I scrolled through the book ☺ I keep looking for a website that tells you the word count for books, because it would mean that we could use books with pictures and such in challenges by going by the word count, but I can't find one! I know that 25,000 words = 100 pages, but I can't find the word count it seems!

You can submit whatever the highest page count is on goodreads. :)

If you click on "all editions" underneath the bio, you'll get a page like this - https://www.goodreads.com/work/editio... and then just look for the highest number. (so for this one, you can submit 475 pages.)

Yes, we normally allow people to use the book with the highest page count. This edition of Cinder - has 387 pages, but this edition - has 495, so you can use 495 as the number. It does help us massively if you can link us to the book with the highest page count though, as we have to check all the numbers ☺

Would it be fairer if the language someone read is English, you count an edition that is english? I often see other languages have more pages!

We could do that, but then people who read a book in a foreign language would have an advantage over people who read the book in english. if we just use the highest number of pages, then everyone gets the same number for the same book ☺

I'm a bit confused by what you mean, but if you mean can the buddy read cover more than one month then yes ☺ If you've started a book in April and finished it in May, we ask that you only claim the number of pages which were read in May though ☺

Some books don't have foreign versions so then it's more advantageous to read the more popular titles but OK !

To clear up my concern I was thinking if
two people read different books that had similar amount of pages in English (e.g. 300) but
Person 1 read a popular book with a foreign edition that had 500 pages while Person 2 read a book with no foreign edition and only could count their read as 300 pages, it's not quite fair. But oh well, with all the different font sizes and like you said and no way to figure out the word count for every book, it's hard to make everything fair!

Anyway, Looking forward to the challenge. Are teams being announced soon? :)

We just have so many issues with trying to make things fair that it gets to be too much. Just using the edition with the highest number of pages means that we have to check and make sure that there is an edition with that many pages, without having to then make sure that the edition is in elglish etc. we get a bit swamped with all the counting as it is ☺

I was going to do the teams yesterday but I ended up having a ridiculously busy day, and haven't even done the counts for the current challenge for a couple of days now. today is busy too though, so it will most likely be tomorrow before I have time to do it now ☹
