Review: Wren got away from a dangerous life and is raising her son when Archer, the President of an MC moves next door. Wren judges Archer solely based on his club but she has no clue what is within the heart of the man who sees something in her he wants.

I liked this but struggled with Wren a bit. She was a snot for the first part and then the story progressed with good chemistry.

I>"I like you," I confessed. "A lot. As in, miss you when I don't see you, need to talk about your Facebook privacy settings, want to find out how you found my thesis, rearrange my schedule to eat lunch with you, ready to see what's under your knee socks, like you."

Kate Canterbury has a great knack for writing flawed, engaging characters, and Patrick and Andy are no different. I really enjoyed their fall into a relationship, even when their dysfunctional communication skills were frustrating. I would recommend reading the books in series order to appreciate the family business story arc.

Review: Jaxxon and Connor were in the same foster home when they were younger, along with her older sister First Connor left and then her sister. Neither looked back.

Jaxxon had been on her own struggling to make ends meet when she is discovered in a bar and given the opportunity to be a model. Connor sees her on the cover a magazine, this is 8 years after he left and finally remembers she exists and he wants her.

She made me proud when she gave him the cold shoulder, but of course that didn't last long due to the fact she loved him when they were younger, and he was very persistent now.

There new relationship is all about sex, and I don't think there was enough non-sex time between them for their relationship to develop in the present. While they are having their affair, Jaxxon is also dealing with a stalker.

I feel in love with Suzanne's work while reading her shifter series, and this one does not hold a candle to those, but it wasn't all bad. And the lady knows how to write a sex scene.

I did wonder if it would have been better if it had just been Jaxxon and Connor's POV, although I did like their friends.

I stared at him, off-balance. Eventually, I said, “I can’t decide whether to hug you for saying you love me or to slap you for daring to even entertain the thought that I might be clueless.” “The first. You should do the first.” I sank my teeth into my lower lip. “You mean it? You love me?” “I mean it. Would never have said it if I didn’t.”

This romantic suspense had a few good twists and I really liked Blake & Kensey as a couple. Only 4 four stars because I disliked Blake's hot/cold behaviour. Thankfully we get to see a genuine connection as the book progresses.

This was a reread and it was just as fun as when I read it for the first time. I liked Sam, and while Jared had questionable moments, I know that he’s going to grow as a character. My only problem is that there weren’t enough scenes of Sam training the squad, so I didn’t think that the relationships between the guys in the squad as well as their relationships with Sam and Jared were developed enough.

This book was fine and even though I didn’t like how Sidonie acted like she was the victim when she’s the one who lied to Jonas, that ended fairly quickly, and she was the one who had to go after him and fight for their relationship. I didn’t like Roberta, and I wasn’t a fan of the isolated setting.

Mafia boy Gabriel sees Mercy at the prison he visits his dad at and knows he wants her. She doesn't take Gabriel up on his offer of sex for protecting her dad in prison. It only draws him in further but Mercy cannot deny the attraction what will happen when they implode?

I liked the idea of this but Gabriel can't seem to keep it in his pants a bit while he is trying to lure Mercy into his bed. Otherwise entertaining.

Review: The blurb says friends to lovers, but they just met and shorty after started a relationship. When I think friends to lovers I think established friends.

Overall, this was a good story, I just didn't feel connected to the characters, and I didn't feel the chemistry or any sexual tension.

Review: Kerry and her brother Murphy are in New York to sell Christmas Trees from their family's farm. This is Kerry's first go round, but she has a way with the people, and she adds to the business by selling the wreaths that she makes. Murphy is a bit of an ass to his sister during the entire book.

She meets Patrick and his son Austin, and you can tell right away that Patrick is attracted, and Austin is also smitten. He steals all the scenes.

I liked how everyone in the neighborhood they were doing business in had each other's backs. That gave it a small-town feel.

“Be safe, Chaos. It’s going to piss me the hell off if you end up dead.” She grinned up at me. “You say the sweetest things, Law Man.”

My first read from this author and I'm keen to read more. I really enjoyed the premise of this book: Ridley is a podcaster seeking to find to her sister's killer. Her investigations take her to the small town of the supposed killers' first victim and finds friction with the town's sheriff. This was a true enemies to lovers, despite the spark, and the mystery side of the plot was well written.

The only reason I didn't give 5 stars was I thought that Riley handled everything "too well", including the killer reveal which would have seriously messed with my head.

What other books by Catherine Cowles would you recommend?

Also I'm starting Not Pretending Anymore by Penelope Ward for another challenge but not sure how quickly I can finish.

Shan ~A~ | 1948 comments The only other things I've read is her Sutter Lake series, which I've read 4 out of 5, but I have plans to read all of her other books as well. That being said, I've enjoyed them all.

I love when Penelope Ward & Vi Keeland write together. I don't think I've had a bad experience with any of their books together and this was no different. Of course, I bought the audiobook as soon as I saw Seb Yo was narrating. I love him still to this day.

This book was fine, but it was slow and even the action scenes were kind of flat. I did like how well Grey and Kier’s relationship was shown (although they could have talked about their feelings earlier), but Kier could have had more of a personality than just being devoted to Grey. Also, I really didn't like something that Grey does near the end.

This book was fine, but it was the ending that was the most interesting and yet it still didn’t show enough.

There’s no real investigation – things happen and Jake tries to find out more (no details), but they don’t really think all the incidents were connected.

Sarah and Jake have been friends for seven years and Jake finally tells Sarah that he wants more. There’s some back and forth with that (Sarah agrees but then says she only wants to be friends and that is repeated once or twice), and it didn’t feel like anything solid was decided.

(view spoiler) These kinds of books really need a sequel or more pages after those kinds of moments because I want to see what’s going to happen next: (view spoiler).

Review: Bowie has been in love with Cassidy for years, but he friend zoned her due to the fact that she was best friends with his sister. His plan is not to waver on his promise to himself. Even when he wants nothing more than to claim her as his own. With the investigation heating up into the unsolved disappearance of Callie Kendall, the Bodine's are in the cross hairs of a possible link to their deceased father. Cassidy is straddling the line between friend and local police. Will Bowie finally make his move or are these two destined to be friends forever.

I wanted to like this more, I really did but I just was not feeling the chemistry between these two and Bowie frustrated me.

Review: I didn't really enjoy this story. Annie is a ventriloquist so the beginning of the book she's in the car during a snowstorm basically talking to herself using the personality of her dolls. I had decided I would be okay with it if it was the only time she did it, but it was not.

Then she's staying close to someone she thinks tried to kill her when she was younger and her behavior was completely juvenile. Plus she reminded me of every dumb horror movie character that ends up getting killed along the way.

The only good thing was that I didn't realize who was terrorizing her until she got a particular phone call later in the book, then it was obvious. I feel like the culprit got off to easily.

However, I guessed the stuff from the past basically from the beginning.

All of that and I didn't really like any of the characters.

“Do we start this just whenever?” she asked, gesturing between us. “What do we do? Are we just roommates? Are we more than roommates? Are we friends? Are we…” I stopped her tirade with not my hand over her mouth, but my mouth on hers.

Sin and Blaise's story was good but it isn't my favourite in the series. Sin seemed a little 2D as far as character development was concerned and the broad plot also felt too similar to LLV's other books.
