FYI my dog had to be taken to the vet today.. he's not doing so well.. so depending on how things go with him over the next couple of days, it may take me longer than usual. sorry team im just a little anxious and worried about him, so I may not be able to focus on a book until I know he will be okay😓
Sunny, I understand! I hope he’s okay. We had to put one of our dogs down November 1, 2023 and another one of our dogs on September 26, 2025. We now just have one 2 year old Havanese who’s FULL of energy! But I know the concern you have. Best of luck!
Thank you, Vicky. I'm sorry you lost them. It's hard because they become family, you know? I adopted him about 12 years ago. Anyway.. hoping and praying for improvement. Thanks Vicki🥲
Sunny, I've been there as well with our Chihuahua and Great Dane. I know how hard it is when they're not well and if you have to make the decision to lovingly let them go. They are family. Take all the time you need. ❤️
Sending positive thoughts your way. We have an 11 year old dog so I totally understand. Dogs are family! Take the time you need. I'm going to have to hunt down a cop book. I thought I had one but it's a detective so I'll do some hunting later tonight.
For instance, in my book, Lindsay Boxer is a LEO who happens to have the rank of detective. I was under the impression this would work...
I think that should work. I’ve been reading a ton of books with fbi or cia agents and I don’t think those can count. I’ll find a cop book though.
I agree. I think that should work too, Michelle .. your character sounds like a police detective, which is LEO. FBI is the primary federal law enforcement agency in the US, so a character from the FBI *should* count too. CIA agent probably won't count, though...
Cops and sherrifs might be a safer bet for this task.

Review:
Another great Karin Slaughter book. Maggie and Kate are female cops in a man's world back in the 1970s. There were also black officers and the white men didn't accept either women nor black men. There was a lot of racism and sexism. There were corrupt policemen and a lot of growth among the characters.

I realize now that if i had read a book with just 11 more pages we would have 750. Does each person in the group have to read a book or is it just about reaching 750 pages?

I have mine read. I just have to get it posted. I think we all have to do a book unless I use a pass.

Sunflower Reads wrote: "Does each person in the group have to read a book or is it just about reaching 750 pages?"Each teammate needs to participate in each task unless they use their pass. That said, a person using their pass does not decrease the requirement for a task - the same number of pages or books would still need to be read.

Please correct to the first edition Kindle page count (416). Thanks.
Here is your next task!Task 8 - 33. Read 6 books in the same sub-genre, teams decide.
As a team select a sub-genre of romance and then read 6 books in that sub-genre. Please include the selected sub-genre in your completion posts.
A couple that I like to read but I'm pretty open with anything are friends to lovers and sports romances. I can probably knock out 2 books this week depending on what sub-genre we pick. :)
I'm good with either of those, Anna. I'll be at a Grief and Loss Seminar from Tuesday through Friday. I'll still be reading and checking in at night, but I probably need to plan on just one for this round.
No worries Michelle. I will aim for two but if a faster reader gets done before me, that works too. I will try. Anna, I am also open to both sub-genres you suggested. Of the two, sports romances are usually quick, fun reads for me.
What do you think, Vicky?

Sorry, Kat, I fixed it to the right page count.
Yay! I'll have one book done today and I'll probably get another one tomorrow. Those are pretty quick for me.

Review:
I really liked this book by Elle Kennedy. The mix of college hockey-athlete goals and off-the-ice emotional growth is just the right balance of fun and depth. The main characters - Gigi, driven to live up to a legacy, and Ryder, broody and battle-scarred - have fantastic banter and gradual trust-building. I recommend it to anyone who especially likes enemies-to-loves, sports romance with stakes, and a heroine who isn't just cheering from the sidelines.

I got it done this morning. That football game was a big one and I didn't get it finished before friends came over.
