I think Marvel's relationship with Moore is the same as Moore's is with DC: He doesn't want anything to do with the company and Marvel can reprint if they want. I seem to remember a story where Quesada tried to mend fences with Moore, and did as long as they printed something in the front of a trade paperback (possibly Captain Britain) and Marvel ended up screwing that up. This was all part of possibly getting him to write something new but Moore is done with the big two, done with superheroes, and said he's almost done writing comics.
I too am waiting to read Marvelman and have no doubt an omnibus is going to happen but I think they are waiting until the new issues by Gaimen are complete. My big concern is whether the omnibus will be the newly colored and censored version or scans of the original coloring and art.

I don't think that even Marvel is oblivious to the fact that Miracleman is just too serious a title to censor... I hope.
And as for reprints of Cpt Brit, it just pains me that Marvel isn't committed to this considering the weight that Moore's name carries in the community.
Sadly they already modified a couple of the issues when they released them individually. One I think wasn't modified but was bagged to keep kids out.
If anyone is interested there are now a few copies of the Rachel Rising omnibus on ebay at reasonable prices.
Fluffyroundabout wrote: "Why are there no miles morales hardcovers?"No idea why there are no OHCs, but I'm guessing that Marvel doesn't want to pull the trigger on committing to omnis from a dead universe and he still doesn't have strong runs in the 616.
Fantasy wish list item: I'd love to see the original 7 issues of Shaolin Cowboy released in a hardcover. I'd even take a re-release of the tpb. Never read any of it but Geof Darrow's artwork looks pretty amazing.
Agreed. I'm hoping they will announce something soon. I read somewhere that Mignola and Dark Horse plan to release everything in the "Mignolaverse" in a HC eventually, but who knows if that'll actually happen. It'd be nice to get into Abe Sapien, Lobster Johnson, and Wichfinder in a deluxe format.
I'd like to see the Bendis DD run get re-printed. I have the second omnibus and the contents of the first one in OHC. It's well done enough I'd love to see the run continue to get out there for new people to read in oversize format.
I don't have the Inferno OHC either. The problem was I didn't know it existed when it was available and it took a long time to sell out for Marvel so it probably doesn't look like a money maker to reprint it.
New prints I want to see:
Uncanny X-Men omnibus vol
Wolverine vol 2 omnibus for Claremont and for Aaron's run.
Lemire Old Man Logan in OHC (bought the single issues and will custom bind if no OHC/omnibus)
Vision by Tom King OHC (not sure I would like the content but it's getting a ton of love and I would check it out).
Birthright and Descender from Image both need OHCs.
We also need a second large vol of Parker matching the Martini edition with the rest of Cooke's work.

