MountainKat | 31819 comments I think most of you know each other, at least a little, but feel free to introduce yourself again. Please give any relevant information, especially time zone as that helps know when it is best to communicate. 😊

Please select a team leader to help keep track of where your team is in any given task. And as necessary guide discussions for task decisions. Any teammate can report your completions though. I will use the team leader as a point of contact if needed.

Remember, it is the team's responsibility to notify the host (me) if a teammate fails to complete the task in a timely manner or otherwise goes missing! I am not checking all the team threads regularly to notice and may only check when notified a task is complete.

PS - If you want to be known as anything other than Team 2 you are free to come up with a team name. 😉

Ela (Mouse333) | 514 comments First Task - All Teams!

Task 1 - 0. Read a book celebrating October 1st.

This round begins on October 1st. October 1st has much historical significance. In 1890, Yosemite National Part was established. In 1903, the first game of the modern World Series was played. In 1908, the Ford Model T went on sale. And my personal favorite, in 1971 Walt Disney World, ‘The Most Magical Place on Earth’, opened. But I had to narrow the choices down so… In honor of the first game of the World series being played in 1903, read a book that is MPG Sports. This can be a specific sport such as ‘hockey’ or ‘baseball’, or the generic ‘sports’, but either MUST be MPG. OR In honor of the Walt Disney World opening in 1971, read a book that is MPG Magic or MPG Fantasy. Teams decide between the two options.

Married to the Alien Cowboy (Cowboy Colony Mail-Order Brides, #1) by Ursa Dax
Page numbers: 276 (1st Kindle edition)
Qualifies: MPG Fantasy
Date Completed: 2 October
Rating/Review: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

“I do not care why you came here. I do not care if you lied, cheated, or stole your way into this world. I do not care what you were running from.” His eyes grew white slowly, brightening from the aqua veins outward. “All I care about is that, if you are running, I’m the one you run to.”

I was unsure if mixing alien & cowboy tropes would make for cringe worthy read but I was happy to be wrong. Cherry and Silar were both likeable and interesting characters, the "sweet" spicy scenes were fun, and world building is interesting enough to continue with the series.

Burn Bright (Alpha & Omega, #5) by Patricia Briggs
Book/Author: Burn Bright by Patricia Briggs
Kindle Edition Pages: 336
Finished: 10/02
How it fits: MPG Fantasy
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Review: Things start off with a bang. Bran has left Charles in charge of the pack while he's away and of course things go awry. Charles gets a call that someone needs help and what he and Anna find is one of the pack members and their mate (wolf & fae) have been ambushed, and the wolf has been captured.

They get their in time to help her escape, but things still go wrong.

After that incident they realize there is a traitor in their midst. And Charles realizes that Bran left and left him to run things for a reason.

I've fallen in love with Charles and Anna, and I love how possessive Charles and brother wolf are of her and also how well these three work together. This installment had non-stop action from the beginning, and we continue to learn more about the world this is set in and the supernatural's that inhabit it along the way.

I love getting the snippets into how these stories coincide with Mercy's story, and it makes me wish I would have read both series together in order of timeline.

This book was fine, but I definitely preferred Viciously Yours. I didn’t really care about Dean and Fawn, but some of the situation could have been fun if I'd liked them as much as Rennick and Amelia.

Cruel Magic (Royals of Villain Academy, #1) by Eva Chase by Eva Chase
Page numbers: 302
Qualifies: MPG Fantasy
Date Completed: 10/3
Rating/Review: 3 1/2-4

There was one glaring problem for me with this story. Rory witnesses the brutal death of her parents and then gets taken to Bloodstone Academy and her acceptance that she is being trained to be a Villian makes no sense and felt like that just did not flow right and took away from the story. Overall entertaining though and great chemistry.

All his lusting after Miss Annoyed all weekend had been justified. ...  He frowned. She’d acted like she hadn’t known who he was. She’d run her hot little hands over his body, gave him the hard-on from hell, and pretended not to know him?

After a disastrous meet cute and being burned by cheating exes, Shelby and Shane agree to stick to great chemistry rather than a relationship. Marie Harte consistently writes low angst, spicy stories with funny side characters and a satisfying HEA, and Bodywork is no different.
