Four snobs, Lennon lemmings, and those prone to pat, gee-whiz statements about The Beatles being “the greatest ever”: there's a dark storm headed your way out of Detroit.
Why the hell not the Stones on the cover? Talk later, shall we?

Anyone planning to read KR's memoir, Life: Keith Richards?

Will you marry me?

I asked for it for Christmas--looks like a blast and got great reviews.

Sixty-six pages in and it's just alright so far. The dead haven't reanimated yet, so hopefully it will pick up.

But at one time they weren't and now they're better... I don't know. I just started it.

read the power of one a long time ago and this is the follow-up to peekay's story but it focuses on the south africa as experienced by a mixed or black member ... so very harsh and hard to read ... and so recent yet

I am now reading The Thief. I stole it from Bunwat's bookself. I don't think she's noticed it's missing yet.
I'm almost done with The Jewel in the Crown. Next I'm going to read Watership Down, which my sister just gave to me today as a graduation present. She says it is a travesty for someone who wants to teach high school english to never have read.

How was JITC?
I started Watership Down as a kid, I think I read most of it, but never finished. I loved it though. It was engrossing and horrifying and threw my young self into an emotional turmoil. It's on my to-read list.

I'm feeling a bit educated by and overwhelmed with JITC.
I feel sad for Harry/Hari and rather amazed by multitudes of the social ranking system in India.
I want to hear more about Daphne, honestly.

My sister liked Watership Down so much that she read it ten or twelve times. After that, she memorized the first five pages. She was about ten years old.
Side note: I heard her repeating the opening so many times that it has stuck with me ever since.
"The primroses were over. Towards the edge of the wood, where the ground became open..."

I just bought this at B&N for 40% off, I don't know when I'll get to it, though.

Nice, Carbon Diaries is pretty good, though sort of propaganda. I read the sequel, too and it was possibly better. Just finished Neuromancer and am looking for a new book. Considering re-reading Winter's Tale for the third time 'cuz I just picked it up in hardcover, and it's winter (almost). I read whatever's on hand.

I'm reading Never Let Me Go, but I really really want to read The Corrections by Jonathan Franzen

I'm currently reading Perdido Street Station, but not sure I'm going to finish it. It's more horror than steampunk, and more gross stuff than anything.