I'm kind of interested in Vision OHC. The writing was incredible, the artwork lukewarm. You'd just have to see it.
Does anyone have opinions on the current Wolverine omnibuses that are out? I hear mixed things about both the Millar and Aaron runs.
The Millar collection was decent with Old Man Logan being the stand out and the other 2 being just ok. I didn't care for Aaron's run. While not technically an omnibus Greg Rucka has a good collection out.
I thought they were both decent. Worth reading and I'm glad I have them, but I wouldn't consider them essential reading. I agree with Jesse that the Millar omnibus is better.
Great, thanks! I think I'll be saving my resources for new stuff the rest of the year. That makes my current essential wishlist is:
(1) Hickman FF v1, (2) Brubaker Cap 1, (3) Brubaker Cap Death, (4) Brubaker Cap Lives, (5) X-men Claremont/Lee 1, (6) X-men Claremont/Lee 2, (7) X-men Lee/Kirby 1, (8) X-men Lee/Kirby 2
Unfortunately, money.
I don't have either of them. Could still get vol. 2 at a semi-reasonable price but I'd prefer to start with vol. 1, so I'll wait.
Thanks, Cheese! I swear even over the past 2 months eBay prices for FFv1 have gone from like 200 to 320. I definitely have to wait for a reprint now. Or to be quick on some crazy eBay butt it now offer. I got Secret Warriors because someone selling like 10 different books put it up for 80 and I got an alert and just went ahead and got it right away. He had an alias for 100 that also went in minutes.Re: v2. I understand waiting, but I found a copy for <60 with shipping on Amazon so may be worth checking there now and again and seeing if you can get a discounted copy even if you don't have v1.
I have seen some decent prices on the Amazon marketplace, even one or two around $30 but they were only in "good" condition. It's a bit of a gamble with some of the third party sellers. Is it important to read vol. 1 first, or are the stories self contained enough that you can pick up vol. 2 without missing much?
My understanding is Secret Warriors - Hickman's FF - Hickman's Avengers are all one story leading to Secret Wars so I assume the order and continuity matter, but I've been waiting to read it myself until I can get it collected because I never followed it all consecutively as it came out.
FF didn't have much bearing on Secret Wars that I remember. You do have to read Fantastic Four/FF in order as its one giant story.
Nickviola wrote: "My understanding is Secret Warriors - Hickman's FF - Hickman's Avengers are all one story leading to Secret Wars so I assume the order and continuity matter, but I've been waiting to read it myself..."Well, Secret Warriors and FF aren't exactly tied into SW. I mean, Hickman makes references to Secreat Warriors and FF and having read those prior to Avengers and SW is nice because Hickamn gives small references throughout which gives you a warm and smooth feeling of continuity, but no - Secret Warriors and FF are not integral to the SW story.
You can read secret warriors as a stand alone story IMO. The only main tie in is that other Marvel event Siege.
I went to my LCBS on Friday, they've got loads of signed hardbacks etc. and i stumbled upon head lopper. It's massive for a TPB. Over 200 pages. Looks really good fun so i'll be investing in that.
Top 3 on my wishlist right now. I need to start getting some Batman Absolutes. The 3 I really want are Batman Incorporated, Hush, and Year One. Now trying to get them without breaking the bank...that's another story.
Seriously. If they weren't so expensive. Have you watched some YouTube reviews on Batman Year One? Not what I was expecting. Basically two versions of the same book. Hard to make an Absolute from a book that's less than 200 pages.

Haha. Really? I mean, lots of extras I guess. I dunno. I'd be happy with a deluxe OHC. The versions is kinda weird IMO.
Batman by Neal Adams OmnibusKnightfall Omnibus
Flash by Manapul Omnibus
and I wish one day we get New Krypton Omnibus and finally and only one Flashpoint Omnibus! I would kill for the last one :D
Donovan wrote: "Haha. Really? I mean, lots of extras I guess. I dunno. I'd be happy with a deluxe OHC. The versions is kinda weird IMO."Yep. The Absolute format is awesome, and it's much more popular than the original art facsimiles, but I'd have preferred to see an Artist's Edition of Batman: Year One, and I'll wait for it. It's under a hundred pages, making it too slight for a proper Absolute edition, and just about right for an Artist's Edition, with a few more DC stories and covers by Mazzuchelli thrown in. Releasing the collected, recolored edition, with a separate volume reprinting the shitty newsprint version - which the collected edition was improving upon in the first place - is just bizarre. It's not horrible, but it feels like one of those extras no one would ever ask for, and yet it accounts for 50% of the package.
David Mazzuchelli's an artist's artist, and he conveniently made super-high resolution scans of all his original art pages before selling them, so I'd be surprised if DC hasn't already green-lit a Graphitti Designs Gallery Edition, after the Ronin and Batman: The Dark Knight Returns edition. The heavy lifting is done, editorially speaking; no need to track down pages all over the globe, and hope collectors are willing to cooperate.
The David Mazzuchelli Daredevil: Born Again Artist's Edition was one of the best and most successful to date, so it's odd that they've held off on Year One, which is where Mazzuchelli found his own artistic voice: a clean, brilliant style that influenced some great artists, like Sean Phillips, Michael Lark, Javier Pulido, Chris Samnee, Francavilla, Aja, etc.
I'm fairly certain that the only reason DC is waiting on it is because they don't want an Absolute edition and a Gallery Edition of Year One competing simultaneously, knowing that the exact same fans buying the Original Art books are also buying the Absolute Editions. Get on with it, DC. Enough with the baffling AE's devoted to hacks like Michael Turner, Kelly Jones & Sam Kieth. Do something good... Artist's Editions of JH Williams III's 'Sandman: Overture', or Frank Quitely's 'Flex Mentallo/We3/JLA: Earth 2'. Does anyone give a fuck about Kelley Jones? I'm surprised someone thought he deserved 1 book, let alone 2.
Thanks for those thoughts Eisnein. If they do an AE of Year One I think that'll be my first AE. I don't want the Absolute for all the reasons you mentioned.
I assume they never reprint AEs? I'd really like to have the Romita Sr. Spider-Man V1.

They do reprint AE's sometimes; the Steranko and Wally Wood AE's were both reprinted. I know there's been a couple John Romita Sr. Spiderman AE's, and I think a really large one was just released a couple months ago. I think all of them can still be ordered through Diamond's Star System back-catalog, but I'm not positive... I'll take a look.
Totally agree, Eisnein. And for what is it, like $72 on IST, that's not appealing at all. I've never seen an Artist's Edition. A quick internet search tells me they're huge, but they are in color right? If so that's what I would go for.
Eisnien certainly knows for sure but I believe they are not color, only the pencils and not even the inks. And no dialogue/captions as well, right?
There goes the appeal for me. Honestly I'd be happy with an OHC like Killing Joke. I know the original OHC is floating around on eBay for $60...

I did a little research and it looks like it IS inked, and you can still see the blue pencil marks, notes in margin, etc. And it does have all of the dialogue and captions but it is NOT colored. These are copies of the final boards before they were copied to be colored.
Eisnein, what is your opinion on the Artist Edition vs. the Artifact Edition? Looks like the Romita Spider-Man was reprinted in an Artifact Edition. Is that the only difference, calling it Artifact vs. Artist?

I believe some of the Artist editions do contain all the dialog. But not all of them do. They are pretty cool but too expensive for me.
The Robocop vs Terminator Artist Edition has dialogue with pencils, no ink or color. That's the only one I own so I can't speak for others.
Blindzider wrote: "Eisnien certainly knows for sure but I believe they are not color, only the pencils and not even the inks. And no dialogue/captions as well, right?"No, 99% of them are fully inked and lettered, and read just like a regular comic. Only a couple of the newer editions have no lettering, because the word balloons and lettering are added digitally; but now they're often including the word balloons as semi-transparent add-ons, so it doesn't block out the art, but the story is still readable.
Reece wrote: "The Robocop vs Terminator Artist Edition has dialogue with pencils, no ink or color. It includes the matching script page on the left, the pencils on the right. But every AE I own is super-high-res shots of the finished inks, fully lettered... except the Hellboy in Hell AE, which is fully inked, but without lettering. People complained, and the next Mignola book was fully lettered, since it's only his newest Hellboy story that doesn't include word balloons on the original art.
The new Chris Samnee Daredevil tried something else; a two-volume slipcased AE, one with the fully-inked but unlettered original art, a second volume including the rough layouts on the left, and the original Waid script on the right.

The Artifact edition is the new one I was thinking of. The only difference is that the artifact editions, instead of including one long story-arc, or a couple complete story-arcs, collects memorable issues from through-out a run, so it's more of a commemorative collection of highlight issues. For fans who know the material, or if you're there primarily for the art, it's worth it. EDIT: Actually, this Artifact Edition includes 4 complete Romita stories, so I'm pretty sure the only reason they labelled it an Artifact Edition was to avoid calling it Volume 3. If you look at the stats, the Volume 2 AE's all sell worse than the Volume 1's, often doing 50% of the business. Calling it an Artifact Edition was a smart move, especially since it includes earlier material than the Romita Sr. Spiderman Volume 1. Out of 200 pages, 190 pages were reproduced from the original art, which is as good or better than most Artist Editions from the period. The other 10 pages were copied from photo-stats to complete the stories.
I recall thinking that the Romita Sr. Artifact edition sounded like a good package; It's one of the few Marvel books in the larger, 15 x 22 inch size, like the Steranko Fury AE or the Kirby Thor & Fantastic Four AE's, and it's 200 pages long. It collects earlier Romita work than the first two volumes, since they're both 12 x 17-inch books, after Marvel switched to the smaller art-boards.
There's a great review of the Artifact Edition here (it's a great site for reference, with plenty of reviews and an AE index of every book published so far and a list of forthcoming AE editions and expected release dates):
